The hotel is great for all of Edinburgh's attractions plus fantastic for shopping. Its location is very slightly removed from the main drinking areas so its quiet at night despite also being really accessible. It has a tram stop right outside if you're coming in from the airport or want to explore Leith. Parking at the Omni is just a minute's walk away and that's also very accessible and safe. Room was extremely clean, very comfortable. The breakfast is great - loads of choice and extremely well run. Also unlimited tea and coffee available 24/7. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel has steps to the front and about 10 steps down inside the lobby to get to the ground floor rooms and the lift. There is a wheelchair lift but nothing for heavy cases. The guy on reception carried our suitcases down for us, but the staps are a bi of an effort with heavy luggage. Holiday Inn have several Edinburgh hotels so it would be worth considering if this would be a major issue for you.

The staff were super friendly and even though it’s an old building the staff and management have done all they can to make it as comfortable as possible . Some things like lack of access to a ramp and using stairs at the entrance is what the building has to offer and more of a design issue . The lift is dated but it is well maintained and it works perfectly fine and that’s what you need. The breakfast spread was fantastic and every single staff member are such a pleasure to interact with . It’s a really good hotel with everyone doing their best with the facilities they have been given to manage . The stay was comfortable and we would come back again .

The entrance. You have to carry your luggage up the flight of stairs and if you have an elderly parents with knee or leg issues they struggle to walk up and . The air-con once turned on is self regulated and turns off after some time perhaps to maintain an optimum temperature .

The room was clean, nice and very functional. The location of the hotel was great as it was central to all tourist hotspots. The breakfast was very well rounded with an option for every requirement. But what my family and I loved the most was the 24/7 complimentary tea and coffee station in the hotel. It was easily the best feature. We have recommended this hotel to many of our friends and we hope to visit again soon.

There was no accommodation for guests with luggages like tourists. Although there were lifts to each floor, there were a few short stairs within floors that we had to carry the luggages over, which was difficult as they were big, heavy suitcases since we were travelling from another country.

Location is excellent. Right in the Centre of the city. One can walk down to most of the happening places. Many restaurants around.

Check in was a bit of challenge. We were given rooms on the 6th level. Unfortunately, that day the lift to the 6th floor was not functional. So, all of us with kids and baggage had to use the lift going to 5th floor. From 5th floor we had to climb the stairs to the 6th floor carrying our heavy luggage. There were few of us who were of old age, and we had some difficulty in reaching our rooms. Also, there is a slope or steps from the lobby to the lift landing area. This also proved to be a bit of challenge, what with the heavy baggage that we were carrying.

Staff at the front desk were very helpful and pleasant at all times. The coffee machines were great. A few snacks available all day, such as rolls and some fruit. Beds were very comfortable. Room had an iron and ironing board. Room was very clean. Trams and busses stop just across the street. A few places to eat nearby.

Dining room was freezing. Cold outside, around 10 C, while the dining room was even colder with 5 A/C's running during breakfast. I had to wear a coat the entire time while eating. Breakfast, the only meal available, was so-so. Basic stuff. The blanket was too warm. I had to keep the window open to counter the warmth of the blanket. No face cloth in the bathroom. Needed a few more hangers. 4 available.

Location is great. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Had three rooms with three different check ins over a 12 day period. Each room was different, some better than others. Last room was for handicaps - poor designed sink- no reason for a tiny 15" stand alone sink - water everywhere. Toilet was so low- it was actually uncomfortable - never saw a toilet so low to the ground before. Shower was poor- low water pressure, wasn't like the rest of the rooms. Was given this room - even though I had a month long reservation - they said I checked "standard" room - on Booking.com - so they can give me any room that shows available at the time...which I disagree. But...doesn't stop people from staying there- they have a lot of group tours staying there.

Great helpful, friendly, professional staff. Check in allowed us to store our bags as we had arrived before the check in time. Excellent location as we were visiting the Edinburgh Playhouse which was opposite Problem with air condition in room promptly sorted by member of staff.

Couldn’t find a table for three at breakfast. Finally did. Had to ask for cups at coffee/tea machine as queue of people waiting. Good choice of food catering for everyone. However some of the hot items were only warm, not hot. Think the toaster machine needs to be slightly altered as quite a few people were having to put their slices of bread in many times to get it brown without much success

This hotel location is very conveniently located. Its within walking distance to Edinbugh's Waverley train station, trams services, shopping centre which has plenty of restaurants, Princes street (which is the oxford street of this city) and Edinburgh's Castle(20min). Check in process was straight forward. If you are given rooms on the top floor, please use the appropriate lift. The room itself is clean with comfortable bed. Car parking is at the back of the hotel which is free but very limited (7 spaces). So on arrival by car please drive round to the back of the hotel first. One has to press the button and push the door straight away to enter into the building. Then take a ligft to the first floor to the reception. Breakfast is ok(on 2nd floor) with full english but scrambled eggs is a bit dry to my liking. The buffet restaurant (Cosmo) is opposite the hotel. Tesco express is nearby.

The room can be quite hot and stuffy during hot summer period. If you open the louvre window, then it can be noisy. However, I don't have major issues with the room or the hotel for its price is value for money.

My friend and I stayed at the Holiday Inn for Christmas holidays. We really enjoyed it! The room is cosy, very clean, there is everything you need. The beds are extremely comfortable, absolutely amazing! The windows overlook a quiet street and there are blackout curtains. Breakfast is terrific, there are options to choose from, there is always a spare table even during the busy hours. We would love to thank the staff helping with breakfast, very helpful and professional, super friendly and polite, especially VJ, he stole our hearts and made our stay extra special, with his warm smile and kind well-wishes every morning, he is a legend! Please, give the man a deserved recognition (and a pay-rise:)). The staff at the desk is also very welcoming and helpful. The location is the best, everything is literally within a walking distance, a tram which goes to the airport stops exactly opposite the hotel. Highly recommend, a good value for money!

The lighting in the room was insufficient.

The location is excellent, very central and close to train station. Room and the bathroom were big and clean. The bed, blanket and pillows and bed sheets were very comfortable and very clean. Kettle and iron were provided. The wi-fi was very good. The shower was clean and modern but drained slowly. Hot breakfast was excellent with lots of varieties and breakfast room was very good. Free tea and coffee are available in a relaxing atmosphere at the lobby. Staff very friendly and helpful particularly at the reception. I had a very nice stay and highly recommend the hotel.

Shower drainage should be checked.
