Location and hotel met the expectations for our family. The teens continue to enjoy the pool and entertainment area. Check in process was warm and friendly. A super friendly young man working in the restaurant (breakfast) made our day with his warm and upbeat energy. Clearly loved his job.

The spa pools were in serious need of improved filtration. The layer of soap and skin scum and hair evident once in the pool was frightening. The hotel pools ran out of towels (admittedly school holidays and a lot of families using the pools). Hotel breakfast buffet was good but not really worth the cost (upper end of breakfast buffet pricing) for a large family group.

The staff were amazing reception and dining/bar. The view from our room was great. The room was cozy and very clean. The hotel felt fresh, modern and had a lovely decor. I would stay there again.

I felt that the hotel was understaffed, which had a knock on effect for waiting times at reception and waiting for our food that we orded at the bar. In fairness it was the school holidays but i would expect that this is a forseen event that could be planned for. The food was over prized for the quality. We decided to eat out after our first evening, which was a shame as we would have preferred to eat in.

Great location right by the village, so cool to feel like you’re in the middle of the geothermal activity. Great hot pool and so cool to have a games room, my son loved this. The staff were all amazing. We were able to check in early while waa greatly appreciated as our son was very carsick.

Found the beds linen uncomfortable and not very cosy. There wasn’t any extra blankets. Old school aircon might work well but it’s so loud so would be lovely to have to extra blankets so you don’t have to have the aircon on all night. Fridge in the room wouldn’t cool down (staff gave us ice to keep food from spoiling). Tv glitched out on channels that aren’t sky tv.

The Bedroom was clean and tidy. TV channel options were very good. Friendly staff at Chapman's Restaurant and Bar.

There was Rust and Dirt both on the Bathroom Tap and the Coffe. Jug had dust / hadn't been 100 % cleaned. When I checked out this morning at the Reception and handed in the Swioe Cards for the Room the Female at Reception didn't have tge decency to even ask - How was your Stay or did you have an enjoyable stay ? All she did was check my Rolmnumber and said "all fine". Come on. That is Not really Good Enough especially in the current economy where Hospitality and Tourism, especially in Rotorua are really struggling.

Overall a very good experience. Rooms very spacious and good facilities Pool is great Used restaurant for both breakfast and dinner for a couple of nights. Wide variety of choices, definitely something for everyone. Had porridge one morning, more rice than oats, not unpleasant though. All you could eat evening buffet was good value , lots of choice. Beds were very comfortable Staff were very helpful This was a return visit after 5 years, now different owners. Would definitely return.

Bathroom, looking a bit tired. The Aircon didn't reach very quickly after showers, no fan. One large window had a lock issue (room 809, on top floor, so not a security problem), one of 2 didn't close. The safe didn't work. All these issues were reported to reception and I'm sure will get fixed. This hotel needs an update, it isn't quite in the same league as other Rydges hotels we've stayed at but is almost there.

We loved the location and the double queen park valley view room was very homey and spacious for a family of four. The buffet breakfast and dinner was fantastic! The pool is lovely and warm for a swim mid winter. It was used all the time by many guests. The kids play room was awesome and last but not least the staff were very friendly and helpful! Thanks Rydges Rotorua we will be back.

Coffee pod machine you have to move forward near the bench edge to lift the pod capsule lid so not super practical. But this is a minor issue.

The room was clean and comfortable and this hotel had the most comfortable pillows and bed of any hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff were attentive and friendly and went the extra mile to help me as I had an injured knee - they listened to me and delivered and helped me with an error I had made. Happy with coffee machine in my room and that in the bar. The pool, while great for supervised children and was heated (which I did not like personally) was very clean. Rydges limits the number of sunbeds and chairs by the pool to keep the area uncrowded but usable, which is very clever. Laundry facilities were great for us travellers who have been exploring for weeks. Great location - right next to Whakarewarewa - I had an excellent view of this thermal park from my balcony. Loved it. Also, they had a water machine that you could refill your water bottles for free- so no having to keep buying more. Saves us money and the use of less plastic which harms the environment. Could not recommend this hotel enough.

An alternative to a heated pool. A lending/Swop library for those of us who still read paperbacks ;)

Got an upgrade to a great room with awesome view on Whakarewarewa. However very thin windows so could hear everything from the swimming pool area. Great block out curtains to sleep in in the morning :) Comfy bed, good room layout, shower was fine. Loved the hot pools. Good location for Whakarewarewa, Te Puia, Wai-o-Tapu, Redwoods, Blue/Green Lake, Tarawera...

Room Service - Paid $24 for what was supposed to be a mud cake (gooey center), only to get a very dry and bland chocolate cake. Check in and check out is very minimal - literally no information provided at the check in, and there is also no information booklet in the room. Check out - The receptionist would have just taken my key and not said anything - wasn't even asked the simple question of how was my stay, so wasn't given a chance to talk about the room service. I did it anyway and was kindly refunded for it. Loved the pool and hot pool, however one of the hot pools jets wasn't working

Our room had a great view although I did have to pay extra for the upgrade. Our first room had a view of the roof which I did not think was good particularly as I had paid for four nights which already was quite alot. The Newly refurbished room was perfect. we liked everything about our room. Pillows and beds were very comfortable. Lovely lights. The black out curtain was great. Places to put your luggage. Gowns and slippers a nice touch. Having a safe and coffee making facility and a fridge was ideal. I liked the green idea but I kept forgetting to put up my green sign. Perhaps it could be the other way around- have a sign put up only if you want new towels etc. Great pool area and clean towels for swimming. My son liked using the gym

The only thing I recommend is cleaning around our bathroom sink is already looking tired around the drain and tap area. Also on the floor around the floor drain is dirty. Both spa pools were not working well but we still enjoyed them. We had noisy neighbours in and out constantly and heard the rooms around us banging doors till late after 11 pm. Could the doors be tightened more so that they just click shut quietly. I noticed the prawns are not cleaned ie de veined or the heads cleaned. I could not eat them and someone might get sick. I often could not find parking only near Whakarewarewa. Was worried my car would get broken in as deserted at night.
