Great location for public transport (buses), close to some nice bars and eateries, Western Springs Park, Auckland Zoo, and easy to get to and from the city. Beautiful and faithful renovation of this iconic building. The rooms were cosy, the bed was very comfortable, and the decor was stylish. Great to have free off-street parking with easy access to the hotel.

There was no dedicated area to boil the jug so had to balance it on the toilet which isn't ideal (no space on the top of the fridge or on the bedside tables). There wasn't much space around the bathroom basin to unpack a few toiletries for easier access. The light over the bathroom mirror is very stylish but completely useless for providing adequate lighting for applying makeup and getting ready. There isn't a security lock on the inside of the door, which is a must-have for a solo female traveler.

This place has a truly unique and amazing atmosphere. I loved every little detail. The room was tastefully furnished with design pieces that reflect the building’s history. A lovely surprise was the spacious balcony, perfect for both a relaxing evening and a peaceful breakfast. The staff were outstanding – the receptionist even helped me carry my suitcase to the room. I would definitely stay here again. This place truly has a soul.

There’s practically nothing within walking distance (not even a supermarket). Walking around after dark didn’t feel very comfortable. Of course, that’s not the hotel’s fault, but it’s good to be aware of it.

It is a lovely place. Bed was really comfortable and cozy. Temperature was fine for us but there's no thermostat in the room. The room was quiet even though our room (no 14) was next to the stairs.The restaurant was amazing (we lucked out it seems and walked in on our first night..9pm ish). The food was up there with some of the best we've ever eaten, that was the general consensus of the four of us. That included an retired chef and two that have dined in 1 & 2 Michelin starred establishments. Auckland is laid back and cool imo.

The room was on the small side for us with two large suitcases and two carry on's. The area around the a/c vent was a little dirty.

Lovely restored convent with interesting art and stylish rooms. Great location. On site parking is also a bonus.

The rooms have very high ceilings and there was only a small wall heater in the room, which did not heat the room sufficiently. It was a particularly cold winter night and the room felt chilly. Also, we have stayed at the Convent at least 8 times over the years. It would be nice for the reception staff to be aware of this and welcome you back rather than ask if this is your first visit each time. Also, extra treats for repeat guests would be a lovely touch.

Lovely place - the staff were welcoming and helpful and the decor is quirky and wonderful. The restaurant here is also amazing and the staff there went above and beyond including one staff member taking the time out to sooth a crying newborn baby that the parents had brought to the restaurant. This staff member saved the night from being a complete disaster for other patrons and should be commended!

The constantly crying baby in an elevated dining experience was hard to take although as mentioned the staff did a great job of managing this and saved the night from being ruined.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. We especially appreciated the hotel’s unique decor, which paid homage to its religious roots with an added playful, artistic touch. The staff was polite and welcoming, and we appreciated that they accommodated our request for a later check-out. Overall, a memorable and enjoyable experience!

The hotel is a bit off the beaten track, so there weren’t as many dining options within walking distance compared to the CBD. While there is a restaurant on-site, it was closed during our stay. We chose The Convent Hotel for its proximity to Mt. Eden, which we walked to the next day. One thing to note—there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage upstairs.

This is a converted convent where the history of the building is evident even though the level of comfort far exceeds what was originally there. It was fun to speculate about the rooms and the former occupants. The artwork is eclectic with religious items mixed along with south Asian influences, a fun mixture and certainly added to the ambience.

It is a converted convent, so our room was rather tight! I think we had one of the smallest rooms, but the others we saw were more spacious.

Convenient location, clean and comfortable rooms, beautiful hotel, very welcoming and friendly staff. Close enough to walk to Ponsonby area (25mins) which has great food and shopping spots.

We were given a room on the ground floor right by the main front door, which meant that we could hear the comings and goings of guests, both from opening and closing the front door and talking in the echoey corridor. For the price we paid, I was not expecting this. For the price and the elevated nature of this hotel, I would have liked the option of breakfast too.

The Convent Hotel was wonderful. Very beautiful inside with all the artwork and the history. It was a bit challenging for our large suitcases to go up the wooden staircase. The room was absolutely beautiful. Every amenity was thought about. There were three of us traveling together and the two rooms (with a mini balcony) were perfect. I loved the Red Skelton paintings in the office when we checked in! Truly a wonderful place, with a nice little garden out back. The beds were THE MOST comfortable! We loved our stay here.

The parking lot in the back is a little tight and there is a light to alert you if there is an oncoming vehicle coming into the lot. It was unfortunate that we didn't have enough time to try the restaurant in the hotel, as it looked delicious.

This was a lovely place to land after a 15-hour flight. Our room had a balcony that had enough space for a yoga mat and a café table. Whomever designed the rooms and curated the collection of art and antiques in the space did an excellent job. There’s an interesting mix of cheeky religious paintings, contemporary work on paper, and antiques and photographs from India. Our room had gorgeous handmade (?) tiles in the bathroom and a copper sink. Our bed was very comfortable, and the kitchenette was thoughtfully stocked with the exact things I want after a long trip: teas, crisps, and good chocolate.

The parking situation was a little confusing.
