Extremely convenient location close to Edinburgh Waverley Station

It had no obvious drawbacks

The location was fantastic and the staff were great. The room was really comfortable and spacious, which made this perfect for a week-long stay. The hotel had a wonderful sense of luxury to it.

It was very expensive with inflated rates due to us staying over festival time (unavoidable). There was a small gap under the front door letting in light and noise from the hallway, which took away from a sense of privacy. The shower took some getting used to, as you had to open the door a certain way when finished to avoid flooding the bathroom floor. These were minor things, however, and didn't take away from our overall experience.

Location was great, Hotel really good location for sightseeing.

Sadly the dining room was being refurbished when we stayed and the conference room was being used as the dining room on the same floor as our rooms. The strong smell of fish travelled throughout our rooms on seventh floor. The Wi-Fi was also weak in our rooms.

- the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were also very helpful with our luggage and gave us tips on what activities to do - the hotel restaurant was good. Had limited options in the menu but the food was delicious - the location was perfect. It was within walking distance of most of the attractions im Edinburgh (like the royal mile, calton hill, Edinburgh castle, etc). - There is a shortcut to waverly station via the hotel elevator by going to the basement level. It places you directly in front of the station - The beds and pillows were very comfortable

- it didnt have a nice view (we were situated on the fourth floor). The rooms overlooked the alleyways

Great location and friendly helpful staff. Our room was clean and spacious although some of the main lighting was flickering. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The spa, small gym and pool looked good, although we didn’t use them.

We were disappointed with breakfast, in particular the buffet which in comparison to other hotels lacked variety, particularly if later to breakfast which we tended to be. I feel the variety and standard of food should remain the same for the entire service. Did feel rushed one day when we were eating late. The rate for our stay was expensive, I know it’s during the festival so we expected to pay more, but hoped the breakfast would therefore be better.

The hotel itself is a 6min walk from the train station and right in the heart of Edinburgh, there are loads of little cafes and cake shops dotted about from the second you walk out of the hotel itself. The staff were super helpful when we arrived before check-in time they happily sorted our bags until check-in time, allowing us to explore and grab some lunch before getting settled into the room. We didn't take advantage of the bar & restaurant on this visit but after seeing the stunning menu and drinks on offer we will be taking full advantage of it on our next visit. The room was amazing. The bath was incredibly deep and very easy to lose track of time in. The room itself was spacious, with the tea, mini fridge, filtered water air con. Everything made everything feel very comfortable. If you are after a great night's sleep I highly recommend their beds as it was hard to leave them in the morning. However if you do manage to leave the comfort of the beds I can say taking a morning dip in the pool is well worth the trip, don't fancy a swim then take advantage of the suna and steam room which will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. Highly recommend a visit, we've already rebooked for later on this year. Can't wait to stay again.

What’s not to like about this property? Location is great. Five minutes walk from the station, buses and trams closer by enabling you to get anywhere. The hotel is elegant and comfortable. The superior twin room is a good size, clean and comfortable with a fabulous bathroom with a separate bath and shower and lots of space. The restaurant is great and food arrived hot, tasty and quickly. The chef kindly prepared a meal that my friend could eat that wasn’t exactly on the menu because of her dietary requirements. This hotel is great for people with mobility issues. The device for getting wheelchairs, walkers up steps is absolutely genius! The jewel in the crown of this hotel though, is its staff….particularly the reception staff. David, Alice and Martin are diamonds. They were always ready to help with anything and always with a smile. It was much appreciated.

The room was excellent as it was on the top floor and gave us the best views of Edinburgh, and was furthest away from the noise. The bathroom facilities were also great. The central location of this place is also very handy. I must also give my commendation to the excellent reception staff when we arrived much later than we should have (because of delays caused by the train we took) who were very helpful in telling how to get refreshment so late we arrived.

I wish there were more options when it came to the availability of food and drink from within the hotel itself. However, being so centrally located meant that there were other places to go outside.

* Brilliant location * Friendly staff * Large, comfortable family rooms * Rubber ducky to take home * Tasty breakfast * Umbrellas to borrow * Optional extras (including early check-in/late check-out, bathrobes and slippers) The point of excellence for this hotel was how they dealt with an unexpected hiccup regarding availability of facilities. Things inevitably go wrong from time to time whenever (and wherever!) you travel, often due to circumstances beyond anyone's control. When that happened here, the staff went above and beyond to ensure this didn't affect our stay. They offered an alternative and, when they learnt this would not work for our family group, they took excellent care to ensure we're kept informed on the progress of rectifying the situation and checked up on us to ensure we're ok with how things were being managed. Travelling with kids can be stressful (even more so with kids with additional needs!) but little acts of care and kindness like these from the hotel staff can really help with managing these stresses.

Scottish weather! ;) On a serious note though, nothing to dislike at all. My only suggestion would be to install, if possible, the little drying machines for swimsuits at the pool but not sure how feasible this is or how environmentally friendly these machines are!

Brilliant location, plenty of space in the bedroom room and large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, hand/body soap and lotion in bathroom no chance of ever running out, comfy large bed. Breakfast plenty of choice and always tasty

Trying to add a service charge when ordering drinks at the bar in person, as 1st time having a drink in the bar we were told to take a seat in the bar and drinks were bought to us then the final bill had a 12.5% service charge added, so after that thought we’ll just order at the bar, but again the service charge was added but told them to remove which they did.
