We absolutely LOVED our stay at the Casal dos Capelinhos - Douro! From the location of the beautiful, modern quinta, the friendly, professional, & very charming staff, to the food & wine offered on site, we had such a wonderful & relaxing time during our stay. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying at this place. Having only eight rooms available in a variety of sizes, the rooms are set into small clusters with an emphasis on privacy & a small indoor space & loads of little outdoor spaces to enjoy a glass of wine, lounge by the pool, all while being surrounded by an active vineyard. Visitors can schedule a wine tasting, or wander through the vineyard & experience a true working quinta. I’m almost hesitant to write this review, because I know it means that the secret is out!

I could write an essay about our stay in Casal dos Capelinhos, because it was the best stay we ever had. From the start to finish, everything was beyond perfection. The location, the room, the views just incredible! What made this place special were people there, we adore every single one of them. They made us feel like home and we were very sad when we had to go. Me and my family will come back for sure, and for a longer period next time, because this place made us feel relaxed and we enjoyed it so much. Casal dos Capelinhos is very secure, the property is very big and beautiful. There is fruit garden below the main house and we were enjoying oranges and mandarines everyday. One of the most special things about this place is the food. We had breakfast and dinner everyday and it was just so good. I can not express how awesome and delicious all the food was. Marlene, the chef, she is the sweetest and let me tell you, she knows how to cook. While writing this review, we are just checking when can we come back. :)

Can't even start to describe how at home we felt in this place. Tomás and Miguel, our hosts made us feel special. Their suggestions were awesome and their stories highly entertaining. Pedro, the wine maker, made us taste an amazing vintage port and some other awesome wines. The wine dispenser was awesome! The chef Marlene and Isabel made our breakfast and dinner experience unforgettable. We had bookings in other restaurants and ended up canceling them all to eat their incredible creative meals. Will be back soon and will suggest it to all my friends. Kenny the dog was also a highlight. Gorgeous:)

Located in the midst of a little town in the Douro Valley, the property is just stunning, has amazing views, amenities, a great pool, and they understand how to make one feel welcome and pampered. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and did an amazing job at accommodating individual needs. One of the days, when we had an early start planned, they provided a stunning and yum take-away breakfast pack. Our room was very nicely designed and furnished. Great A/C as well. Breakfast was freshly and mostly home-made with plenty of fresh food. One can ask for on-the spot eggs in various shapes and forms if wanted. The pre-booked dinner on our arrival day was absolutely amazing; four abundant and very yum courses served on the terrace. A 1.5 hour wine tasting of their own-produced wine and port was another great opportunity to get ti know the property and the surroundings. All in all a real treat!

Where do we start? The view, gardens and location were amazing. The service was superb. Such a personal touch and genuine staff. The breakfasts and dinners were amazing, served by a passionate and extremely kind chef using local ingredients. Wine and port were served by the owner himself. And the pool was such a refreshing end to a couple of very hot days. We can’t recommend this Quinta enough.

Location is amazing! Its in the vineyards. Stuff was very friendly. Lady from the reception booked a dinner for us in the near town, we just chose a place from a list of her recomendations and she did a call. We had a wine tasting in the property. Same lady explained to us about Douro region and wines. There is a walking track in the vineyards with QR codes. Breakfast was amazing.

Like in many places in south, sound isolation trough the doors could be better.

The staff went above and beyond to make you feel special, but also gave you complete privacy. The food and snacks are outstanding, wine delicious and details of the hotel perfect. Everything is fresh and clean, the love for the place is felt immediately. It was great to go as a couple, but I'd also enjoy going with the whole family. It's a place to relax, a real gem. We can't wait to go back!

The AC worked but wasn't able to keep up with the extremely high temperatures. If you're used to having ice cold room temperatures you might find it uncomfortable, but we enjoyed the fresh douro air so made the most of it. The pool is perfect to fight the heat.

Friendly Staff, beautiful grounds and setting, amazing dinner and breakfast, yummy port wine and homemade olive oil and jam. Funny chihuahua vineyard dog named Kenny.

The 2 bed room unit is hard to access requiring you to use a narrow spiral staircase. Harder with a baby. Wish they had an area with microwave for our baby’s oatmeal. We wish we could have interacted more with the owner who live on premise.

The owners are passionate about their country and their terroir. They are especially accommodating and attentive to your expectations. We were able to enjoy a delicious home-made supper with garden products on a Fado background. The wine tasting was both oenological and poetic. I highly recommend this place if you want to recharge your batteries, drink well, eat well and sleep well.

Bedside tables would be useful to have in the room.
