Breakfast was ok, but basic. On of these places that have breakfast just to tick the box. The view from our room was good. Good location next to many restaurants, the park and the lake shore.

The duty manager was rude when we asked why they don’t accept paywave for payment or security. A simple answer that they don’t have the facility it would do. Instead, that same answer was delivered with an ugly face, and when we asked why (as this is common in so many services) the manager said exactly the same thing with the same ugly face. A good combination of aggressive with passive aggressive at the same time. Good one duty manager!

Great location, suited our purposes perfectly, comfortable beds, good value relative to other motels/hotels in the area, would stay again...

This will be a mixed review. Firstly the room was spotless, the bed very comfortable, the shower/bathroom excellent and the view very good. The receptionists were all very helpful. There is a street about 400 yards from the hotel known as Eat St with a selection of restaurants

However, the room had my pet hate. We travel as a couple and the room only had one chair for us. The previous night we had stayed in Whangarei, i think we paid slightly less but we had 2 chairs, a settee, a table to sit at together (and a microwave). As a minimum when there are two people in a room there should be 2 chairs even if they are basic chairs

The rrom was lovely and quiet with a lake view and the bed was super comfy and cosy. I love that the Ibis has a woolen blanket available if you need an extra bit of warmth. The location is unbeatable, can walk anywhere central. Room was spotlessly clean.

The shower doesn't have a huge amount of pressure but that was minor as there were so many other positives about our stay. Matariki celebrations were on when we arrived and as so many of the public illegally parked in the Ibis carpark and on the grass we couldn't find a park on the first night.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the negative reviews I had read about this hotel prior to my visit was not really true. Amenities in the room were very satisfactory, coffee, tea, glasses, cups, spoons were all present unlike what some reviews claimed. Rooms, bed, linen were clean, air-conditioning was good, buffet breakfast could have been better, I chose the hot chocolate from the machine but got only warm milk a bit more attention by staff here was required, otherwise staff were friendly and professional. Overall my stay was comfortable, close proximity to the lake front and many restaurants was a plus for the location, complementary secure parking was great too

The breakfast could have been better, fresh coffee/tea and some fresh carrot + celery juice would do wonders to replace a hot beverage vending machine which didn't have all the ingredients and the apple juice didn't taste like apple juice at all and I was forced to leave it after the first sip

Great location and convenient parking - which can be hard to secure in this town. Could walk to all the restaurants and parks in town. Unexpected bonus - they give you a bottle of milk when you check in, which is great for making coffee in the room.

Room was on the small side, which was a bit cumbersome with the luggage which comes with long haul travel. We managed, but would be really hard if you were trying to stay one room as parents with kid(s). Breakfast was available, but seemed quite expensive. However, there are so many great local options within walking distance that it kept us motivated to explore.

Love the location close to the CBD, eat street and the lake front. The room had the air conditioning on when we arrived it was a hot day so that was nice. We walked to eat street for dinner and drinks and didn't need a Uber/ taxi to get back to our room. Clean room comfortable bed. Breakfast was good value on offer was hot Breakfast plus cereals buffet. You receive a bottle of milk at check in and there's tea, coffee, hot chocolate sachets in the room.

We only had 1 bath towel in our room, when we were a couple staying. It wasn't a big deal, we called reception and they arranged for us to pick up 2 bath towels from reception.

Check in queue was so long regardless of checking in before I had arrived. Female Maori at counter was amazing. Pakeha guy didn’t look as though he wanted to be there. Luckily I could hear the female explaining what was going on otherwise I would not have known about parking, being able to utilise the facilities next door. He also couldn’t use initiative to give us milk when she was handing it out if front of him. I assumed we had milk in our fridge but nah, nothing. The unhappy face was because of him.

Our room was suppose to be city view but we were delighted to have a lake/ park view. We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise on Anzac Day from our window. comfy bed and nice shower. The fire alarm went off at 4.30am. It was handled well. We were staying in Rotorua because we had a special Anzac commemoration at Reporoa. My husband's hometown

The room is a bit tight with two big beds. Disappointed with pools at Novotel. They were too cool and busy but I suppose to be expected in school holiday's and Anzac weekend.

The location was perfect for the activities that both my husband and I were going to attend ie Wai Ariki Spa, E Street, and The Lake Front! I had stayed at the Novetal last time but found that IBIS PRICE and LOCATION was MORE AFFORDABLE for us. Although the room was small for us, we only stayed for 1 night and found it very suitable for us to rest our heads after our night activities. All the other amenities that we needed was great ie hair dryer, iron board and iron, The bed was incredibly comfortable, certainly loved it.

Was not sure if we had to bring our own milk as we did not have any in the fridge. Although it said that we had a 'city view', it was more at ground level and we could only see the neighbors over the fence. The parking was a bit confusing, maybe a bit more signage to say we can go underneath. Felt that the entrance was a bit confusing and where the reception area was, maybe it was because their were storage things in entrance way. Maybe better signage directing where the reception was.
