The backpackers' accommodation you stayed at in Rotorua sounds fantastic! From the location to the amenities, it must have been a memorable experience. I didn't like the mixed room on the first night, but by the third night, I had gotten used to it, and it started to feel normal to me.

The hostel is centrally located so everything in Rotorua is in easy walking distance. Pak&Save is 1/2 km down Fenton Street, Government Gardens is one street away and Kuirua Park is just up Arawa Street. The kitchen & common area is downstairs from the dorms so noise does not travel. No complaints about the bathrooms - clean & the water was hot. Plus check-in was a cinch and the staff were a pleasure.

I booked a Twin Room not realising it was in the center of the building so no windows! A little cramped, to few hooks but very quiet. Also the parking in front of the hostel is only free overnight (5:00pm to 9:00am Monday to Friday) and free all day on Sundays . The pay-by-plate system is $2 an hour, free parking is further away.

All the facilities were clean. The bathroom exceeded my expectations. The kitchen had spices and oils which is exceptional. I loved the outdoor patio. The location was amazing. Near the downtown area, the bus station, stores and restaurants.

No facility gives you everything. This one required five dollars to rent a towel. It’s a good idea when staying at hostels to bring soap, towels, and a hairdryer just in case.

The location was amazing, great information point, bed comfy as, kitchen has everything you need, personally slightly think it was a tad expensive for what it was but maybe that’s the nz prices, overall good vibes tho, comfy couches, good outdoor area, plenty of space in the fridge and everyone was nice

Bit hot in the bedrooms, fan didn’t do that much, and the light came through the curtains at night across from police station was quite annoying, but that’s only if I have to find something to complain about

Dorm room: Able to lock valuables away in a safe, spacious rooms, bathrooms very clean. Kitchen: Always clean and never overly busy. The hostel provides free tea and coffee too! Location: 1 minute walk from the 'isite' where the Intercity bus drops you off. Staff: Very friendly staff member on reception- checked me in early as room was available and when aircon was not working temporarily the issue was fixed very quickly!

Not the most social hostel but great if you want a chilled out and quiet place to stay :)

The kitchen is a bit small for those time in the day when people get hungry. And if the showers could have a handle to choose what water you want. It only came out hot and too hot and I got sun burn so it's not the best for your skin. I was looking for a cooler shower. Also having some more windows in the rooms would be good, at night there was almost no oxygen in them, when the room is crowded of course! Other than that I really enjoyed my stay! Thank you 😊

Location is exceptional, one block from the Information Centre and from the bus stops to go out to Redwoods and Te Puia etc. Not at all noisy which was surprising. Most of the people staying there seemed to be seasonal workers from Germany. The private double room with shared bathroom that we booked was comfortable, clean and the bed was awesome! The kitchen was maybe a little small for the number of people constantly in there but it was maintained clean and well stocked with utensils&pots etc. The free pasta and coffee was helpful for the budget conscious.

More common room space, the couches were taken up by more people than there was space and the outside area with bbq was not clean nor appealing to spend time there.

I love the convenient location! Everything was nearby and there was so much to do. Walking only 2 minutes to/from the InterCity bus terminal was amazing as we used the InterCity busses to get around the North Island during our holiday. Facilities were always clean, staff were very kind and fun to socialize with, and Rotorua was amazing - the Rotorua Downtown Backpackers enhanced our stay :) highly recommend

The location was good. Rather central. Dorm was clean. It was what I expected of a hostel: low cost, a place to sleep. I was surprised that it didn't get too loud at night (might have been because it was a weekday?) Facilities were small but clean (few cubicles, few sinks)

We were told there was no parking but parking available nearby (5 minutes walk). But that parking is actually only free from 5:00 pm to 9:00 am. We had to rush out in the morning. Bunk beds were very squeaky, when one of the occupants moved, the one above or below woke up. Consider a small light source by the bunks.
