STAFF! They're so friendly! One of the housekeepers offered to change the bedding and made me feel welcome. The location is perfect as well. There is a huge lounge and a lot of places to sit and socialize. Also, you can find DVD of movies (I think as I didn't watch anything but I saw others did). It's not crowded and I loved that at least some of the rooms had a couple of proper beds (not bunks). That makes rooms not crowded and it's a nice change if you spend quite a bit of time in hostels.

It's not that I didn't like but I would advise to have paper towels in the kitchen. Then people would be able to wipe their stuff easily. Also, there were no sockets next to my bed but it's such a small thing as you can charge your phone/laptop/anything in the common areas. The hostel is amazing!

Great hostel downtown Rotorua with anything you need in a walking distance, though you’ll need a car for the main geothermal attractions. The bed was comfy and the bathroom really clean and convenient (hair dryer and hair straightener available in the girls bathroom !) Easy check in and check out even after reception hours with a code sent by email and a key box. The only thing is that walls were pretty thin and the girls in the dorm next to us were super loud (not the hostel fault tho). Would def recommend as a solo backpacker, especially with the girls only dorms !

One of the cheapest accomodations in Rotorua but really gave us a better stay that the some motel and hotel with been! I've stayed with Rock Solid twice now. The first stayed was good but this time was better. I was kinda skeptical booking it because I have a 4 month old baby but it was all good. I love how the Receptionist (really sorry I forgot your name he's a guy with blonde long hair) was so jolly and really accommodating. Is so refreshing to see someone who really love help and love his job! I finished my degree at Hotel Management back home and did not pursue here in NZ but seeing him how he do his job and help the guest..surely ignite my passion again in Hospitality (but not jow probably in future😂) The rooms in the second floor is comfortable (never had a bedbugs bite compare to a hotel We've stay last year lets hide the name by Arawa🤭) Rock Solid's toilet was so clean. Location is superb!

This hostel was amazing! Everything was clean, room and bed were super comfortable and kitchen was spacious. Room had large lockers (bring your own lock). Location was great.

Some school groups were staying in the hostel at the same time and they were very loud at times. Not the hostel's fault tho.

The location, just two minutes from the bus stop. The people at reception were so nice and helped with things to do around Rotorua. The hostel is huge, I liked the privacy part about it. You don't get that in every hostel when you're traveling.

The beds were a bit hard and made noises when moving. The kitchen was poorly equipped with only a few pans and pots, could do with some new stuff, especially when it gets busy in the evening, there's not enough to cook with. Female showers are only on the first floor and I was staying on the third, that's a bit annoying. Oh and I feel like they only use the vacuum in the rooms when they feel like it. I was there for three nights and it got dirtier by the day

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The kitchen and shared common spaces gave lots of space for different groups to hang out instead of being confined to your room which was nice. It was fairly easy to get to the highway and there is a grocery store within about a 10 minute walk. We didn't get a chance to check it out but it looked like the area had some night life as well as parks.

Our stay at Rock Solid Backpackers in Rotorua was awesome! The staff was super nice, and check-in was quick and easy. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the playroom was a great touch. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the cookware and cutlery we needed, plus a fridge for storage. Although we only stayed one night, we wished we could have stayed longer—it was such a great experience. We’ll definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Rotorua!

The facilities where amazing and clean there was other activities to do on site The management always went out of there way to make sure you where happy and enjoying your stay And suggested options for activities for you to enjoy in rotorua All the staff where amazing they made sure your needs where meet the level of service from all staff was exceptional

The staff were so amazingly helpful and knowledgeable, especially dale, who not only helped me get a free shuttle service for one thing I was doing but also helped me considerably with other aspects of my trip for well after I would be leaving rotorua

Lots of things to do and a very organized and clean place. The rooms really do need some air conditioning though. Very little airflow and the air gets super stale and gross quickly. Kitchen is nice but the front staff are very quick to help you with any bookings you need.

Need more cooking items like big bowls, sharpen knives. The room was grossly hot, with only one fan that can't reach everyone.
