Great and friendly staff willing to help solve issues, comfortable and pretty well cleaned rooms despite a few small bumps, scratches and the occasional stain.

Air conditioning in most rooms is a tiny ancient little machine that seems to struggle to keep the room at a comfortable temperature. Chromecast on the TVs was absolutely horrible and a massive pain to get working with connection issues constantly and it dropping in and out multiple times a day. Outright could not connect on my phone after the 2nd day and it was a struggle to get it to work on my partner's phone.

the location of this hotel is exceptional - wellington at the doorsteps with everything completely accessible. Whether there for sports/events or just to explore, Rydges is a great location and comfortable stay. We didn’t have much interaction with staff, Room/beds comfortable and spacious, clean and great views.

The bathroom was somewhat outdated and the digital television (SkyTV) stopped working for a good hour + while the all blacks were on and other sports we were back at the hotel for to relax and enjoy after an event and big day out. But these are very minor to what was a fantastic and comfortable stay.

Our stay at the rydges overall was pretty good, we'll be using them again for sure. The room was well sized and beds were super comfy. The tv and heat pump worked intermittently even with resetting the tv every time we used it. That staff were super helpful. The bar staff gave amazing service and good drinks. The restaurant meals were great! Location was great, was able to walk the whole of central wellington from there. Overall loved it :)

Tv not working half of the time, chrome cast decided it wouldn't work with my phone and then eventually my partners too.

The location was perfect. Close to everything. We arrived on the train from Auckland and this hotel is 5 minutes walk from the train station. Also there is a free shuttle at the train station that runs to and from the picton interislander. The staff are friendly, the pool was great and our room was clean and ok (twin room). Next time we will upgrade to a king room to make it the perfect couple getaway. The restaurant Portlander served great food especially the hot chips for a late night snack.

Just the pillows. My husband said they were horrible (he's a side and back sleeper).

Easy and quick check-in and check-out. Fantastic service by Georgia; professional, helpful, all round brilliant hospitality. What a credit to the hotel she is. Room was spacious with gorgeous views, bed was so comfy, bathroom was lovely and modern. The room was equipped with cutlery and small sized crockery, which was perfect for us as we were happy to get a takeaway and enjoy staying in our lovely room for the night. We did venture down to the hotel bar later on in the evening for a nightcap, and received great service and drinks. Great selection of teas, both regular and decaf coffee, and even hot chocolate sachets. Well stocked mini bar, although we didn’t utilise it. The real highlight was enjoying the pool, jacuzzi and sauna the following morning and we had it all to ourselves.

We liked everything- if I was being really picky, I would say the room was cold when we arrived and the heating took a long time to get up to our required temperature. There is a spare blanket in the wardrobe though which made all the difference.

We bookeded rydges for my husband's 60th Birthday and our wedding anniversary. We stayed 3 nights, Great location, great view, room was clean. Chromecast didn't work from day 1 which was reported twice in person to the people on reception, unfortunately problem wasn't resolved or communicated back to us with a resolution. No biggy for us but would have been nice to have fixed. Air Con quite noisy, and blowing direct onto oneside of the bed, couldn't have it on at night if you are a light sleeper. Overall was a central place to stay which was good

AirCon too noisy, Chromecast issue wasn't resolved and wasn't communicated back to us.

Some staff were quite aloof, not wanting to help, rolling their eyes at guests. Not sure why they work in hospitality. For example: We checked in with 4 people, and there were only 3 towels in the room, even with daily housekeeping, they only put 3 towels in. So everyday we had to ask for an extra towel and the staff made us feel like it was an inconvenience to them. We asked about places for dinner, they didn't seem to know the area well. Rooms are dated but rates are reasonable and reflect this.

The rooms are outdated, with broken lamps, light bulbs not working. The bathroom area wasn't cleaned properly on day two of our stay, with soap scum and fingerprints all around the basin. The gym is adequate although the weights range from 12kgs to 30kgs. Absolutely need some lighter weights! There is no cleaning product to wipe down your machines after use. Small gym sized towels oould also be helpful. The sauna is too cold.

Everything was PERFECT. We had an easy check in and room upgrade to 16th floor , balcony YAY, view YAY, bed was super comfortable, pillows fabulous. No idea if tv worked we explored Wellington and just used the hotel to sleep and one dinner on site. Bonus little kitchen with a microwave - not used and a toaster which was super, saved loads on breakfast had my plunger coffee and toast in the room before heading out to explore. So quiet in the hotel , I was amazed especially being in the hub of the city. I most definitely will stay here again. Shame about the weather but hey it’s Wellington remember to take warm gear and raincoats.

The restaurant was fine but does not cater for vegetarian or vegan . Very meaty menu with lots of options for carnivores but not much good for plant based eaters

Great, attractive room and kitchen amenities. Excellent location for a pedestrian arriving from ferry shuttle (very short walk from train station dropoff). The nearby dedicated airport city bus at platform B makes for an easy, cheap ride to airport, or even other points in city. Not too far to walk from downtown. Nice to see a room with some interesting decor rather than stark black and white , I am so sick of blahck and grey. And a bathtub was so nice for a tired bod. Great bed.
