We loved our room, the online pics do not do it justice. A quirky, kitsch, kiwiana theme, which was novel and stylishly done. The room was large and airy. We had a lovely balcony with amazing views over the harbour, Waitangi park and city skyline. The minibar was well stocked with a wide range of artisan kiwi drinks and snacks. The bed was very comfortable and clean, with good pillows and bedding. A Smart TV with all the tech you need. Loved the record player and vinyl. Plenty of seating, counters and tables. We personally loved the glass walled bathroom, with heated floors, free standing bath, dual sinks and incredible assortment of top quality bathroom products. We live rurally, and though there was city noise, as is to be expected from such a busy part of the city, it did not disturb our sleep at all. The overnight parking is a stroll through Waitangi park to Te Papa, which needs to be considered when checking in, or out, but was easy to sort at the front desk and worked for us. The hotel itself is in a great location for easy walking to restaurants, bars, movies, museums, parks and the waterfront. The staff were all warm and helpful, the champagne on arrival was a nice touch and the downstairs cafe had a great simple breakfast menu and great coffee which we really enjoyed. Its so nice to find such a gem of a boutique hotel with character and attention to detail and we will definately be back.

We typically have terrible experiences when staying at hotels, but not at Ohtel! We had such a wonderful experience at this small boutique hotel. Staff is so welcoming and accommodating (everything from requesting milk preferences prior to arrival so you have what you need in the morning, to a late check out to coordinate with our mid-afternoon flight). We stayed in one of the suites with a large spa-like soaking tub. Rooms are decorated in a fun retro style but still felt contemporary and inviting with views of the park and harbor. Our reservation included breakfast, which was lovely (eggs, skillet potatoes, bacon, roasted tomatoes, sourdough bread) completely cooked to order. Location of the hotel is a short walk to restaurants, grocery store, Te Papa museum, etc. Ticked every box!

Cannot fault a thing.

Wonderful location and very walkable. We arrived in a rental car and parked across the street. We just left the car there and used the parking meter app and added time when needed. 8pm thru 8 am was free, it was great. Stefan was amazing, what a great person!! His recommendation for dinner ( Monsoon Poon) was 100% spot on, we walked easily there and back. The room was gorgeous and the view was wonderful. I was so happy we stayed and would definitely stay again if we ever go to Wellington again! Also what a lovely city...my goodness just fabulous and wish we had more time!!

Nothing!

The rooms are generous in every way and nicely curated. There are many little touches and offerings that set it apart from other hotels around - my room was heated so it was warm and welcoming on a cold night. The magazines and amenities were local. Ohtel reminds me of small family run ‘design hotels’ in Europe. Staff are warm, socially skilled and helpful. Good restaurants around. I will go back.

The property is on the edge of the CBD which has pluses and minuses. It is all about the weather in Wellington - if wet and windy, it is really unpleasant walking into town - so get an Uber or taxi. The branding and marketing possibly needs to strengthen, with attention to correct spelling and connection to local Maori stories and history - not just the white guys. (It’s “Haere mai”). But overall it is a gem.

A great hotel close to the waterfront. Ideal if you intend to walk the city. There are some great restaurants very close on Majoribanks St, we went to Rosella, but make sure you book ahead as they are small and very popular. The room was big and had everything we wanted. I loved the retro furnishings from the 60/70's The location was excellent. The breakfast in the cafe downstairs was very good. Great coffee as well.

I cant fault anything.

The lady on reception was so helpful. I think her name was Che. She arranged a taxi for the following morning and managed to pack a few goodies for breakfast as we were leaving at 07.45hrs. We were a little stressed on arrival and tired from our long journey. So thanks so very much for everything you did for us.

There was nothing not to like. The room and furnishings were really excellent and the bathroom out of this world. We had a room on the top floor and had the best sleep since our arrival in New Zealand. So quiet.

Fabulous retro style wee place to stay. Loved all the retro pieces to look at and lovely room with a view. Enjoyed breakfast both days in the boutique cafe and the complimentary drinks were a nice surprise. Close to New World and restaurants. Recommend Moonsoon Poon for dinner.

Not alot at all maybe the wooden panel around the bed if you get up during the night and forget it’s there but other than that it’s was perfect.

The location is excellent, walking distance to everything. Right on the waterfront. 5 minutes walk to Te Papa Museum. Staff were wonderful. Welcome drinks on arrival, special homemade muffins for Matariki day. It is a small intimate hotel, but we liked that. The staff know who you are and are ready with a smile and personal greeting. Breakfast was included in our stay and was lovely.

The bathroom may not be to everyone's taste as it is a glass enclosure with a curtain that you can pull across for privacy. As you are on quite a busy road, it can get a little noisy, but we didn't notice that at night. Water in the shower ran cold a few times when using it but only for a few seconds. Just a suggestion - offer guests the option to reuse towels to help save water etc.

We loved the hotel. Bedroom was beautiful with everything you would want including mini kitchen. Room was cleaned daily and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our bedroom had a small porthole window and not the large windows and view we wished we had. However, this did not prevent us from enjoying our stay in this hotel. Location was excellent.

Loved this ohtel just enough quirkiness with super comfy bed. Delightful helpful staff. Excellent coffee! Appreciated the suggestions for eateries resulting in our best dine out experience of Wellington. Location easy for access to shopping, Te Papa, and restaurants.

No parking even though parking available close by allow $40 extra per day…. If parking at Te Papa this goes to supporting Te Papa so think of it as a donation!
