Proper nice single beds instead of bunk beds (experience enhanced as only 1 or 2 persons sharing in 6 bed units). Nice geothermal central heading and views out. Locatuon is perfect for downtown buses abd hot pool access. Friendly staff and other guests, Very relaxed. Can opener was broken (not useable), left note and on my return a few days later, a brend new one - Thanks!

Nothing much you can do about, but very close by is one of the new style exercise gyms with very loud music at DAWN . Quite intrusive!l

The place is in the heart of the city and quite secure as its opposite police station, The rooms are quite spacious The best part is they don't have bunk beds rather they have single beds which are quite comfortable , for heating they use natural geo thermal heater which is quite good.

Although it's quite secure, the room doesn't have a good view as you see all the cops cars, The second shower facility is quite small and old there were only 2 showers on the floor which was quite less.

A cash only deposit for the room key is annoying. I only had a $50 note, and reception had no change, so I had to leave a $50 bill for a key deposit. I got it back, but only when returning to reception when it was open, as I left before it was. If I had to leave before reception opened and couldn’t return, I would have lost my deposit

The location was pretty central - not too far away from the Intercity bus stop in the city center. Sometimes the hostel would smell like sulfur but I'm pretty sure all of Rotorua smells like sulfur depending on how the wind blows. It was a very cozy place - a converted flat. It was quiet and cozy to sleep in and the rooms were welcoming. The common area felt like someone's living room which I really appreciated; it allowed me to relax more easily. The kitchen was very clean and had lots of utensils. There was also an outdoor space which was nice to sit at when sunny.

The room felt stuffy in the night, I think the radiators don't turn off completely so I woke up sweating in the night. There is nowhere to store valuables so if you're worried about them, find a way to lock them yourself. One of the staff was unnecessarily rude about a guest arriving late at 9pm. It would have made me very uncomfortable if someone had yelled at me like that.

Very central location in Rotorua for a reasonable price. Room was spacious with lots of room between beds. Was 2 rooms with old style couches to chill out. Washing line out the back garden that could be used to dry clothes if you didn't want to use the dryer. Large kitchen with 3 hobs and sinks so plenty of space to prepare and cook food.

There was no lockable storage in the room which I didn't like as then you had to bring more expensive tech with you or hide it in the room and hope no one stole it. I also found it annoying that they charged $10 to store your bags once you checked out or before you checked in. In every other hostel this is a common courtesy and seemed like a cheap way to make money off travellers. You have to pay $20 to get a key which wasn't clear before booking. It is returnable upon checkout but the office only opens at a certain time, if you are checking out early for a bus then you have to return the key the night before which is painful to get in and out of your room that evening.

Staff were very friendly. The furnishings were comfortable. The kitchen was clean and tidy, that’s a thank you to the other clients staying there. Location was close to other amenities cafes and coffee shops etc.

Two hours before i arrived, I tried to phoned the receptionist nine times, to inform them I would be late arriving and would arrive nearer to 7:30pm. It took nearly an hour to get an answer.

Lucky to get accomodation here, place inside look old but well designed, cool staff, great people, had their own plates, cups, pans etc. The price is reasonable so I was well looked after.

Not many Maoris or kiwis here, all foreigners but that's why it's called a backpackers, can smell that mud pool scent but that's the heart of Rotorua. And the awful weather ruined a majority of my trip. I could've stayed for 2 more nights but I missed the last room. Nevertheless I left the hostel on a good note.

The hostel is in a very convenient location just a few block from the bus station. I liked the beds as they are on the floor, no top bunks. The room is very spacious with lots of windows for goo ventilation. There is a large well equipped kitchen and a laundry room on site. As with all hostels I stayed in while in New Zealand, nothing is complimentary. No coffee, sugar, soap powder, towel or anything. You will pay a premium for any of these items.

I think coffee and towels are common amenities in all hotels and hostels around the world so I would suggest they try to be more hospitable by offering these common amenities and not treat guest like captive customers for these things.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. You can socialize well in the hostel and everything was clean. Beds are very comfortable and everything is within walking distance.

That you have to pay an extra $10 for luggage storage or if you want to wait some time until the bus schedule after checking out of the hostel.
