Rooms were quiet, very clean with large comfortable beds, storage space, good blackout blinds, a T.V and coffee/tea making facilities. Choice of breakfast is probably one of the best we have ever experienced anywhere and it is served to your table by friendly staff. The bar area was good to sit and chat over a drink in the afternoon or night. The hotel is next to Castlecomer Discovery Centre which is excellent for walking as well as having keenly priced activities - loved the zipline! The sauna next door to the hotel (may be co-owned) is also excellent and good value for money. Castlecomer village is a lovely little place.

Location excellent visiting family Room was quite even there was music in bar didn't hear it in bedroom. Breakfast was good selection. Hot food menu and served to the table Receptionist was, only off thing We had long journey and her greeting was checkin is not to 4pm but your room is ready If the room was ready she didn't need to say check in is not to 4pm My husband said she said it to another couple too and they were not happy Most hotels is 3pm so people don't look at check in time. I

Reception

We travelled from Galway to the Avalon House Hotel, which is a fair drive. Upon arrival we were welcomed by friendly staff even the staff passing through reception said hello. Our room was ready and we both agreed the following morning the bed was the best ever we slept in. We had lunch in the bar, served by friendly local boys and girls who may be on summer holidays and working at the hotel. The food was very good and the location of the hotel is excellent, a small walk to the Discovery Park. We would definitely go back there.

Everything was pristine. Beautiful carpark and grounds. Hearty, friendly welcome on arrival. Totally clean reception area, lift is clean and bright. Corridors perfect. The bedroom is totally perfect, the facilities are 100%. Excellent Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities.Bathroom, spacious and clean. Television channels worked without any problems. WiFi is excellent throughout the hotel. The bed is comfortable. None of the above happens without the staff. The reception and restaurant staff are friendly and efficient. A major asset to the hotel. The housekeeping staff are on top of their work. Terrific value for money hotel. We will be back. Thank you.

Excellent location, easy access to the main road. The decor outside was lovely and welcoming in the patio, especially at night. The restaurant/bar had a great selection of delicious food if you didn’t get a chance to eat out. The staff showed great respect for all their guests. The overall character of the building inside and out was lovely as well. The room was well decorated and the design cozy. There was water and an electric tea kettle available in the room. Fantastic!

Cobwebs throughout, even in the shower. It wasn’t a bother with my stay, but when I remembered how much they charged for one night, I realized I overpaid for a charming place that (in tidiness/dusting/daddy-longlegs) wasn’t quite worth that price. It felt like no one had stayed there for some time before me. Again, nothing at all to interfere with the overall comfort of stay. Just not appropriate for the price they charged.

On entering the Avalon the reception were very warm and welcoming hotel looked inviting and clean. Check in was straight forward and easy, when arriving into room it was very clean of a very high standard, had a very nice view over the local wood which was nice. Found the room warm and very quiet with excellent facilities which was pleasure to stay in. I decided to eat in the hotel and found the staff very friendly and always on hand to handle my needs, i found the menu and very varied and interesting menu. The food was delicious and brought out really quickly, overall i would definitely recommend the Avalon Hotel i found it to be one of the best hotels i have visited here in Ireland

The food was delicious, both at dinner in the bar and at Lil’s for breakfast. The staff there were friendly and helpful from reception onwards. The wait staff were so focused and prompt. Clearly a diligent bunch of people. Customer experience is a high priority. The hotel itself is comfortable and very interestingly decorated. It’s so tastefully eclectic. The eye is never bored, and in a fun way. Highly recommend.

Very nice hotel. Whatever food came out of the kitchen, it was a bomb! Well done to chef.

Morning breakfast... ordered from kitchen-again, excellent in taste.. but short for supply. There was no bread, pastries... nothing on the self-service, Swedish table... empty glasses and juice and empty spaces where pastries, selection of ham, cheese ect was... staff were young and unable to explain reassure.. a bit lost, so many unhappy customers that morning and a chaos... things happen, but simple sorry or idea of settling the situation would be appreciated if not from the waitress than manager... It's such a pity because the place looked stunning in design and was comfy. Last night dinner was amazing, cool location.

I missed having a shower hat in my room and biscuits with the tea/coffee which are usually provided. The staff at dinner seemed a little unsure and slower service. Food was okay, more choice would have been nice. The food was hot but the omelettes we ordered were dry and tasteless. Overall we had a nice time here and the staff were lovely but some improvements could be made.

The accommodation was very good, room and other areas of the hotel. Done in a (dare I say) typically Irish style. In keeping with the area though. I don't think a modern design hotel would have worked here. Food was very good, bar area served up to 9:00PM, a good range, and offered food throughout the day. Breakfast too was very good, from simple porridge to a traditional Irish breakfast which was not over the top like some can be. Very accommodating when we asked for a couple of changes. Staff were excellent, pleasant, and always happy to help. Very short walking distance to the main attraction, the Discovery Park, although we didn't go due to other commitments it is worth a walk around. The rest of the town has little to offer. Kilkenny is the nearest tourist town and worth a visit on a nice day. The grounds are nice, some good planting and I noticed some bulbs starting to appear, it should look nice in the Spring and Summer.

It is hard to fault anything, there was just one small thing I'd have liked. The room was very dark (which was fine), but if you wanted to get up in the night, say, to use the bathroom, any light you turned on was very bright! It would be nice to have a faint light, in the bathroom? Like I say, minor point, we got round it by leaving the curtains open for some ambient light.
