The location can't be beat! You're so close to many interesting sites, shopping, grocery stores, and transportation. The staff here are also incredibly helpful and friendly. They are very responsive to requests. The rooms are a bit older compared to other offerings in the city, but they offer a lot of great space and are comfortable. There's also not a lot of noise from the neighborhood at night which is a big plus for light sleepers.

The cleaning seemed a bit inconsistent. Sometimes it was like the scrubbed the room top to bottom, other times they missed areas for cleaning, like under the table. It wasn't enough to ruin anything but a bit more attention would have been nice.

Great location, and really fun and friendly receptionists. Rooms were great, I tried a studio and a 1 bedroom suite. Preferred the suite , but studio was great too. Beautiful high ceilings, spacious, and a glorious bathroom in all rooms we visited.

Dated. It's well maintained, but feels like it's been a number decades since it's been redecorated. It is an art deco building, and the art deco features (lift, lobby, carpet designs in the halls, were perfect) ~ but the rooms themselves were totally adequate, but felt like they were last done (and done well) in about 1993 or 1994. Could be wrong, but that's my impression.

Booking a room at Quest Wellington on Hunter Street turned out to be a fun way to rediscover my own city. Part of the Quest chain, the hotel’s central location was perfect for my CubaDupa weekend—Wellington’s lively street festival. Being steps away from the action meant I could soak up music, food, and crowds late into the night without stressing about getting “home”. The best part? Letting myself in after midnight with the hassle-free electronic key system (no need to wait for staff, which was handy). Waking up in the heart of the city felt indulgent, like a mini-vacation without the travel. The hotel’s Art Deco roots give it a retro charm. Yes, the decor leans classic rather than modern, but the stone fireplaces and vintage details felt right at home in Wellington’s historic streetscape. My room was practical—kitchenette, comfy bed, solid shower—and kept clean. Staff were friendly during daytime interactions, though late-night arrivals are clearly designed for self-service (a plus for introverts or festival zombies like me). A highlight was wandering to Neo Café on Willis Street the next morning—a local favorite with killer coffee and breakfast bowls. The walkability here is a win: museums, shops, and the waterfront are all nearby. That said, if you’re driving, parking might be tricky (I skipped the car, but worth noting for road-trippers). Quest Wellington isn’t about glitz, but it nails convenience and character. Whether you’re hosting visitors, craving a staycation reset, or just want to lean into Wellington’s quirks, this spot delivers. Sometimes seeing your city through a hotel window is all it takes to remember why you love it.

Great location for the city and quay area, with many alternatives to eat, have coffee, etc. Plenty of space in the apartment. Huge bathroom, useful kitchen area and great to have a washing machine and dryer. Bed very comfortable. Good selection of channels on TV.

Despite specifically requesting at reception that they weren't, our towels were changed every day. They had the usual environmental notice in the bathroom about hanging things up if you don't want them changed, but this seemed to be just for show. Staying for just a few nights (e.g. up to 4) they should only change towels if specifically requested - it is wasteful to do anything else.

Large apartment with plenty of space, decently equipped kitchen (good for a few nights stay) and large bathroom. Well situated in Wellington. Staff are helpful and friendly. Pretty clean and tidy room, clean bed linen. Nice building decor. Great price, especially considering the time of year. I would go back there.

No air-conditioning and opening the window means noisy traffic/engineering work/other guests arguing loudly for much of the night. Bed was somewhat uncomfortable. Cracked bathroom sink, old tiles/grouting. Some of this stuff isn't really the fault of the hotel, but certainly something to consider if staying.

Quest is in central Wellington and very handy for everything. The harbour, the cable car, bus routes, museums and restaurants and cafes are all a short walk away. There's parking right outside the hotel for 5 minutes only, just for unloading, but there are multi-storey car parks round the corner. The hotel is a $20 taxi from the harbour. Our suite was really nice and had everything in it that we needed and we cooked a couple of meals. The bedroom was very comfortable. Being able to do some laundry in the washing machine and tumble drier was very helpful. The absolute highlight was the shower which had colossal water pressure.

This studio is located in an old beautiful building. The rooms are not quite new but for this price excellent. The bed was good, heating worked well, the windows can be opened and shut out the noise quite well (at night there is not much noise anymore). I liked the bathroom with lots of storage areas. I did not cook but as far as I could see there was everything needed.

The chairs at the table were far too low. There are only very few TV channels. The socket for plugging in the laptop on the table was behind the wardrobe - a bit difficult to get to.

My room was huge! Furnished in a lovely antique style and super comfortable, with a table and 2 chairs, a large wooden wardrobe and 2 velvet covered armchairs. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was high quality. There is a mini kitchen, which is great - and also a washing machine in the large, tiled bathroom. I've stayed here several times as it's such an amazing central spot, and only a 5 min walk to the waterfront. There's a handy cafe next door in the Old Bank Arcade, plus several other stylish shops - you're literally a 10 second walk to Lambton Quay, where there is everything you need, including two mini supermarkets, a Chemist, and the Cable Car! Be sensible and bring ear plugs as you're in the middle of a city. This hotel is the best value in Wellington!! I also thoroughly recommend a visit to La Cloche - a nearby French cafe on Featherston St. Divine.

No air con, but the fan worked well, and as it was (unusually) warm for Wellington, I needed it.

The customer service was amazing. The staff were super friendly and gave a welcoming vibe. The location for the hotel was great as it is near the supermarket, cafes, and a bus stop. The room was big enough for two people. The room also comes with a laundry machine and dryer, which is great.

The bathroom was a bit old and chipped. Also, the opening hour for the front desk was from 9 am, so you have to tell the staff if you are going to check out early. But the staff were super friendly so they will help you out

Love staying here when in Wellington. Everything from location to lovely bed furniture washer and dryer. Good kitchen, bathroom is huge. Big fridge holds lots for longer stays. Close to Supermarket and buses. walks to Te Papa or shops etc. We love this place.

Starting to date carpet is grubby stains and just dirty looking. Apart from the loading of your luggage to hotel no park or the buses toot you if your in there lane. Motorbikes parked there too so can't unload safely...that is annoying if you have to bring your bags in the rain along the road from Wilson parking lot where you pay for parking per day. If you have a taxis they can't stop really outside either. If elderly need to be dropped quickly watch the bus lane.
