The room was good and clean. The toiletries are provided at the reception. The location is OK, about 15-20 minutes from the city centre. There is a nice garden in front of the building with a lot of benches for residents.

The bed was a little bit hard, and the halls are sometimes noisy in the sense that you hear a door slamming when someone comes back to their room. Sound isolation does not exist. You hear what people in the neighbouring room are doing. I had this problem only for one night. Otherwise, the neighbours were quiet. The accommodation is OK, but in my opinion, a little bit too expensive.

Clean, well organized, good location close to the city center. Very helpful staff.

I appreciated the possibility to do laundry since I'm traveling for a bit longer, but it was hard (impossible) to use it in practice with my foreign debit card (the Visa confirmation page showed up and then disappeared, so I could never complete payment) so in the end someone else paid for me and I paid them back in cash. The bed was on the narrow side for two people but it worked out better than expected. 🙂 It would have been nice with two key cards to the room so we could split up more, but we got it to work with a single one too. Cell phone reception for internet/data was a bit iffy in our room (and seemingly in other parts of the building complex too), but if you use the provided wifi, that shouldn't be an issue.

we loved the area, the long leith walk close by offers a lot of places to eat out or have a drink or a coffee. and given how expensive edinburgh is (even more in summer as we learnt) a student house/campus such as the murano offers good value for money. one simply has to be aware that it is not a 4-star hotel and that the rooms are the ones where students are usually accommodated (so if you are a couple planning to share the bed bear in mind it is NOT a king size). the location is also close to the tram stops so if you are flying in or out it will be rather easy to reach the airport

when checking in guests are given a towel (one each) but no soap; it would make sense to include a small bar of soap when handing over the towel (which could in turn be somehow wrapped/protected...)

Very good location in central Edinburgh. I stayed twice in July 2025. My rooms were clean and quiet. I was really impressed with the friendly and helpful staff and the 24-hour front desk service. For my first stay, I arrived five hours late, at around 11:00 p.m. I was amazed how alert and helpful the staff were. They went out of their way to help me with tourist questions, laundry facility operation (for a private laundry cleaning center onsite owned by a separate company) and luggage storage between stays. The luggage storage is secure and of very good value. The location is very close by walking distance or short tram rides to key sites in Edinburgh and to several restaurants and cafes.

We love the price (very reasonable) and location (only a 5 min walk to the bus stop and 7 min to the tram that will run you all the way from the airport to the waterfront. The bathroom was very clean and decent-sized compared to many European bathrooms we've stayed in before. There were plenty of places to eat close by. You could walk to a dozen restaurants, bars, and coffee shops with 10-15 min. The staff were so friendly! They couldn't have been more helpful. We will stay here again if we are back in town.

The windows do not open more than a few inches. There is a security cable that keeps you from opening the windows any further than this. Even though the nights were in the 13-14 degrees Celsius (55-57 Fahrenheit), the room didn't cool off very much because of the windows being nearly closed. I asked about the cables and they said it was a safety feature to keep people from jumping out of the window. I mentioned that it was a safety issue to keep the window closed in case of fire but didn't make a big deal out of it. Two different views. They did have fans, so we grabbed one on the 2nd night and we slept much better! Make sure you ask for one early in the day (at check-in) because they go fast!

The location is great, the tram is a few minutes by foot and we had a studio with a kitchen and a suit (on 5th floor) was clean and everything was fine and we had nothing to complain about. The staff was so kind and friendly and helped us to book an extension due to our flights being changed. We will definitely come back again and will choose it instead of a hotel. Thanks for a great stay during a busy Edinburgh:) The Indian restaurant golden ambal is just around the corner and delicious.

These are really well maintained student ensuite rooms, grouped into apartments with kitchen facilities, reception lounge area, great local shops, cafes and very good transport links. Double bed very comfy, desk area, wardrobe (no hangers), I was on first floor, appt 10, with lift, clean well planned adjacent kitchen with loads of fridge space. Everyone using kitchen kept their food in small piles in fridge and cupboards which seemed to work. Local Chinese takeaway really close to entrance and Sainsbury’s across the main road. Brilliant bus connections (25 to Heriot Watt, 14 and 49 to South Bridge for Royal Mile, and many more) plus tram connections to airport and Leith. Note about bathroom/shower ensuite, you pick up a towel and shower toiletries when checking in. Also reception supply coffee and tea, milk, sugar salt and pepper which you help yourself to. I arrived early around 10 and could either check in early, £15, or store bag for £5. Opted for bag store as had theatre matinee tkts but good to know options. Highly recommended for good clean accommodation in Edinburgh with great transport links. Reception has second hand books and board games for use of guests

Walls a little thin so I could hear coughs, sneezes, phone calls, people coming and going but all bearable. I did request a quiet room, but reception offer earplugs

4th visit to stay there. The room was spotless - very clean and comfortable. It's situated close to buses and the tram from the airport. It is in the heart of the best eating area in Edinburgh with small cafes and larger restaurants nearby. I found it ideal as a sole traveller as there is a 24 hr reception so it felt very safe. I requested and was given a ground floor room in the main block. It was quiet with no overnight noise. Overall I would stay there again.

The shower tray was slippy after a shower and the shower quite hard to turn off. But developed a technique.

It was cheap and cheerful, the staff were all wonderful and helpful. The entrance communal area is lovely with pool tables, board games, books, TV , music, sofas, blankets, vending machines etc. Very welcoming. £5 per bag to keep your bags safe if you need to wait for check in or have to check out early, which we used. The bedrooms themselves were spacious and clean and everything felt safe and secure. Bathrooms were lovely and clean too which was brilliant. Shower gel, shampoo and a single towel are provided.

The beds are rock solid, the kitchen area was still dirty with crumbs all over the floor after being 'cleaned'. No hangers provided in the wardrobe, no bathmat made the floor slippy after a shower, no extra pillows available on the bed, no fans in the room and no reminder of the WiFi password anywhere but the entrance to the building. Rooms were boiling hot (not their fault) and they charged an extortionate amount to hire a fan for a few hours of use. Location isn't as central as is advertised but still handy.
