My stay at the Birchwood Motel was truly delightful, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, charming, and affordable place to stay. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the friendly and welcoming staff, who went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. They were incredibly helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and attractions, adding a personal touch that you don’t often find.The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and had a cozy, rustic feel that matched the natural surroundings perfectly. The beds were very comfortable, with soft linens that made it easy to get a good night's rest. I especially appreciated the little touches, like the complimentary coffee and tea, which added to the overall homey vibe of the place.One of the best things about the Birchwood Motel is its location. Nestled near beautiful nature spots, it’s an ideal choice for travelers who enjoy outdoor activities, and there are some great hiking trails nearby. Despite being close to nature, it’s also conveniently located near town, so I had easy access to shops and restaurants without sacrificing the peaceful, scenic atmosphere.Overall, my experience at the Birchwood Motel was outstanding. If you’re looking for a quaint, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay, this motel is an excellent choice. A lovely stay, enjoyed the hot tub, definitely the highlight. Appreciated the functioning kitchen with a good range of utensils. Knives could have been sharper for cutting meat.

Interesting layout with the toilet and shower on the first floor. Not really suitable for those of us with mobility issues, but made it work. Tap water in kitchen, and shower water were not very hot, not hot enough to wash dishes cleanly, needed to boil jug, and lukewarm in showers. However, hot tub water was extremely hot 🔥

Staff were helpful and friendly. Easy to find. This motel is older, you can see signs that the owners are slowly improving the rooms. Ours had a new fridge, new bed, new tvs. Stations channels were good, we used Netflix. Wifi was probably the best we have had in a motel. It is extremely clean!! We had baby wipes and used on lots of surfaces, not a speck of dust!! If you can get past the older decor, like we did, we had a fantastic time. Spa was easy to fill and lovely to use, outdated too, but still private area to use, which we loved.

The beds are clean with good pillows, there was a double single and a fold out couch. All ground floor rooms which is good for disabled

The fridge was dirty but they came and cleaned it when told, the room does shake at night with the trucks but I slept ok with it. Had to ask for milk. No air con and and only a little portable fan, so good for me at this time of year ( not to hot yet)

I loved the welcoming feeling of birchwood motel it was easily located in rotorua 10mins from main shopping center. Very friendly staff, the place was clean and beautiful and warm in the winter. The hot tub spa was just what was needed after traveling from Auckland an amazing way to relax after the long journey.

There was nothing that could of made my stay better as it was excellent from the start.

I liked how I could have a spa bath at any time and it was very private so I could enjoy it like a proper bath. Very beautiful scenery and great location, near the city centre but far enough away that the traffic doesn't bother me.

Someone did put a spa on after 10.30pm and I think it should be managed better if someone doesn't follow the guide lines of not putting it on after 10pm. Other than that I had an amazing stay. Definitely still going to recommend this motel to everyone who is planning to stay in rotorua

Staff were so helpful always asked if I was ok or checked in if I needed anything extra, Room was comfy, got to enjoy Netflix on the Tv which was a bonus that doesn’t happen very often at any other accommodation I’ve stayed at, wifi was great, what a cool bonus having your own spa so perfect

We we’re able to park right outside our door which was great so we could watch our vehicle, the staff we’re so friendly and helpful

Customer service was great! She had a lovely personality & all in all was just an amazing person. The room was stunning, had big bed that could fit anyones needs, and spa bath is in line with the tv, so you could do both at the same time! The view was astounding, you can see the lake and mountains! Beautiful! we loved it, and would definitely come back again on our next holiday!! Would recommend this cozy nice stay!

Car park, was very hard to park

The room was roomy ,clean and tidy , the spa was enjoyable and private.

The spa took quite a while to fill (the spa was quite big) and was noisy when running which was timed for 8 mins at a time. There was a little bit of road noise as it is on a main road.
