Well located and easy to find. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms and common areas were clean. The common area had games for the kids and adults to play while waiting for your next Edinburgh attraction, or having a drink. Plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby. There is also a tram stop just 2 minutes from the front door.

The WiFi was spotty.

Location, Reception Area and Cafe, Nothing was too much bother for the staff. One of the best Youth Hostels I've ever stayed in. The place was warm and very comfortable. Buses and Trams close by so easy access into the City. Downstairs Cafe area was nice place to chill, grab a drink and even some food. Excellent coffee by the way.

Shower was a little unpredictable and had a blockage, so took ages to drain away. Bed was not made properly when we arrived. However Sheets were all clean. Could have done with a kettle or TV in the room, although there was a self catering area and TV room available. No cupboards only a side unit in the room so nowhere to hang clothes.

We arrived early and it was super that the room was ready and clothes washing facilities were available at the property. I was also pleased that our family room was a double and a single, rather than bunk beds. For 2 nights, the room was functional with a separate toilet, hot water and a big window. Plenty of room for bags. Location was perfect for restaurants and 10min to Waverley train station. Our room was quiet.

The shower pressure hurt, which I suppose could be good if the shower nozzle had a bigger spray. For what it is, it's expensive, but that is more a reflection of Edinburgh's accommodation costs, not specifically this hostel.

Staff were friendly and location is perfect for the Edinburgh Playhouse. The private rooms are really spacious and will be staying again if we are looking to see a show at the playhouse again. In addition to this, I saw reviews of there being no TV in the private rooms. But we did have one which was a small but nice bonus. Didn't have the breakfast but there are plenty of cafes in the area to explore. Bar is open and provide a very good selection of drinks.

There was not much we didn't like. Just bare in mind it is a hostel so you do not get shower gel and shampoo included. The room is basic but expected that before arriving and again was perfect for what we needed.

Close to shops and bars in the New Town. Stayed in a private room with shower. Room was basic with no TV or kettle but no issue at all with being out all day. Nipped to Tesco and bought some breakfast items, was able to use the communal kitchen which was sufficient using the pans, toaster, microwave and hot water cylinder. Towels are from reception when you arrive and there was a mixture of white and blue towels. It was perfect for us, left all the bags in the room and went for the car, parked around the back streets for £2.20 for half an hour to save carrying cases across the city. Let us into our room at 15.30 too when we arrived. Didn’t use the restaurant but looked and smelt good. We used it for the marathon and the Playhouse theatre. Got supermarkets, restaurants and bars all around you. Would stop there again without hesitation.

The location was great, a short 15min walk from the centre. The staff was lovely. I got in rather late, almost-morning late but there was no problem whatsoever. Additionally, i asked for a lower bunk bed so i wouldn't make too much noise for the others in the room who were already asleep, they couldn't guarantee it but I got it in the end! Despite how short my stay was, it was delightful, and high quality for really cheap price. I will definitely come back!

There were rather few washrooms. Didn't apply to me so it's more of a notice but if everyone wants to wash at the same time there might be queues

Great location, just next to tram station (mcd road st), cross the road and walk for 1 min u will reach hostel. Booked a 3 beded room, Quite spacious, shower and toilet is separated. the room heater was working quite good but the switch was quite high up, not friendly for short people. Bus stop nearby, easily accessible to the tourist spot. better than other hostel like shubhill, etc. Kitchen is a centralise kitchen with 4 big stoves, 4 oven, 2 fridges, and 1 microwave. Can cook anytime yrself. Washing machine and dryer available but need to pay using token. 2 pound per load per wash/dry.

Room was quite dirty, my hand was bitten by bedbugs all over. shower water pressure was too strong and it hurts when bathing.

The entrance to the hostel was very inviting. There was always someone/more than one person behind reception to welcome you and the atmosphere was full of chatter with other guests staying there and enjoying the common room or caffe area. One day I forgot my cell phone on the couch and someone gave it in at reception, I was so happy to receive it back. We stayed at the top floor, so the view from the room was spectacular with each sunset and sunrise over the skyline as well as a view of the street ever so busy with travellers.

The room we stayed in was fully covered in carpets (even as you get out of the shower) which grossed me out a little bit even though everything seemed to be very clean. Its honestly a personal preference.

We spent 3 wonderful days in Edinburgh. This was an absolute gem, fantastic location, and extremely helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and everything was done promptly with a smile. The room was a good size for 3 adults, and the double bed was very comfortable. There was road noise, but very acceptable, as we were in the city. The hostel was exceptionally quiet, we did not hear a sound during our stay. It was an incredible price, and money was also donated to a respite charity. We would most certainly return to this accommodation, I have already recommended to a friend. No frills, great price, fabulous location, if you like clean and simple accommodation in a great location, you can not go wrong here.

Tiny niggles: Soap dispenser not in toilet, but in main room. Take your own soap for hand washing. Grown up daughter said upper bunk mattress was uncomfortable. The window could not be closed properly due to the safety shield blocking the handle. None of these would prevent our return.

Amazing location! Perfect for a couple.. we arrived late on in the afternoon on our first night so just had a lazy one, but due to the location we were able to grab some food near the playhouse then on the second day we got up early and after reading about the nice easy breakfast ideas we decided to have a roll with couple of different hot fillings... Ideal! Set us up for the morning right up till lunch time and super cheap, with coffee and tea included. After a long day trekking on our second day we were able to sit down in the lobby with a fresh coffee (with Lactose free options) and a crisp local pint and played some games we brought from home. It was a short stay for us as we were travelling down south but definitely will look at booking here again and other locations with Hosteling Scotland (we were able to get a private room with private bathroom and shower)

Not so much to unlike to be honest, I would just mention they had a lot of young school groups staying but I think that's mainly because of the proximity to the theatre.. but that didn't take away from anything. Was great to see them filling up on bottles of coca cola before being sent home to mum and dad 😁😳😳
