The staff were excellent and very helpful. Usually when you read previous reviews they don't always match what you, yourself experience, however, this hotel was excellent in all aspects. Having one of the premier rooms with airport views was fab. Location was very good as Southend is a very busy place and we were so pleased we didn't go to a hotel in town as parking was very poor at some other hotels. The food served in the restaurant both in the mornings and in the evening were varied and tasty. We had booked a deal with dinner included which was very good value for money. We would stay here again and have let friends know about it.

Clean room, nice bedding including pillows, comfortable bed, good breakfast, nice staff, food/snacks nice, nice hotel, quiet location, the family bedroom with a good size second bed,

The shower's temperature was very inconsistent, going from cold to hot each second so very unpleasant, the sink in the bathroom is blocked...water going down very slowly, parts of the bath apparatus just fell off without being touched, £10 parking was not great, parking ticket to be handed over to reception every time we left the hotel so it can be validated, TV could be updated with new one with apps. The channels available were very basic.

The staff were all very friendly. The food I had in the evening was absolutely divine. A 2-course meal at a good price and very tasty.

Breakfast. There were plenty of good options to choose from, though. I just thought for the fry up the bacon and sausages weren't for me.

Our room was spacious and comfortable. The Hotel TV page was most helpful. The location suited our needs and was good value for money. The breakfast was self service and well cooked. Decaffeinated drink options was a bonus.

Not enough milk for more than one hot drink in the room. The member of staff who served us at breakfast failed to advise us of the process of the self serve system for breakfast, we had to ask her; however, we noticed other members of staff asking their clients if they had breakfasted there before.

Our booked room was occupied by someone else when we arrived but this lady in the reception made the necessary adjustments right away. I called room service several times the next day to order food, no answer, my wife decided to go down the reception area, the same lady took her order, brought our order (2trays one after another) , fast and food was hot, even when she was alone in the reception as her colleague has left. Just incredible service, doing the extra mile for us. MS.INGELA deserves the credit, she truly is an asset to your organisation!

Phil particularly liked the airport view Staff were very helpful at breakfast,getting any thing extra quickly and without fuss. We came to visit friends and family and as we didn’t bring the car trains and buses were close by and frequent. We liked that the toiletries were in dispensers still nice quality but less single use plastics.

Breakfast eggs were hard after being under heat lamp. However staff were able to get boiled eggs for me which were cooked perfectly.

Staff was nice, really accomadating and understanding of my disabilities. I had a few issues in my stay that was out of staff control, but they were quick to come up with a solution. Staff went out of there way to make me feel happy! The breakfast I had delivered to the room due to my mobility issues and they put alot on there really worth the money. Bed was comfortable and the wet room was really spacious. Over all an amazing stay!

The car park payment system was a bit confusing. Also the night reception staff was not as vidulate as I would like with me being a female solo traveler. The staff were really accommodating of my assistance dog overall but it would be nicer if thier policy was more clearer to avoid any confusion

Checking in was good, helpful reception staff. Room was very cosy and pleasant. Easy access to the city of southend

Nothing to dislike.

I wasn’t expecting much except a budget chain hotel, however my expectations were way and beyond. Our room was located on the third floor and our parents were adjoining. We booked an executive room and a twin. They were both lovely. Unfortunately our parents bathroom was not suitable for them, shower over a small bath, so I asked reception if there was an accessible bathroom available. Luckily there was , however only with a double bed. Apparently ALL the accessible rooms only had doubles. However the bathroom at this stage was more important so we chose to swop. On seeing the room it was obviously big enough to house a z-bed so I enquired about the possibility. They agreed to do this, but as it was last house keeping hours they said it may not be feasible that day but they would try. We chose to eat in their sky restaurant that evening. We had a party of 13 and we had pre booked a table. There was an offer on 33% of set menu which included 2or 3 course meal. Although it was quite a long wait to get our meal, the food was ok, not Michelin star but not poor either. Not a huge selection for this offer but we all chose meals and pud’s. However on going to pay for our bill we wanted to do this per couple as some people had wine beer etc. bless the waitress she had such a job splitting it but we got there eventually. Our bed was comfortable, good quality bedding and we both slept well. The toiletries were of a good standard and the towels were soft and fluffy. Tea tray, fine , usual tea, coffee, milk, etc. we had the executive room so we had a fridge. Each room has an iron and ironing board and hairdryer. Adequate hangers and storage areas. Next morning we met for breakfast. It was really really delicious with a huge selection of cold and hot breakfast options including a menu that you could choose porridge, pancakes etc from. Good quality cutlery and proper napkins. Coffee in a pot which was also good quality. Staff on the front desk were kind and personable.

Didn’t agree with paying for parking. This should be included in the price. Didn’t think the accessibility rooms should just be doubles. Unfortunately the z-bed only got put into my parents room on the last day, so my mother in law slept on the chair for the first two nights which wasn’t ideal. As I booked through Booking.com I wasn’t allowed my loyalty points from IHG

What stands out at this hotel is the staff and the standards, as I stay here around 30 times per year and would not stay anywhere else. The breakfast is superb with everything could could want and staff that are very willing to help with anything. Rooms are very comfortable, clean with excellent beds plus you can bring your dog who gets a goody bag just for staying. The reception staff are truly exceptional and cannot do enough to accommodate any requests if possible and any requests are acted upon straightaway.

The only thing that I do find a bit annoying is paying for parking my car, as I am staying at the hotel I have no choice but to park in the car park, so not having it included is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow. Perhaps free parking for IHG members could be a good loyalty advantage.
