Absolutely amazing. The Inn is gorgeous and cozy, the rooms designed beautifully and all the small extras made me feel so comfortable and happy. Sweets under glass and a welcome note in my room, soft music on the radio by the bed, and a lovely bathroom and shower. The bar and restaurant served up delicious drinks, as well as a full English breakfast included in the room cost that was delicious. Staff were very gracious and kind, and the location is in the center of town. Easy to get to from the train station by bus or walking. I wish I had more time to stay and enjoy the vineyards and art as well. Will certainly be back for a longer stay. An absolute gem.

Very nice room with a comfy bed and given the warm weather they had added an air conditioning unit to make the room more comfortable. Small fridge to allow cold water in the room and some sweet treats for arrival. The pub area was great for chilling in the evenings and the food was lovely

Very limited parking on site, but there was free overnight parking in a carpark across the road 6pm-8am. The breakfast was lovely but only included limited hot drinks and you could only select a continental or cooked option. Having said this the staff were doing their best to be flexible with it

I was impressed by the staff and the rooms. Also the restaurant and bar was very good. The staff were young but trained well and excellent service.

It wasn't the fault of the hotel but we visited on an extremely hot day and unfortunately the rooms were unbearably hot. The manager showed me another room but it was just as hot. There were fans in the room and the doors had been left open to let the room cool but unfortunately that didn't work. It's a refurbished old hotel so I doubt any more can be done to solve the problem. It's rare that the weather is so extreme. The staff tried their hardest to offer a solution.

Second stay in a Heartwood property (Ropemaker, Emsworth previously) and we've started planning another stay (possibly Lewes or Marlow). Excellent standard of accommodation, beds and bedding, bathroom. Everything has been thought of, including small touches (sweet treats, coffee facilities, radio playing on arrival etc) Parking appeared full, but staff directed us to park in a spot that wasn't obvious.

Arrived at the property at about 2.15, asked if an early check in would be possible but were told no, check in is at 3pm (not a problem, just always worth asking in case a room is available - it was at The Ropemaker). Had some lunch in the restaurant but at 3pm there were no staff available to help us (or the couple in front of us). Ordered a Bloody Mary - saw later on a poster this should have been half price as part of a promotion, but we were charged in full. Burning (literally) hot towel radiator in the bathroom!

Newly refurbished rooms, comfortable bed and big shower. Radio in the bedroom as well as a TV. Fresh milk provided for hot drinks and some beautiful little sweet treats on arrival. The staff were helpful when approached and remembered to smile.

Parking quite limited and access to the courtyard sometimes blocked so dropping off with luggage can be a challenge at times. Perhaps it was staffing over Christmas but the ‘hot’ breakfast was served on a cold plate one morning and seemed to have been sitting around for a while before serving so was cold. The streaky bacon was not crispy and seemed more fat than meat on one morning but on other mornings these things were ok.

If you want to be treated like royalty and get the best value for your money, come to the White Horse. It was my husband's birthday, but I never hoped that staying in a hotel could make this day so special. Needless to say that the hotel itself is magnificent, the room was fantastic, very beautiful and comfortable etc. But it's the staff's work and the management's choices that make this place stand out. At the pub's restaurant we were served delightful and adventurous (and very moderately priced) 100% vegan food (vegan English pie!!!) coupled with two free glasses of Prosecco for the occasion (they kindly replaced them with drinks of our choice since we don't drink), which made our evening. The room was full of charm, had a lot of treats for the evening tea and a hand-written card, and in general the hotel kept pleasantly surprising us at every corner. The full English breakfast was also adapted for our vegan needs. I'm looking forward to coming back and giving my parents-in-law a gift stay as well, because after our visit I can be sure to recommend this place to the most special people and be sure they will have the time of their lives here. Thank you for making my husband and me so happy on his special day!

Absolutely nothing to report.

It was such a cosy hotel, with a beautiful interior. The staff were all lovely, especially the lady who checked us in- I forgot to get her name. Good location too! Everyone we spoke to from Dorking, said it was a lovely hotel.

No air conditioning, we really struggled to sleep because of how hot our room was. I think particularly where our room was located, it was so hot. The staff did put a fan in there and kept the door wedged open ahead of our arrival. We did stay during the hottest day! But it was unbearably hot in the room.

Really nice place. Small touches that made the place unique and really cozy.

Unfortunately we were woken up both mornings, we stayed two nights, 7am for the alarm. First morning fore alarm went off in the property and second morning somewhere behind the property. The second one obviously was not related to the White Horse but taking a break for two days to relax and recharge this was really inconvenient. No apology or even mention about the fire alarm when we finally got out of the bed and went to buy coffee from the restaurant as we missed the breakfast due to being woken up 7am and then trying to catch up with sleep…

Bathroom always the priority for us-Perfect! Bedroom roomy, bed comfortable and decor nothing to distract. Creaky Floorboards reminiscent of other old pub stays provided some quirky charm! There were some lovely complimentary sweets left for us. We hadn’t arranged an evening meal, but not a problem. Food choices were varied and what we had was very tasty. Also service attentive and food arrived with little delay. The sausage if you like them was delicious. Breakfast was a little tight if we had been staying longer than one night but again choice was varied and Pancakes delicious. Our compliments to the staff for making us feel welcome and well fed and rested

Rather a meandering journey and lots of stairs. Due to the age of the property floors a little off kilter. If any mobility issues perhaps ask for a room fewest stairs. Parking missed twice but it was dark when we arrived. Bit tight in places if you have a larger car.

Some slight changes this time. The breakfast has changed and the continental options aren't laid out in the restaurant for you to choose from. You now have to select one from the menu along with one option of juice. There's no free access to water etc. No toast offered... Service charges are automatically applied when ordering food from the bar, and you need to be aware of this. The 2 for 1 drinks between 5pm and 7pm were available for 1 night but not the next 2 nights. You get the nice sweet treats in your room on the first night but nothing after that, no biscuits etc.
