We love the Surrey and have stayed several times before, the customer service is always excellent, the rooms clean and quiet, plus it is close to town.

An extra blanket would have been great

Probably our favourite Auckland hotel so far, and we will go back next time. It had so much character and I loved the decor. Great parking for an Auckland hotel!

No lock on the bathroom door meant that I had no privacy from the kids. Why no lock? It was a hard to get reception desk staff to come to the counter from their back room a few times.

Almost everything was great, friendly staff, cleanliness of the room, parking, comfortable bed, close to shops

Not enough blankets and surprise bond of $150 (which we hadn't been asked for on previous stays)

Great place- I would happily stay again. Staff were so lovely and super helpful. Really comfy beds, clean rooms, quiet, good location that's walkable into the city (<40mins walk to Aotea centre) and free parking on sight. Although I ended up not using them, I appreciated that there was a gym and pool. Importantly I also loved that it was airy with big opening windows- so much better than most of the stuffy city high rise hotels. Definitely the best place I've stayed in Auckland, thanks :)

Minor things but I couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work- the landing page kept crashing when trying to log in. I would also have loved to be able to adjust the height of the shower - a fixed one can be a bit of a pain. Nothing major though- these things wouldn't stop me staying in future.

This is my third time staying at Surrey, for an older hotel, it sure exceeds service i've received from other newer hotels. The staff go above and beyond! I particularly need to mention the Housekeepers! One of the days we left the hotel in a hurry, because we were late for our excursion, we were embarrassed because we left our room in an absolute mess. When we returned in the evening the housekeepers had completely cleaned our room, refreshed our linen, were so grateful. We would definitely stay again

if anything could improve, it would be the firmness of the beds in 840, i dont think our beds in the previous rooms we stayed in were that firm. We stayed 2years ago and the spa was out of order, it would be great if could have used it on this stay too. Maybe an upgrade to the back doors to enter by swipe key aswell, as when you come back in late, with children its a hassle parking up top, then walking them down to reception to enter, this could be an inconvenience for solo parents, or elderly as there is not much lighting on the walk down, and its slippery when wet 🙏🏽

Clean and spacious room. Heat pump kept room toasty. Having the onsite restaurant available for meals. Friendly staff. Great location, close enough to everything but away from the hustle and bustle. Bus route, easy to grab a bus from the lovely small shopping centre with bus cards available from a few of the shops there.

We were on the opposite side of the road from the main hotel - car parking for us, it didn't appear to have a carpark for each room available. I'm unsure where you were suppose to park if no spaces, maybe the main complex, maybe the road side but as a visitor unsure on rules. Maybe it's not a thing anymore, but no room information booklet about what the hotel offers or the attractions available.

The Surrey Hotel's location is not bad. There's a famous park named Western Spring nearby. Many events are held at the park. Since we are driving by ourselves, it's also quite close to the fish market. the staff there are quite hospitable and are always ready to answer any questions. We booked the room while the hotel was having promotions. Taking the price into account, we believe it's a great option if you plan to stay in Auckland for a few days.

There are also some unfavorable aspects, such as the location of the reception. It's in an apartment across the busy road. You have to cross this road with heavy traffic to get to the reception. And the swimming pool is a little small.

It was easy to find and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. I found the studio motel unit spacious and comfortable with pleasant decor. The shower was a good size and there was plenty of hot water. I was staying with my special needs adult son and it was a bonus for us to find a unit with two generous sized beds that still allowed plenty of space for a kitchenette, breakfast bar with stools, desk, and small table with two comfy chairs.

I didn't see any information about the motel or what is available in the area. It also took a while to realise where the heat pump was, directly above the window in the kitchenette. A pair of scissors in the utensils drawer would have been useful and I couldn't find a plug for the kitchen sink.

We were in rooms across the road. Very spacious. Room was clean. We were going to an event at Western Springs and it was very handy for that, plus good food and dairies a few minutes away. Also not too far from Ponsonby Road and K Rd, about 30 min walk or a few minutes drive.

Just a few things let the rooms down. No toilet brush, the latch in my bathroom window was missing, the floor was quite creaky, the fridge waa very noisy at night, there was a weird smell in the room when I arrived. But I would still stay again if going to a Western Springs event.

The beds were very comfortable, and we had everything we needed for a short stay. Everything looked and felt clean, and seemed to have been recently renovated. The addition of a double USB ppt was particularly helpful for charging everyone's devices.

Despite having a booking for 3 people, there were only 2 towels, 2 mugs, 2 glasses etc. Housekeeping freely gave us an extra towel, but additional kitchen items would have been handy. There was also no hot choc sachets, and the small pottles of milk are both insufficient and bad for the environment. A small carton would have been better. There were notes regarding paper recycling but not glass/plastic/cans. We had all of these items and had to take them with us to find recycling bins.
