On arrival we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who allowed us to check in to our room early which was great. The reception area was very clean and spacious. when we got to our room it was a large room with a lovely view, very clean and plenty of amenities also. We had also been given a late checkout with no extra cost which was great as our flight home wasn’t until later in the day. The staff at reception also allowed us to store our bags with no extra cost, who were also extremely friendly might I add. The hotel is very central to everything and just a 10 minute walk to the centre .I wasn’t sure about booking this hotel as there were alot of mixed reviews however our stay was exceptional and I would definitely recommend staying here.

everything was perfect

The hotel was a really solid option close to the city centre and reasonably priced. I was going to write a bad review due to there being no hot water at the property when we wanted to shower. However this issue has been kindly resolved by Booking.com and the hotel itself so I am sure this lack of hot water was a one off issue Breakfast was very enjoyable, comfortable beds and well located.

Hot water issue did put a stain on our stay but as said above this is likely to be a one off situation. They had an issue with their generators. Free parking would have been a bonus. We ended up paying £23 for parking which was with the hotels discount.

I liked the fact that the hotel was able to accommodate me and my family, even though I had mistakenly booked the wrong hotel! I had booked the one in Newcastle (the one quoted on this title) rather than the one in Gateshead - even though we’ve stayed in Gateshead before! The staff in the Newcastle hotel were able to switch things around. Thank you!

Obviously, due to my mistake, which then became a last minute booking, the room (in Gateshead) was not ideal as it was situated right next to the main road. This meant it was a bit more noisy than what we had experienced before, but the reason for that was completely my fault so we accepted it.

Vary attentive and couldn’t do enough for us and friendly staff indeed and when we had issue with tv it was sorted straight away as soon as asked and the fact they catered for the Great North Run and went out way and opened breakfast earlier was brilliant

Argument in reception with other guests and manager wasn’t great and police being called in think this could have been taken somewhere more private away from other guests around and hearing. Breakfast wasn’t for us as we don’t like full English not great selection other then that but great if you like full English

Although the rooms seem to be getting painted the carpet in our room was all ripped and didn't even meet the skirting board ,we had two beds one double and one single ,I dread to think what was down the side of the single bed but it looked like body fluids ,the rooms are in desperate need of a good make over not just I lack of paint .for what they charge its not worth the money but for location it's great .

The hotel was very clean and I enjoyed my stay. The car park they recommended us to use was great and the hotel gave us it at a discounted price.

We set an alarm to wake up for 10am since check out was 11am but at around 9.45am a housekeeper burst in our room saying “housekeeping”. Me and my friend were still in bed and it felt like a massive invasion of privacy, i dont know why housekeeping thought it was okay to do that - they were clearly checking if people were in the room but its most definitely not a good way to do it and a better system should be put in place to ensure the privacy and dignity of residents.

Great location for the Arena Staff were fabulous, all very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean Food was pricey but in my opinion worth what we paid.

Nothing in particular other than we couldn’t get any hot water on the morning of checkout, this was mentioned to the receptionist at the time and it was explained that there was a fault beyond their control. It didn’t spoil our stay and We were compensated which was unexpected. Oh and breakfast was hectic, I’d advise to go early especially if hotel has lots of guests. Was difficult to find a table and long queue for hot drink due to only having one working machine at that time, food was great though.

I always stay in Leonardo Hotels when I travel with my partner as the beds are so huge and comfortable - definitely a plus after a busy day of walking around and shopping! The staff are consistently lovely, and the entrance is gorgeous. We didn’t try any of the food or breakfast as we opted to go outside of the hotel to try some local cafes and restaurants, but it looked amazing! The rooms have nice big windows, meaning we could look out onto the streets around us, we also had a nice view of the Utilita Arena and the surrounding car parks and buildings, and all the bridges! It did get a bit warm when the radiator was on, but keeping the window open to let all the lovely cool February air in definitely helped!

The only issue I had was with the bathroom - they were a bit old fashioned, the water pressure was pretty rubbish, and once the bathroom steamed up, so did the whole room! Even with the door shut! I have stayed in the Leonardo Hotel in Glasgow a few times and the bathrooms there are amazing, and so I would’ve loved to have seen those bathrooms in this hotel. Also, my partner gets quite warm on a night and so we had to leave the window open, meaning it got quite noisy as we were next to a pretty busy road.

On arrival we were told the boiler had not been working but an engineer had been out. There were no issues with the hot water. The room was clean but the bed sheets were stained, after informing the receptionist, this was taken care of swiftly. One of the pillows was uncomfortable and lumpy. Not the hotels fault but another visitor took a call on loud speaker outside our room at 4:45am. When we arrived for breakfast there was no-one there to greet visitors, so we sat ourselves at a table after queuing for a few minutes. We didn't pay much for our room, so you get what you pay for I guess.

Very comfortable bed and it was very quiet. The location was ideal for our arrival, by coach, and then for a general walkabout before picking up our hire car from the local railway station.

We ordered room service of burger and chips and were disappointed with how long it took to deliver, which meant I had to phone Reception for an update. When it was delivered the guy was very friendly and apologised, but unfortunately the chips were not very good and not too hot and the burger was only slightly better. We certainly wished we hadn't ordered room service!!
