A very good, typical Scottish breakfast is served in a pleasantly retro-decorated space, with very friendly and helpful staff, especially Eliana, Bonita, and Ella. The room and bathroom are spacious and comfortable, with a small exception, which is unbecoming of a hotel of this caliber. The location is excellent, especially for those arriving by tram from the airport.

The tiny bathroom sink wasn't befitting a hotel of this caliber. The receptionist at check-in spoke his native language very quickly, making it difficult for us to understand, despite our warnings to slow down.

Location, location, location. Easily reached on the airport tram, just 100m or so to the hotel door. Waverly Station is a 10 min walk also. Comfortable and quiet rooms that are built down a hillside from the entrance, so well shielded from the noise of Picardy and Leith Walk.

The hotel has a very efficient fire alarm, which went off at 4:00 AM on our last night (cabin crew burning toast) but I guess that is not so common. The fire incident did reveal that there appeared to be only one person on duty overnight, which is probably not sufficient for a hotel with 240 bedrooms. The carpets in the rooms were a little worn, but they were being replaced on a room-by-room basis during our stay, so that is probably already resolved. Limited gym facilities.

We had a fantastic stay . The location was ideal – we were able to walk everywhere, from historic sites and shopping streets to cozy cafes and vibrant neighborhoods. It made exploring the city so easy and enjoyable. Our room was very comfortable, clean. The bed was especially comfy, and everything felt fresh and well-maintained. There were also plenty of great restaurants nearby, with a variety of options just steps from the hotel. Overall, it was a perfect base for our Edinburgh trip – convenient, cozy, and surrounded by great food. We’d definitely stay here again!

The location is excellent. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful - I have so much appreciation for them! The room was very comfortable and great even though I had a courtyard view. Bathroom was spacious too. It took me a minute to understand the lifts going down, not up.

Breakfast was good, but it was very very busy. Staff in the dining room were fine, but not fantastic. Restaurant ran out of the dish I wanted :-( but I was allowed to order a more expensive replacement at the lower price of the original dish I had ordered.

Great location, just a few minutes walk to the Waverly Station and next to Carlton Hill. The rooms were well appointed and very clean. We were able to leave our luggage at the lobby a few hours before the check-in without any problems. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and always ready to answer any questions.

-After leaving our luggage at the lobby we went for a walk and came back a few minutes before the check-in time, only to learn our room wouldn't be ready for another hour, with an option of upgrading to a ready room of a higher standard for an additional fee. We declined, and the waiting time turned out to be fifteen minutes rather than an hour... -The water pressure in the shower wasn't great, but we actually ran into the same problem at all the hotels we were staying at in Scotland.

We were greeted by Jack on reception, he was very friendly and made sure we had a room with a bigger bed . The room was very clean and in a quiet part of the hotel . It was right next to The Playhouse and we were there to see a show . Breakfast was excellent .

We didn’t complain at the time as we didn’t want the member of staff to get into trouble but the day we were due to check out I was in the bathroom and I heard knocking, it was 9.30 and we had a check out at 12 . My husband answered the door and it was room service wanting to clean . They knocked again at 10 and tried to open the door . We hadn’t even been for breakfast. I know they are trying to get their jobs done but it was a Saturday morning well before check out .

Ideal for shopping and theatre. The breakfast was very good with a variety of food options. Staff were friendly.

Beds are too hard for myself as I have arthritis in my hip, the pillows were lumpy and I couldn’t use them. I had no hairdryer in our room, when we went out I informed receptionist and she said I would get one but when we came back in the evening I still didn’t have one. I came down to reception and got one from there, unfortunately it didn’t heat up so was useless. My husband found the cleaner and she exchanged it for one out of another room as I was trying to blow dry my hair at the time. Although it was annoying it would not stop me from staying here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Marriott. The hotel was impeccably clean, which made us feel completely at ease throughout our visit. The location was incredibly convenient allowing us to easily explore the surrounding area. One of the highlights of our stay was the breakfast- it was delicious and had a satisfying variety to suit every taste. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We were disappointed with the bathroom set up. The glass door design lacked privacy, and it wasn’t soundproof, which made using it feeling a bit uncomfortable and awkward. While everything else about our stay was great, we hope the hotel considers improving the bathroom design for a better guest experience.

Its location is unbeatable—just a stone's throw away from the city center, making it incredibly convenient to explore all the local attractions. The breakfast was one of the highlights, offering a wide variety of options in the form of buffet and with additional menu. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Additionally, the daily cleaning service was impeccable, keeping everything fresh and tidy throughout my stay. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in a prime location with excellent service!

Pillows could be more comfortable

Fantastic location, friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed.

Booked and prepaid but the room wasn't allocated until we got there only 2hrs after the permitted 3pm arrival time. Ended up in an accessible room, which meant no window onto anything other than a courtyard and other rooms. If you need an accessibleroom, there's an inch high step into the bathroom. Nightmare if you're in a wheelchair or unsteady on your feet. Really don't like the glass door into the bathroom. In the night, you have to locate the loo in dark because turning the light illuminates the bedroom. Pillows were lumpy. Tried desperately to upsell us breakfast, far too expensive, and a room upgrade, we were only there 1 night and just wanted to get in and ready for our evening out.
