Location is great for meetings in the business district. Staff are friendly and helpful. NZ charm on full display. Fresh milk in the fridge was nice. Rooms can be large and furnished in the style of the building, which is quaint 1940s. Beds are quite soft. This is a positive for me. Bathroom was old-style but relatively new. Ironing board and iron were also relatively new.
Loved having the ability to open windows but garbage collection and some industrial noise from next building at 3am was not good. Closing the old thin- glass windows didn't help. More power points could also be useful but 1940s guests didn't have the same requirements as 2025.

What a gem in the city centre. Like going back in time to a beautiful country home with a massive claw foot bath, a dining table area off the bedroom space but all the mod cons as well. We didn't see any staff because we were there on the weekend. however the checkin and check out were really well managed. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it.
Nothing could be better - it was a superb hotel. The dining area/coffee shop wasn't open because it was a weekend, but there were lots of eating spots only a few minutes walk away.

Location, but mostly I loved the beauty of the hotel. I’m a sucker for old heritage buildings and the features in this are gorgeous. I can’t wait to see what is done next.
There were no staff when I arrived even though I was there in the 3 hours it said it would be staffed. It took me a while to realise I had an email with access details! Also I wish the restaurant had of been open in the weekend but I understand it wouldn’t have been viable. I’ll come back on a weekday next time to try it.

The hotel was an amazing historical building and our room beautifully and sympathetically designed. The bed was very comfortable along with a lovely bathroom. The position so close to the historic dock area with superb restaurants and bars plus the renowned Te Papa museum was outstanding.
Unsecured Wifi and the toilet was spotless but being in an old building did make a loud noise for 5 minutes once flushed. If both taps were run the noise quietened. This was only a problem if it had to be flushed in the middle of the night.

The rooms and bathrooms are a high standard, however there is loud noise when you flush the toilet. The windows of the building are very old and drafty you can hear the traffic. There is no breakfast available scones or cake only however there is an additional little place sells bacon rolls which are tasty. No maned reception after 5pm lock box which worked OK but arriving after 6pm and dark with no person on duty left it more difficult to find dinner taxi etc.

A beautiful heritage hotel that was just a little bit more interesting than a standard hotel room. We picked this hotel as it had some charm to it. The staff were incredible and left us very clear and easy instructions as we checked in very, very late. The room and the bathroom were spacious, clean and well equipped. We particularly loved the older lift and the charm it brought. The hotel itself is wonderfully situated central to everything you could ask for. 10/10 would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thank you to all the staff who do such great work.

Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. I really enjoyed having a bath in my room! The hotel seemed understaffed but regardless the service was great and friendly. My luggage was stored for me the next day after check out for no charge.
The on site coffee shop has limited opening hours (8am-2:30pm) and only during the weekdays. However there is a kettle in the room with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk and plenty of cafes around :)

Fantastic old school style meets modern luxury. A real balance between charm and practicality. Our room was large and had a desk, two comfortable chairs, large bed, a huge bath and a double shower. All done with Air-conditioning! The staff pleasant and accommodating.
The restaurant was a coffee shop and what looked like the back room of the reception area a sandwich bar which my wife and I were confused about how it worked. both shut at 2:30 in the afternoon, so sort of left us wondering where to eat? OR get coffee, Big opportunity here as many places to eat, drink, seemed to be at the South end of town... OR we miss understood what was actually on offer?

Stunning heritage hotel, beautifully restored, keeping its charming original heritage features, combined with all the modern comforts and conveniences. Very quiet and peaceful even in the middle of the city. Fantastic central location, great for ditching the car and walking to places. Great staff, very professional and helpful and friendly. Amazing facilities, plentiful hot running water, handy delicious cafe in the hotel.
Not applicable - it was all wonderful

Cool boutique hotel loved the vibe of the old house nice and close to waterfront and stores & restaurants. Clean and comfortable and a nice change from chain hotel experience.
The old elevator took a bit of getting used to - but it was quirky and fun. Hard to fit the luggage cart into. Also somewhat unusual to have no staff on site at night but the self check in was clear. We had no issues so it didn’t matter to us.
