Casa Sant'Andrea is one of Venice's hidden gems. From the moment you cross the threshold, you are greeted by the historic charm and understated elegance of this magnificent former monastery. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, offering an oasis of tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Every morning breakfast is a delight, with a variety of choices to suit all tastes. Proximity to Piazzale Roma and the Venice-Santa Lucia train station is an undeniable advantage, making getting around the city incredibly convenient. The staff are always helpful and welcoming, adding a personal touch that really makes a difference. Casa Sant'Andrea is not just a place to stay, it is an authentic experience of Venetian hospitality.

The location was great - right near the train and bus stations and it also has many water taxi stops right there to. Also - great free breakfast and coffee!!

When you leave the property you have to give them your key and then collect it again when you come back each time which was different

The location is walking distance of the train station and is right next to the water transportation. Ernesto was an exceptional front desk agent during our first night there! Loved that this place was a monestary for over 400 years! The rooms are a good size. Basic, very clean. Bathrooms large. This hotel is older, so adjust your expectations for modernity. We loved it here! Lovely space to sit outside in the courtyard in the evenings.

The beds were basic. Quite firm. Hard on the hips for two older gals! Some mattress upgrades would make this place a 10/10 for me.

The location is brilliant, close to the bus station and a water bus-stop outside the front door. The building is old, as all the buildings probably are on the island, so has some quirky features. My single room was small but had everything needed (wardrobe, desk and chair, bedside table, good lighting, view to the canal, air-conditioning) except for a TV. As the room was small the bed was narrow too but quite comfortable. The staff were polite and friendly, and the young lady in the afternoon was particularly helpful. Close by is a Co-op shop which was well stocked and very useful. Several restaurants and bars are situated the other side of the bus station, so about a five to ten minute walk away. I would stay here again, it was not luxurious, but perfectly acceptable.

The lift needs renewing. It is old and seemingly could only go up if the up button was pressed for the entire journey. I never managed to make it descend at all. Although I had a private bathroom it was in a corridor which connected to another bedroom. As far as I know I had sole use of this bathroom but the fact that it could be used by a third party made me feel uneasy. No TV in my room.

- great staff, very helpful - the building is old, as it is a historic building - so adjust your expectations. But it it beautifully 'old' - we left the luggage, no additional cost, and quite safe - we arrived after midnight and they are really open 24hrs, no delays to get in - safe on the street around the hotel - bus stop to main Venice very close, all easy access

- breakfast very simple, better to spend in a nice Venice coffee shop than there - a lot of steps (stairs) if you come from the train station

We arrived late due to our delayed flight but we received a very friendly welcome from Kamel the night receptionist. We didn't have any coins for the vending machine to get a coffee so he kindly offered to make one for us as the rooms do not have tea/coffee facilities. We declined the offer but thought it was really nice of him. During the day we received some very helpful advice from another receptionist about the best vaporetto to take for a planned trip. The included breakfast was excellent. We only stayed for one night due to the fact that the hotel only had availability for that night.

Although it was a convenient location because we were arriving at Piazzale Roma it wasn't the easiest place to find late at night - maybe it was because we were tired. After wandering around we eventually asked some waiters in a nearby cafe and they were very helpful.

For me the location was excellent since it was a quick walk from the Santa Lucia train station and also conveniently located to the San Basilio ferry terminal (going to Pula Croatia) Plus the vaporetto stop is basically outside the front door. Ernesto went above and beyond in his cheery attitude and helpfulness! Plus other staff members were pleasant and helpful as well. The single room was exactly as I expected. It is small but clean and efficient. The air conditioning worked well, as did the shower and wifi. While it's a simple room in an old building with lots of history, it was obvious that the management wanted to provide a nice atmosphere. Breakfast was nice with various selections though there are no hot food options. Eggs were hard-boiled. The only fruit was a fruit cocktail that went nicely on my yogurt.

I enjoyed everything and have no complaints. The only comment I would make is that the bed is on the harder side (if that's a problem for you) and the headboard makes quite a bit of noise when you get in and out of bed. Other than that, the place was very tranquil.

Hotel is located close to the bus stops and it is very easy to walk around. There is a supermarket close by. Breakfast was simple but good for us. The people who work at the reception were very friendly and kind. We enjoyed our stay. Our room was small, simple and clean. We had a shared bathroom and it was also very clean and comfortable.

The rooms are not sound proof, the first night we couldn't sleep because of a guest who was calling on the phone till 2 am and we couldn't really figure out which room she was in. We had a room on the first floor with the window on the water side. The boats start early in the morning and they are pretty noisy. We woke up early in the morning with the sound of the boats. The pillows were too tick and hard for me.

The location was the hotel's strongest point - close to the bus station, train station, and the marina. I recommend the hotel for a short stay, preferably without breakfast.

Products such as fruits and vegetables were missing at breakfast. In addition, the lift in the hotel works at a very slow pace. There were only 3 electrical sockets in the 3-bedroom, including one next to the entrance door and one in the bathroom. In November, the room was cold due to the lack of a radiator.

I really loved my stay here, this building used to be a monastery and you can see the old original wooden frame in the rooms and notice some other historical features as well. You leave your key at the desk when you leave, don't argue with staff about this, it seems common in every city I've visited that has canals (Amsterdam, Giethoorn and now Venice) Speaking of staff they were great, some of the friendliest people I've experienced in all of Italy! Those from North America will know what I mean :P I found the breakfast attendant super nice each day and this hotel had the most selection of any hotel I stayed at (7 this trip) I loved the addition of a chair in the bathroom, as I have a fainting condition it's a game changer and something that many hotels do not include. The location cannot be beat! Super close to the trains/busses and multiple vaporetto stops. Grocery store around the corner if you need fruit or snacks. I was able to walk most places in under 45 min as a disabled person. Though elevator access is not offered, there is one available The shared space outside the rooms is loud and echoes but the actual area is pretty quiet considering it's vicinity to trains etc, once you close the window panes there is EXTREMELY effective light blockage, I didn't have to wear my eye mask at all here!

Shower stall was a bit small but luckily I am not a very large person. Hotels in Italy really don't have a mini fridge or tea kettle so be prepared to buy all of your meals/drinks at restaurants! Another commonality is a general lack of soundproofing between rooms and from the hallways. Rooms were a bit chilly but that's expected with an old building and heaters and extra blankets provided. It was also rainy and windy during my stay. The beds are not soft so be aware of that if you're a side sleeper like me you might get a slight bruises around the hips.
