Mondial in Cologne is not only in a perfect location with modern, comfortable rooms — it’s the amazing team that really makes the difference. From check-in to check-out, everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. You can truly feel that they care about their guests. A special thank you to Herr Thomas and the team for going above and beyond when I needed help. I had forgotten my passport in the safe, and they handled everything quickly, calmly, and with such kindness. This kind of service is rare — and it’s what will definitely bring me back. This is a huge hotel. I think they upgraded me to a business room with a desk. The bed was firm with springs, good for the back. They were able to find a wonderful bathtub for me. Most rooms only have a shower. My room was on an interior courtyard, so it was quiet, as I requested. It is located right across from the Philharmonic and the Museum Ludwig. It is a short walk to the central railway station, but Google maps will not direct you there. It is possible to avoid going up any steps to the Cathedral and get to the hotel with a wheelie bag.

I am not a fan of a night light going on automatically when you get up to go to the bathroom, but that's a minor quibble. I think the hotel should send out directions so you don't go the long way round using Google maps.

we have stayed at the hotel several times as it is perfect when traveling to and from the UK by the Eurostar. It is always clean and pleasant when we visit, the area is busy with lots of restaurants and cafe's to eat and have a drink at. We also visited the Ludwig Art Museum which is brilliant and the hotel faces the side of the beautiful Cologne Cathedral.

We are older travellers and do not eat a huge amount - the one price for breakfast has put us off eating there as it could not be value for money for us as we would probably share the quantity offered in one breakfast.

The standard double bedroom was compact but very comfortable and well designed. The bed was very good and we slept well. Good shower room and well thought out space. The location in the city is superb, close to station, cathedral, old town, Museum Ludwig which were all on our list to visit.

We actually went for a breakfast free stay. The breakfast would have cost us 30 euros which seemed expensive. We did not have it so I cannot comment on the quality. Very good breakfasts can be had nearby at the Museum Ludwig restaurant and Cafe Reichard at about half the price.

Perfect location for sightseeing - steps away from the Dom and other central sights. Breakfast was lavish. Staff were helpful. The room has been redecorated in modern style. Only annoyance is the use of glass walls for the bathroom - make sure you're travelling with someone you don't mind witnessing your ablutions!

Excellent location. You can walk everywhere and it is so easy for travel as it is close to the central station. The service was exceptional and reception staff were very helpful. We left on Valentine’s Day and we got chocolate and roses which was very sweet. The room was clean and tidy and had everything you need. It was quite quiet even though it was Karneval season

The bathroom has a big window to the shower and you can see most of the bathroom which is not a big issue. However, it lights up most of the room when you turn on the light to the bathroom. So it’s not ideal if one person is sleeping

Good value in the off-season - were were there early January. Generous check-in (we were able to prior to 3) and check-out time (12pm). Central location, right near Dom, Ludwig Museum, Philharmonie. Room was quiet and very clean. Helpful staff available, also at a late hour. Relaxing spa (not busy) - robe, towels, slippers brought to the door at request. Coffee maker in the room. Good counter space in the bathroom to place your toiletries.

The heat was broken in the first room. This was troubleshooted very quickly and we were transferred to another efficiently with sincere apologies. The toilet in the new room continued to trickle after flushing, needed extra pushing on the button. Semi- see through shower into bedroom area, great for a couple but perhaps awkward otherwise.

Fantastic hotel in the centre of Cologne. Location was perfect! Walking distance to all the major sites, shops and restaurants. Rooms were clean, modern and spacious. Beds were very comfortable. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Great selection for breakfast which was served until 12!! Would definitely recommend this hotel. I would definitely stay here again when I return to Cologne!

It was above our usual price range, but it was worth it as we could walk (literally just across the street) to the Philharmonie and enjoy the superb location (a constant view of the Dom and easy access to the train station). The room was very comfortable, with one of the best hotel showers ever. The staff were also very helpful.

It would have been nice to have a heated drying rack in the bathroom.

Rooms were spotlessly clean and well equipped with good beds (though desk area was small for a business trip). Excellent sound proofing. We had two rooms, one with a view of the Cathedral. Parking was fine (via car lift, which was a new experience). Location is good, easy walking to the main attractions. Breakfast was very good.

The gym, honestly they would be better off not bothering. It was part of the decision to stay there and the tiny gym (1 bike, 1 treadmill, 1 rower and a few dumbells) in an airless box was not up to expectations. There is also nowhere for a group to sit and chat or play cards etc other than the main reception.
