Fabulous hotel in Porto. Close to Sao, Catarina and all the other places I was interested in. So easy to get everywhere from here. The staff were absolutely brilliant. Hugo was lovely, so helpful and gave us an amazing room, João was so great and helpful too. Magda as well. Special thanks to Pedro in Tabu, the hotel restaurant, who was fantastic to us at dinner. Patricia and Catia were lovely at breakfast, too. I didn't get the name of the girl who served us for lunch before we checked in - she was also great. Wonderful experience at this hotel. Highly recommended.

The initial woman at check in who was raised in the UK - a tad frosty. Unnecessary.

The rooms are very quiet, abundant breakfast, complimentary water, coffee; cookies and apples at the reception; very central location, parking available (17.5€ / night), Christmas market is just in front of the hotel. The room has a mini-desk and good WiFi connection. Post office is 2 min away, if you wish to send postcards.

You could check in advance but you have to choose a room. As soon as you have chosen the room, it will be the one given to you, when you arrive. If this specific room is not available, you have to wait until 15:00. Some of the breakfast options are finished in a short period of time and then personnel need 10-15 minutes to bring more food. I do not know, why it takes so long - either not enough staff or too slow service. For example, pastel de nata mini-desserts are taken very fast. There is no view from the room. Unfortunately, it is not possible to get to the hotel by car but the car can be parked at another NH hotel, which is 5 min away on foot.

The building itself is nice and beautiful. The hotel was established in a historic building with a beautifully designed interior. The breakfast was nice and varied, and the swimming pool was good too. The room was nice, bright, and very comfortable. The hotel close walking to the city centre and other places.

Fabulous view of Batalha square from the room. Really good breakfasts, lots of choice and staff on the ball with service and replenishments.

Aware the building has history and is in the square but there was not any outside seating available of any kind - we missed sitting in the sun with a cocktail ahead of dinner. Many of the cafe's next to the hotel had put tables & chairs outside their establishments on the main Batalha square, perhaps the hotel could do this in the future?

Very friendly and helpful staff at reception on arrival. The room was very comfortable with huge bed. Everything was on offer for breakfast which was until 12pm on a weekend. Good location for many of the main areas and some great places to eat...Casa Geudes Rooftop was really good.

The maps show a tram line outside the hotel but these don't work. Plenty of buses though and an easy walk down to the river.

The property is an iconic building in central Porto which has been refurbished to a high standard. The entrance hall and reception are very well appointed and the plaza immediately outside the hotel leads within a km to the cathedral.

We were disappointed with our room. NH are usually very modern but the pictures on the website revealed a reburbishment in the old style with lots of points of original interest. We asked for a superior room which we assume would have interest old style features. But our room was modern and without any features whatsoever. Comfortable but very dull.

Hotel was perfect and centrally located to the sites. We had a premium room with a balcony that overlooked the city. Breakfast was included and offered many varieties. The hotel also offered lemonade, water, apples and small cookies at the front desk. Staff was professional and courteous. We were pleased choosing this hotel.

The location was good - high on the hill overlooking the river. The hotel is in a square where there are some bars and restaurants and close to the town centre. I did not realise however how hilly the area is! We had room only and the room was spacious, spotlessly clean and airy. The bathroom was lovely and again, spotless. There were little nice touches, such as complimentary water and vouchers to sample Port wine.

We found the dining and bar area a little "sterile" and quiet. We were surprised at the lack of general maintenance to some communal areas around the bedrooms. Scuffed walls and doors and there is evidence that a little TLC is needed for a four star hotel.

on this trip our first and last hotels were NHs.The bedding, especially the three different sized pillows and the mattress were very fresh, clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This particular property really ticks a lot of boxes at a good value for the price point.

The property itself is fantastic. The facade is old world Porto, the lobby has architectural arches mixed in with modern renovations. Key card access to room floors, security cameras and lots of staff around. Very convenient to all top tourist attractions by foot; however, the square directly in front of the hotel and the National Theater across the street are hangouts for homeless/rougher elements. We were a mother/young adult daughter traveling together, so we were coming back together and not too late. You can see that other cafes/restaurants on the square have mixed family/ young student/ adult customers. I would just keep this in mind if you were traveling alone and/or thinking about coming back very late by foot.

The location is perfect for discovering Porto and only a short walk to the Funicular that takes you down to river level if you have had enough of the hilly streets. Our room was quite small but had a balcony overlooking the square which was delightful. We don't normally expect hotel restaurants to be of a particularly high standard but the restaurant here was exceptionally good and we dined there twice. Live music in the bar later one night was good too - a very talented guitarist. Staff were very helpful. We will stay again if we revisit Porto.

Parking was not on site. We unpacked the car and then took it to secure parking the hotel has near by - that said the concierge travelled with us to the car park to ensure we did not get lost and to let us in as it is very secure.
