Fantastic location—just a few minutes from the train station and a short walk or one metro stop to Cologne Central Station. The hotel isn’t modern, but the room was very clean and the staff were super friendly. A nice surprise: breakfast was included, even though I didn’t recall seeing that when I booked, especially considering the price of the room. On my departure day, breakfast was scheduled to start later due to a holiday so I thought I was gonna miss it because I had to leave early. But it was already available just as I was checking out—so I still got to enjoy a nice buffet breakfast.

The breakfast staff was one of the nicest that I had encountered in any hotel. It was my third stay there, but this morning was the first time I had gone in for breakfast. And it was a pleasant experience and a wonderful way to start the day! Our room was excellent and large, for the price we paid, and it was very clean with a pleasant smell. We were facing the street, but couldn't hear anything at night, even with the window/door cracked open. And leaving the hotel, and making a couple of turns to the right, you'll find yourself in a very varied restaurant street. Across the street, just further up in the famous King Georg Jazzclub. There are always amazing performers there. Not to be missed!

Nobody's perfect! All their good points overshadow their bad ones.

A 10-minute walk from Cologne main train station made this a very good location for a layover. Staff were amazing - helpful, friendly and kind. The room was super clean. Wifi worked very well and the air-conditioning was a blessing on a hot summer's day. I left very early to catch a train to the airport. The dining room was not yet open for breakfast, but the kitchen staff packed an amazing lunch box, which lasted me the whole day! This is definitely a hotel I would visit again and highly recommend. Thank you!

Not a biggie, but the TV should be set up so guests only need to turn it on. One shouldn't need to ask for someone to come and help. Housekeeping might add this to their checklist when they're preparing a room for occupancy. A simple coffee machine in the room would be nice.

The hotel has a lot of old world charm, for instance, the Bier Stube, the Wood work, down bedding. It is the best of yesteryear Germany but with modern updates…lots of Gemütlichkeit:) The staff is super friendly and helpful (Ben & Corina) The food in the restaurant is excellent! My brother just raved about the Spargelsuppe (asparagus soup). Mind you, it was Spargelzeit when we visited. I ordered the mushroom soup which was chock full of mushrooms. I would wager it was equally delicious (a shout out to Björn)! The breakfast buffet is very generous, lovely, and delicious. We would most definitely come back again. BTW, the S-Bahn station is only a block away and the U-Bahn maybe 2 or 3 blocks away. If you walk down the street between the hotel and bar across the street, just a couple blocks down is a very cool, old Tor. A couple blocks from there is a grocery store, REWE.

When we first arrived after a flight from the USA, driving from Frankfurt, and heavy traffic in Cologne, we didn’t know where to park. I thought, “Oh my God, have I made a mistake?” Eventually, we found a spot and checked into the hotel (Thanks, Ben!) Afterwards, we parked the car across the street in hotel parking and everything was fine. We were awoken one morning promptly at 8:00 by the sounds of jackhammers below our window. Someone is renovating a parking area. Also, the elevator is small. It wasn’t a problem for us but just be aware. I shared a room with my brother which had a balcony and sitting area. We loved it, but know that not all rooms are the same.

We were given a family room on the second floor which was bigger than I expected. The beds were very comfortable & the air conditioning was a welcome addition, as other hotels we have been in recently did not have this. The duvets were light & ‘snuggly’ just like those adverts. 😂 there was a small balcony which was nice, and the soundproofing was A++ no street noise at all.

The bathroom door opened inwards, & the bathroom is small, but functional, it would be easier access if it opened into the room instead. The towels were small & not as ‘fluffy’ as I would have liked. There is no water or tea/coffee in the room.

Everything was perfect! The best things about this hotel are the service, the staff, the location and the breakfast. Breakfast was amazing with lots of varieties, and the breakfast area as well as the hotel restaurant and bar were fantastic! The staff were very nice and friendly, specially the staff serving breakfast. Located right next to Ebertplatz. City center and everything you need is near. I highly recommend this hotel!

Rather well located, not too far from the train station and the city center, but rather quiet. Good choice for breakfast. Comfortable and spacious room.

It took me a bit of time to realize that the reason why I was cold in the room was that the heaters were turned to zero, and on my second night the window had been left open, which I couldn't see first behind the curtain. I understand that we have to care about not overheating, but it's the first time I find heaters fully stopped when I enter a room in December. Of course I could switch it on, but I would have expected at least a little bit of warming from the beginning.

I loved the location and the inside of the hotel overall including my room. Yes room was small but perfect for a solo traveler. It was really clean and cozy. The bathroom was nice as well, only issue was the toilet kept clogging. Staff are very kind and welcoming. Also the breakfast was outstanding and a lot of variety. They even offered me a cappuccino which was delicious. In the rooms usually the windows are a little open so you can hear how busy the street is but once closed, you don’t hear anything. The air conditioner worked excellent and I slept like a baby. I would definitely come back.

Parking is across the street so I had trouble finding it but once I checked in they explained it to me. Toilet got clogged in the room but they fixed it fast.

On the first look the hotel might look dated. But after spending some time, I found it quite charming. I could see this charm the most in the breakfast area. We were seated and served with coffee which I found quite nice. Overall the staff were very friendly. Our room was really big. We had a small child and they already prepared the sofa bed. The hotel has a private parking on the other side of the street which is quite convenient.

Even though I understand keeping the original design is part of the character, I would have preferred to have an option for a room with a laminated floor rather than carpeted floor for hygiene reasons. There was no kettle at the room. But it was provided to us when requested.
