The location, right on the green, was charming, and the view from the room was great. I very much liked the relaxed breakfast – people were scattered around the lounge areas rather than in a dining room, and you could really relax and chat. The food was top notch, and the room had many facilities, including a massive freestanding bath. Also at the weekend street parking was free, which was handy. It was quite a walk to civilisation and things to do, but the location was generally quiet.
The room itself was very small, although the bathroom was huge. It was only May, but I found the room rather hot (although it's true we didn't notice the aircon till the morning). I am afraid found the bed very small and very uncomfortable; the size problem was compounded by the enormous pillows (I'm a slight 5'4). Also the walls and ceilings are pretty thin, so could hear people in other rooms.

We liked Everything...We were a family of 7 staying in Number 38..What a find...The four rooms we had were all spotless.... coffee, tea and the most delicious macaroons provided in all.The staff were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them....Breakfast delicious on both days, with good choice of food... First time staying...Won't be the last..Approx 20- 25 min walk into Clifton Village, but Whitladies Road with cafes, restaurants, shops literally around the corner...Parking free with permit, first come, first served basis...
Nothing !

Beautiful townhouse with sympathetic art and furnishings. Staff are lovely and very helpful and breakfast was a tasty joy! Set in green surroundings with great views of the city and only 13 mins walk downhill to fantastic independent cocktail bars and restaurants. Try Her Majesty’s Secret Service near Clifton Down station which is brilliant
The steep stairs to rooms 6-10 might not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues but as an historic house it’s to be excepted

Lovely location up at the top of the town, very understated just blends in which is lovely. Inside was absolutely gorgeous. It's an old building, but it is really nicely decorated and furnished, have paid a lot more, and got significantly less, so ten out ten. We had one of the larger rooms, which was perfect and had a lovely view across the city when the sun came up. The room was well presented with a lovely, comfy feel and one really nice touch some fresh milk in the fridge for the lovely coffee. The bed was firm but perfect for us, and large, well filled pillows. They only do breakfast but would definitely recommend it, and there is a lovely park across the road to walk it off 😀 Will definitely be going back for a couple of nights next time.
Nothing really did have a dripping tap, which we informed them about, and they said they would get it sorted out. Just a shame they do not do an evening meal because the breakfast was wonderful.

I always stay at number 38 as I love the relaxed quality nature of this boutique hotel. the location for me is perfect in quieter cliftonvile (yet still within walk of the centre if needed) overlooking the common and next to white ladies road for any dinner reservations. The staff are the perfect blend of attentive yet unseen. The beds are the comfiest (I always have a good. nights sleep) and the bathrooms decadent. at night the staff go home - and leave you the library and lounge to relax in at your leisure.
there really isn’t anything I don’t like!

Everyone and everything. From the moment I arrived at the hotel, I adored it. The hotel knew I was having trouble finding it, and one of the team members, a kind gentleman, greeted me even though it was contactless as he was "only next door" and could come by. He could not have been nicer. While offering, he just grabbed my luggage and showed me my room, which was gorgeous. I have stayed in many hotels worldwide; this is one of the most cozy but elegant, relaxed, charming rooms I have ever stayed in. You don't want to leave, but they were nice enough to book me dinner at one of the restaurants they recommended nearby. After I came down, the gentleman told me he would walk with me to the restaurant because it would be easier. What was the last time that happened to you? I felt like a lucky child being cared for, and I enjoyed the chat as we walked. After a great dinner, I returned and bathed in the zinc tub. After a long day and flights, I love a bath, but this was unique and deep. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. They also have a great shower, so it is not either\or... It was fantastic, but everything and every detail was well thought out, so the cohesive whole was terrific. Their breakfast choices were exceptional but also had the standards and were tasty, with quality jams and tea. But what makes it stand out is they get hospitality. It's not just that the hotel is beautiful, but it's hip without any attitude and friendly. The personal art collection the owner shares raises the interiors to a whole new level. It's everything you want and is not a carbon copy of every hotel. It's why you want to stay in a small boutique hotel, but the service is first class, the people love to work there, and it shows because they work from the heart, make you feel welcome, and you don't want to leave as it offers excellent value and a wonderful haven.
I wanted more time to enjoy the delicious, exceptional breakfast. I wish that during my travels, I had not lost the list of everyone's names who make this hotel so great so I could thank them personally.

From the moment you enter, you feel welcomed. The greeting is smiley and personable; the room clean, welcoming and exceptionally well-presented from a décor perspective. Breakfast is exceptional both in quality and quantity. It is a high quality get-away where the small details elude quality. Local eateries are a short walk away with plenty of choice and green space is across the road. I am fussy and I would definitely recommend you stay here!
If you are needing a working space, ask for a room with a desk as not all have one.

The room had such a cosy yet spacious feel to it! The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was a dream! I love the products provided and loved the idea that you could purchase new bottles from the hotel of any of the bathroom toiletries to take home! The staff were super helpful from before we even arrived, through the messaging function, to when we had checked out; they helped me make our stay extra special by providing petals and a birthday card for the room. I’ll definitely be staying again!
Nothing to note!

Loved the welcome, the price, the decor, the breakfast, the view from our room at the back of the hotel, the fan, windows you could open, the plantation shutters, the old-fashioned radio playing Classic fm when we arrived, the little outside terrace, the friendly and helpful staff, free weekend street parking, proximity to city centre without being right in the hustle and bustle!
Tea bags - would have preferred a more flavoursome breakfast tea. But that was literally the only negative we could think of...!!

We absolutely loved this hotel and would highly recommend if it you are looking for a boutique hotel in Bristol, but don't want to be in the busy city centre. We booked a luxury double room and the room was fantastic and very light & airy - it was large, comfortable, with a huge bathroom and gorgeous toiletries (100 Acres). The breakfast was great (good quality ingredients and a nice selection of dishes) as were the staff. The hotel is on a street which is permit parking from Monday to Friday, so if you arrive during these days, you can request a parking permit from the hotel and as long as they have a spare permit, its not a problem. If you don't get a permit, there is plenty of free parking 5 mins away. The location of the hotel is on the edge of Clifton, the really nice area of Bristol. For us it didn't matter as we like walking, but Clifton Village is about a 20 min walk (Clifton Village is gorgeous), and the centre of Bristol is about 30-40 mins walk. There are also buses but we didn't use them. We will definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Bristol.
