Casa San Augustin is a wonderful and stylish boutique hotel, set in 17th century colonial homes. The rooms are comfy, quiet and relaxing, with wooden beams and stonework, spacious bathrooms, great AC (a must). If you can splurge, I highly recommend booking the Premium Suite with garden and jacuzzi (with one caveat - see downsides), perfect to cool off from the Colombian heat; the shared pool is also a bit on the small side. The hotel is ideally located at the heart of the walled city of Cartagena. We explored many restaurants from there (I recommend Uma Cantina and Carmen for the foodies and Tacos del Gordo for a more “hole in the wall” experience). Alma – the hotel’s restaurant – also serves delicious a la carte breakfast and Colombian dishes for lunch and dinner. The staff is very professional and charming. Overall, a great pick in a city with many options.

The garden and jacuzzi in the Premium Suite are directly under the windows of several other rooms on the upper floors. This affects the general privacy, and the management could maybe rearrange the plants to remediate. We reported a couple of times that the water in the shower never got hot (it did in the sink) but rather stayed lukewarm even after running for a while, but this was never addressed.

A beautifully restored monastery in the heart of the old walled city of Cartagena, with a great location. The service, from check in to check out, was excellent. The little touches made everything more than perfect—-turn down service with delicious little sweets, complimentary bottled water by the pool, a chef willing to make almost any dish on request, fresh juice and fresh fruit at breakfast and in the rooms daily, excellent concierge service with fabulous dining recommendations, tea and sweets at 5 pm. The bed was very comfortable, the way the hotel was decorated, the music playing by the pool, and great, but low key, security.

I have no complaints

Very charming and historic property with beautiful plants and several courtyards. Breakfast in the courtyard with a good selection of ala carte options and a mimosa on the house - great way to start your day here. The front desk team is super- esp. Paola and Esteban. They will be in touch via WhatsApp before you arrive - to ensure your arrival is smooth. They were responsive to our dismay with the first room (see comments below) and helped move us to a wonderful room #201 which was so quiet, facing the inner courtyard, and had a kitchenette and separate living and dining room. The Aurum Spa is excellent and the pool - though tiny, provides a nice relief in this sweltering time of the year. Love the Ortigia Sicilia bath amenities.

The first room #209 was noisy because of its proximity to the live music from Alma restaurant, and facing a busy street where a shop's alarm set off and rang for an hour at 10pm... Not a great start to a jet lagged evening. This hotel is a combination of three colonial houses with different levels, layout etc- so there are lots of steps up and down to get around - definitely not for those who are in a wheelchair or mobility issues.

Entire Staff and facility just spectacular, tremendously helpful.

Our room and bath were great size and beautiful. The seating not comfortable and the room quite dark. Music from Alma came into our room and 2 nights which not pleasant. Hotel did compensate us nicely for the noise disturbance 2 of our 5 nights and were VERY apologetic.

Location was spectacular and staff was very friendly. The ancient architecture was quite lovely and it felt very authentic. We enjoyed the spanish architecture.

Our room was nice but not as big or as luxe as we had hoped. The stone floors in the bathroom were not as comfortable and we hoped for more light in our room. Also, given that it was our 30 yr anniversary, the hotel did not do anything special for us and all the hotels we stayed in all over South America were much more gracious, even it meant a small dessert, flowers or chocolates in the room.

Excellent location, walked everywhere. Excellent staff - they helped with tours and dinner reservations prior to going to their hotel. Excellent restaurant, pool and spa. Gorgeous hotel - instagram worthy everywhere!

The Acasi private beach was just ok. The ocean floor is full of seaweed instead of sand. The boat ride was fantastic though and the served food was excellent.

Everything- the food, creative drinks, helpful concierge for dinner recommendations, the beauty of the property

There is nothing that I did not like about this property. The staff was exceptional, and their goal was to make sure that each and every guest had a wonderful stay and they surpassed this.

Hotel was small and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and included. Staff was exceptional. Because it was small we felt we met everyone staying at the hotel. The rooms are very dark and our keys did not work at all so we had to keep schanhing them. Recommend the hotel highly

More lighting in the rooms

I knew the Casa San Agustin would be nice, but I didn't know that it would be exceptional. From the moment we stepped in the property, we were met with the most helpful staff, most beautiful property, and most comfortable room. From all aspects, this property is above and beyond. There is not a thing I would wish to change, only that we could have stayed longer. Special thanks to Paula and Marco who made our stay extra special.

Nothing - it was perfect!

Recently stayed at this elegant hotel and had a wonderful experience! The ambiance was nice, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay.

We were disappointed with the service at the restaurant during dinner. On the other hand, the service during breakfast was wonderful.
