Location was fantastic for us. It's not in the main city area but we preferred this as it was nice and quiet yet still just a short walk to most places. It's also very close to Calton hill and a short walk to Arthur's seat (well, the start of the trail at least). Plenty of restaurants and busses within walking distance. Room was gorgeous and spacious, with a great view. Breakfast was very convenient and tasty with lots of options, overall great value for money.

The shower and bath were frustrating to use. The gauges were unusual as there was a tap for on/off and another for temperature. At first only very, very hot water was coming out no matter what we tried. We had to call someone to come look at it, even then it didn't really fix it. Upon trial and error over our stay we determined that after you change the temperature tap you have to let the water run for a long time before it cools down (5 minutes). Even then it was temperamental and would start off very hot again and would spike again for no reason throughout your shower (did not touch the gauge).

I felt safe there. The people were so kind. Many people that worked there became my friends. I look forward to staying in touch them. While in Scotland it became my home base. It was close to the centre but off from the main tourist areas. You could have a quiet night in or go out close by. It was closed to St. James Square mall and off Princes Street which is the main part of the new city with plenty of boutiques, restaurants and bars. It is also close to the Royal Mile. Calden Hill is down the street and the top has the great views of the city. It’s also close to the train station.

The menu could be expanded a little.

Cleanliness, size, interior, breakfast.

I ordered two separate beds. The hotel itself chose one double room for us. As a result, we were given a room in the basement, where there was constant noise. It was hard to sleep.

The large rooms are gorgeous, the views beautiful, and the staff are phenomenal. I travel a ton for work and book hotels for large groups of people. This hotel stay was a test, and it was everything we look for. Great food, bar, rooms, and staff.

The only thing people should know is that the rooms vary greatly in size and style. Pay attention to what you book, since some are twice the size and we heard a few people disappointed by what they thought they were getting vs what they got. For instance, we paid less for our room that was close to 400 sq ft, while another in our party paid more for what was essentially a nice 200 sq ft hotel room. That said, we’ll be staying here again.

So clean and comfortable, great facilities. We came last year and the change in the rooms was brilliant- coffee machine and you can cast your phone to the tv too which made our nights more cozy as we could watch what we wanted.

The only down side we had was coming back at 5 and the room hadn’t been redone (new towels etc) but was quickly resolved once letting reception know and the fire alarm going off at 6.45 in the morning and no explanation when we checked out. Other than that a fantastic stay and 100% the hotel we will choose if and when we visit Edinburgh again.

From start to finish, my stay at VOCO was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome. They were incredibly friendly, always smiling, and genuinely eager to help with anything we needed. It was clear that they take pride in their work and in making guests feel at home. The accommodations were nothing short of exceptional. We were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded to a stunning suite. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had all the luxurious touches we could have asked for. The attention to detail in the room, from the plush bedding to the high-end amenities, truly exceeded our expectations. My partner and I were both so impressed by the comfort and style of the space. I couldn’t recommend VOCO more highly. The combination of excellent service, amazing facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere made it a truly memorable experience. We’re already looking forward to our next visit, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, this is the place to stay!

Staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was clean and spacious and the hotel itself was in an excellent location - just a short walk (10 mins or so) to the city centre and yet the street itself was quiet and peaceful with amazing views

The only downside were that we were in a basement room below the reception/bar area and the noise from people dragging furniture across the hard floor above us in the middle of the night woke us up. We did mention this to the reception staff who were very apologetic.

The hotel was perfectly located close to the hustle and bustle of Princes Street but not right on it, and there was therefore a residential feel as the hotel's street was fairly quiet. Front desk staff were warm, friendly and very helpful with great tips and suggestions for our stay. Housekeeping staff were swift to respond to our request for an extra blanket. We loved the room, gorgeous view of back terrace and garden, large comfortable bed, nice bathroom fixtures and easy to use coffee/tea service in the room. The breakfast was a lovely authentic Scottish buffet and delicious. The interior of the hotel common areas was tastefully decorated and the atmosphere to dine, have a drink or just sit was quite pleasant.

We found that some of the restaurant staff did not seem adequately trained: (i) we ordered a black tea and the waiter gave us an Americano coffee and didn't seem to know what black tea was when we tried to correct him. (ii) the breakfast staff cleared our table and seated other guests there, when we had simply gone to get more food from the buffet. Our knives and forks were crossed to show we were not finished and I had even left a personal item of mine which the staff also cleared! Fortunately when I asked for it it was returned to me.

Firstly, the staff at this hotel are increadible and made our stay. We had some trouble with the heating in our room, and the staff went above and beyond to try to fix it for us. The breakfast was great with a well assorted buffet, in addition, one could order an item from the a la carte menu. The hotel is also a bit off the main road, but still very central and close to both bus and tram stations

Generally a perfect stay, however the gym is very small and the multi gym equippment was, unfortunately, out of order during our stay...
