The Exhibition is an historic inn very well placed for easy pedestrian access to the ancient city sites of York. The room was clean and comfortable though it's finish was tired and bits and pieces need sorting (lamp over desk, shower room latch, toilet seat etc). Room staff were lovely and all staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with a very good range of main course options. The availability of fresh fruit salad and a broader range of cereals would have been welcomed . The deep topper on the bed meant that movement by one risked disturbing the other's sleep. The high ceilings made for an airy room when weather conditions were exceptionally warm. A big opening window gave good circulation meaning we didn't need to use the electric fan/cooler provided. Overall, The Exhibition was a good choice for our 'base' to attend the Early Music Festival which was truly exceptional. Thank you all ...

Great central location, room was spacious and spotlessly clean. More tea, coffee etc in room than you could ever need. Bed was very comfortable, room quite warm but it is summer and a tower fan was in room and very much appreciated. Shower pressure was a little pathetic but to be expected in an older property. Breakfast was all delicious and cooked freshly to order, breakfast is only served from 9-10am which might not suit everyone. We just had coffee in room and went for walk before hand as early risers. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. The beautiful beer garden is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine & if you fancy a snack have the chilli nachos you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely hotel above a bustling pub. Though sound proofing is quite good you will hear some sounds but they close at midnight so it's not all night. Pub serves food on some nights. They have an excellent Beergarden and are situated 3 minutes from York Minster. Room had all the necessities and was clean. Nice soft bed. Breakfast is excellent, not a buffet but you pick from the menu and it will be freshly made by Rose, who is an excellent cook & manager. We had to leave early on our last day so would miss breakfast and she packed us some food to eat on our way home. They have 6 parking spots for guests at the back of the property where you can park your car for free. We will definitely come again.

As said, though good soundproofing it is still above a pub so it ain't silent till midnight. Also the room was very warm though we turned the heating off.

Brilliant service. Was able to leave bag safely while waiting for room and it genuinely felt like if we'd wanted anything they'd go above and beyond to help. Luckily we didn't require this as what was provided was top notch. Comfy bed, everything we needed in the room and for a one night stay. Great location, close enough to the station for a 10-15 minute walk - and a great, old fashioned style bar with decent choice of drinks and decor. Didn't have tea but Breakfast was included (unexpected!) but fantastic with a good range, well cooked etc. Would absolutely come here again.

Shower could have been more powerful. Entrance round back to hotel could be more obvious/advertised in the listing/confirmation, but guessing if coming via car it would direct anyway to the car park.

Upon arrival, soon as we entered through the beer garden we were greeted by penny who immediately showed us to our parking space so we could then grab our bags and get checked in. The young man who checked us in was very pleasant, gave us a brief tour of where to find the breakfast area..what way to come through if the front entrance is closed. He happily grabbed my bag and took it to show us to our room. Room was lovely and Cozy perfect to what we wanted for a few nights stay and very clean throughout the whole hotel. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of what we could have. Every member of staff we came across seem to take pride in their hotel and looks as thought they are a great team This really shows through the hotel. We will definitely be returning as they did not disappoint. Thank you for our wonderful stay.

Absolutely perfect location for York, on site parking is a real bonus. Within a couple of minutes walk from the Minster and city centre, clean and tidy, very welcoming staff who were on hand to help with any needs. Good selection for breakfast. Our room was compact but definitely did the job for a one night away, bed had a topper and it was a little soft for our preference, however still slept well. The only negative is the room had one very high window, practically ceiling level, it had a vertical blind on, but with the mornings being lighter and a lovely sunny day, it did mean we were awake about half six. A better covering would make a big difference. All in all, our second stay here was very pleasant and would definitely recommend and if I were to visit York again, be the first option for accommodation.

The Exhibition Hotel was brilliant. The staff were so warm and welcoming, Charlie was great when we arrived showing us where to park and showing us where everything was located in the hotel. There were nice touches in the room such as toiletries, bottled water and plenty of tea/coffee/milk and biscuits which were replenished when our room was serviced (we stayed for 2 nights). The room was cozy, decorated beautifully, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was superb, one of the best we've ever had anywhere, the breakfast staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We had a huge jug of fresh orange, the big breakfast was excellent and we could have more toast if we wanted (we didn't as we were too full!) The pub itself is ace, really quirky with lots of nic nacs, a decorated beautifully for Christmas. There is also a massive beer garden which I imagine is fabulous when the weather is good. Our stay also included parking which was an added bonus as my mum can't walk great distances so this was a big plus point. The location is amazing too as it's a 5 minute walk to the Minster and then you're in the middle of everything. We had a great time and will definitely recommend to anyone wanting a fabulous time in York!!

There isn't anything not to like about this hotel !

The location was fantastic and everyone we spoke to was very friendly and very helpful. The room was beautiful and had just enough space. We had early morning plans each day so being around 9-10 for breakfast didn’t work out, but it was plenty offered. The included on-site parking was a game changer and a big reason we booked. We already spoke about staying there again if we come back to York

Not a huge deal, but the bathrooms could have a bit of updating. The light didn’t always come on, the sink was very very slow draining, and a bit of mildew in the shower. The room was so clean and beautiful the bathroom took me by surprise

Really lovely public house (pub) which we found out is known by locals as well and some of them visit here regularly. Staff is amazing, breakfast is truly worth it with a great selection and big, filling portions, the room was small but cozy and the location was incredible! Very recommendable place.

There was a less-than-great smell of sewage in our room. To our understanding, our room is the only one with that issue and they are working on it, trying to figure out what it is and how to fix it, but that still doesn’t make it a great experience. It was quite uncomfortable to stay in but the way the staff dealt with it and their openness to our complaint about it makes it so that I don’t want to rate based on this. Pretty much the rest was really quite nice and even if the bed was a teensy small for our liking and definitely of a bit of an older date, that is not an uncommon thing at hotels and it is an old hotel so we wouldn’t have expected much more than what we got.

Great place to stay. Close to everything. Definitely good value for money. The staff were so friendly and helpful showing us where to park. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Loved coming back on our first night to see they had an open mic night. Really enjoyed listening to the great performers with a few drinks. Would definitely stay here again.

On the first day, breakfast was slow coming out, and we waited about 40 minutes for our hot food. Would have liked a mini fridge in the room as bottles of water were provided but would have been nice cold.
