This hotel has an excellent location in the city centre, just by the river and within walking distance of numerous restaurants and shops. The building itself is beautifully renovated, blending modern comforts with historic charm. Everything was spotlessly clean, and our room was very comfortable. We stayed on the third floor, so we weren’t disturbed by any train noise, which could be an issue for lower-floor rooms closer to the tracks. The air conditioning was a great feature, especially since the room tended to get quite warm. Breakfast was generally good, with a nice selection of fresh and homemade items. The pumpkin bread and homemade cakes were absolutely delicious! However, we felt that there could be a bit more variety—especially more scrambled eggs, bacon, and white toast bread. These additions would make the breakfast even better. Overall, this is a fantastic hotel in a prime location, with clean and comfortable rooms and a lovely atmosphere. A slightly expanded breakfast selection would make the experience even better, but we would definitely stay here again! Ps. The elevator is slow but just take the stairs if you can. It's much more healthy and sustainable.

This is a beautifully restored hotel that doesn’t look like much from the outside, but is just delightful on the interior. The owner-manager spent literally years carefully and thoroughly renovating this nearly 150 year old building, carefully preserving many old architectural elements that provide a truly charming atmosphere. The result is stunning! Also the breakfast buffet was amazing with such a wide array of delicious choices. Our stay here was well worth the slightly higher rate. The front desk staff turned out to be the owner and she was so helpful in directing us in exploring an old, nearby town that suited our interests perfectly.

The town itself has little to offer, but serves as a good hub for the surrounding area.

The hotel is perfectly located on one of the main streets of Peso Da Regua. The hotel is located in a historic building that has been restored very expertly. Many historic wall and ceiling surfaces have been left uncovered and exposed, forming a highly decorative interior element. The hotel had a sales point where unique local handicraft souvenirs were sold. Of course, the famous wines of the Douro region were also on sale. The hotel room was bigger than expected, clean and furnished with everything you need. The personal greeting card in the room made you feel welcome. The hotel wifi worked flawlessly. The hotel staff was extremely kind and friendly. The latte served at night in the lobby bar was one of the best we've ever had. Breakfast turned out to be the biggest and most pleasant surprise. Personal greeting cards awaited us at the breakfast table. The breakfast buffet had such a large selection that you don't often see even in 5-star hotels. Everything offered was fresh, tasty and locally sourced. Peso Da Regua may not be much of a tourist destination, but its location between the Douro wine region and Porto is very suitable for a stopover. Be sure to book a stay at the Original Douro Hotel, it's worth it!

Everything was great.

We booked a last minute room and we were welcomed with kindness and a beautiful big room from our family! They even left a book and a toy for our son, which he loved! breakfast wa great, with many local fresh products. Thank you,we will definitely come back!

the steet was a bit noisy in the morning but nothing major!

The staff was superb!!! They helped us with transportation, dining reservations, tasting reservation and basically made the trip what it was! The location was terrific and the room was lovely.

The only 2 recommendations I have would be coffee makers in the room OR coffee set up in the lobby starting very early, as it was not available until 8 am. Also a larger waste basket in the room. These are not complaints but recommendations.

This was a perfect location. Within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants, the train and bus, it’s a few minutes from the Douro River, the room was clean and comfortable. The best part was the two wonderful women working the front desk. We had no plan as to what to do while in Ragua, and they helped us plan a perfect day in Panhoe (sp?) via a short train ride, a tour of a famous winery and a boat tour of the Douro River. They were exceptional. Highly recommended.

We loved this hotel! We loved how they incorporated so many of the original features of the hotel to create a beautiful and unique atmosphere. Beds were comfy, showers hot, breakfast was yummy, location was great. The staff were so kind and accommodating. We would definitely stay again. My sister stayed in the suite and it was massive and very beautiful. Our room was so lovely too.

Check in was very late at 4pm, however they do provide luggage storage. Rooms weren’t soundproofed, I could hear people through their doors but it wasn’t busy so it was no problem.

The architectural renovation was beautifully done and had inspired touches of preserving the integrity of the original structure while making it modern and elegant. The stay was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was amazing! Delicious homemade everything was a treat! The room was clean and comfortable. The location in Douro Vally is perfect.

The coffee could have been better.

Everything! For train lovers, it is the right setting, next to the train station. Our bedroom even had a balcony almost on top of the train track! It is noisy when the train passes, but it's all part of the experience. Amazing breakfast!

Our stay fell on the day the lights went out in Portugal (apagão) and the staff went to great lengths to help overcome the incident. Nothing to fault.

It's an ideal place for an overnight stay whilst taking the Miradouro Train from Porto up and down the Douro Valley. We had a beautiful, spotlessly clean room with a balcony. The young staff were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed some small snacks there with a lovely Douro red wine (of course!) in the afternoon, and a lovely breakfast, with a lot of variety in the morning. The hotel is very convenient for the railway station. A perfect stay, thank you! ❤️
