It had rooms with three beds, which are not available in many hotels.

Flight was delayed a day due to the typhoon so I wanted to extend another day but they ran out of 3-bed rooms. I wanted to squeeze the three of us into a twin room but they were too rigid and wanted us to book 2 rooms.

The hotel is colorful and attractive. The lobby looks onto a Japanese garden with comfortable chairs where we enjoyed reading time. The onsen/public bath is great and was not too crowded at the time I went, 6pm. The beds were very comfortable and the shower had nice pressure.

The breakfast offerings were never warm enough which, given it was winter, was less than ideal. Eating was further problematic in that we were there during the holiday period - Dec 29-Jan 4 - when most restaurants in the neighborhood were closed. In addition, all the museums and palaces were closed. We had not understood this would be the case when planning our trip to Japan. Kyoto was extremely crowded during this period. The buses were often too packed to get on and any restaurant that was open required lining up. Most did not take reservations.

Stayed at Mitsui Garden hotels for 3D2N. Room was small but nice and comfy, with humidifier provided. Breakfast was great (choices were similar to most other hotels, but not too crowded hence we had breakfast peacefully. Hotel location was 2 stations away from Kyoto station, however we can take the #50 bua direct from Kyoto station which stops in front of the hotel. Traveling to other areas such as Kyoto Bal, Gion and others could be reached by bus or train. There’s a family mart just 2-3 buildings next to the hotel hence very convenient. Public bath was not that big, with ~10 shower booths however was good enough and amenities provided (shampoo, conditioner, soap, facial wash, cleanser)

My pre-delivered luggage was told to be already in my room. However when I went to my room it was another traveller’s luggage. However the issue was addressed promptly by the hotel staff and my luggage was delivered within <5 mins to my room. Turns out the hotel staff mis-clipped the receipt paper. The hotel provided me some candies as form of apologies upon check out. No view in the room - window was facing a small residential apt building. AC directly sprays to my face while sleeping.

This was our favorite hotel during our stay in Japan. The hotel is quite big, not very personal, but it was actually much better than we expected. We got a free upgrade to a Moderate room when we arrived and that room was very spacious and nice. The TV had netflix etc and all other basic facilities you need. Beds was very comfortable. It is not the most central hotel but easy to get to all other parts of the city. We found a cute small road with lots of nice restaurants nearby. We would have wished we stayed here longer! There was a small spa also but we didn't use this.

The location was quiet but convenient. Ideal for a decent walk to Karasuma and beyond using various rail ways.. The room was clearly recently regraded and tasteful without being over the top nor boring. Breakfast was consistent and provided a good cross section of Japanese and Western bits and pieces. A diner should be able to find sufficient to enjoy breakfast. The Coffee was good even though I am a Tea preference person.

I like a bit of fresh air so the window wasn't opening sufficiently. I noticed an earlier occupant had opened the window beyond its designated stops. The toilet flush had to be watched and adjusted to reduce water running wastage. The first night I did open the window ajar but it was quite noisy (we were on the third floor overlooking the road) but after shutting it, it was peaceful.

Room size was very decent for 3 pax. TV has chrome cast function (although it is quite laggy), I can watch shows from YouTube! My dad especially enjoyed the public bath. There are many food options / convenience store / supermarkets around the area, great for breakfast and supper runs. Although it is a ~10mins walk to any metro station, it is right beside 2 bus stops. Still walkable from stations that serve key train lines e.g. to Arashiyama & from Osaka

Quite a walk from main shopping street; although quiet, but still felt far given how much we already had to walk in Japan.

Wow, what a hotel! The staff are just fantastic. They really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The rooms were spotlessly clean and perfect size with lots of extras to make your stay as stress free as possible. Lots of services available, including laundry, parking, lovely breakfast, vending machines, and lovely public baths! Location was ideal with a very large and good selection of places nearby to get food. Highly recommended and one I will be back to when in Kyoto.

Our room was very spacious and had the massive king bed to share for us (2 adults and 2 kids under 2). Room was clean and modern and perfect temp always. We really enjoyed the public bath experience.. with a lot of Japanese people staying at the hotel it felt very authentic. Breakfast was very traditional which was great trying all the things but the western additions were not well done like the eggs or bacon etc. Would have been really happy if I could have had some good eggs for me and my daughter. Staff were very lovely.

Lovely hotel. Super clean. Fantastic location, right close to subways, restaurants etc. Comfy beds, lovely linens. Loved this hotel. Sad there wasn't a cozy little bar for a drink on the property> also breakfast for us a disappointment. Excellent for local fair but as a Canadian, fish, seafood and pasta doesn't cut it for a breakfast. It really was a lovely buffet breakfast but so many foods I didn't recognize . Really wasnt appealing to out of country travellers.

The hotel was very nice and close to main road with all the stores. This hotel had a parking garage and it was only ¥2000 to park there.

On the first couple of nights we stayed at our hotel the staff let us pay for our parking ticket at their desk. The last day when we were leaving we had to use a parking ticket they issued to us and were asked to used the kiosk at the parking lot. Unfortunately their kiosk is very messed up. It would not take and of our coins or small yen amounts. It only took our ¥5000 and then it didn’t give us any change back. The kiosk was telling us to take our change yet there was no change to take.
