Fabulous room - beautifully decorated - bed was huge and extremely comfortable. Great views, well sound proofed despite busy road outside. Loved the huge steel bath (which was surprisngly comfortable), also the loo and shower hidden behind wood panels. Breakfast was excellent - great choices and all delicious. Liked that it was served (no buffet) and the pre-order system worked really well
Nothing - it was pretty much faultless. (I guess being a VERY picky there were a couple of bits of very minor maintenance that need tending to - the white painted inner front door has quite a few paint chips missing from where it's been kicked and is grubby where hands grab it. And the hot tap in out loo washbasin needs replacing - it looks as tough it's been leaking for a little while. But I gather the hotel has been full all summer so I guess they haven't had time to address these!)

The super comfortable bed, the shutters to block light, the lovely view from the bathroom over Clifton from room 7, the high quality of the accommodation generally , the really helpful and friendly staff and the tasty cooked breakfast. The road at the front, described as busy by others, was quiet on a Sunday morning.
Room 7 was under the reception area I think as we heard noises above from early in the morning. This lower ground room was overlooked by the road at the front. I do like a 3 course hotel breakfast so it did seem a shame that you had to pay extra for that for the room price.

Great little hotel. No bar area etc so more of a guest house but a very nice one. Lovely big room with very comfortable bed and good quality pillows and bedding. Everything was exceptionally clean. Great air conditioning and fans which were perfect as hot weather when we stayed. Plenty on on street parking around Clifton Downs so no issue finding somewhere to park. We will definitely stay again. Great breakfast options too.
Not keen on having to decide what to eat for breakfast the night before. The cost was £290 for the night including breakfast which isn't a cheap option but the quality of the room and breakfast made it OK.

The location, right on the green, was charming, and the view from the room was great. I very much liked the relaxed breakfast – people were scattered around the lounge areas rather than in a dining room, and you could really relax and chat. The food was top notch, and the room had many facilities, including a massive freestanding bath. Also at the weekend street parking was free, which was handy. It was quite a walk to civilisation and things to do, but the location was generally quiet.
The room itself was very small, although the bathroom was huge. It was only May, but I found the room rather hot (although it's true we didn't notice the aircon till the morning). I am afraid found the bed very small and very uncomfortable; the size problem was compounded by the enormous pillows (I'm a slight 5'4). Also the walls and ceilings are pretty thin, so could hear people in other rooms.

We liked Everything...We were a family of 7 staying in Number 38..What a find...The four rooms we had were all spotless.... coffee, tea and the most delicious macaroons provided in all.The staff were so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them....Breakfast delicious on both days, with good choice of food... First time staying...Won't be the last..Approx 20- 25 min walk into Clifton Village, but Whitladies Road with cafes, restaurants, shops literally around the corner...Parking free with permit, first come, first served basis...
Nothing !

Beautiful townhouse with sympathetic art and furnishings. Staff are lovely and very helpful and breakfast was a tasty joy! Set in green surroundings with great views of the city and only 13 mins walk downhill to fantastic independent cocktail bars and restaurants. Try Her Majesty’s Secret Service near Clifton Down station which is brilliant
The steep stairs to rooms 6-10 might not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues but as an historic house it’s to be excepted

The staff member who signed us in was absolutely lovely, she was very accomodating and made us feel comfortable. She helped us with knowledge of the area which was very beneficial. The room and lounge area were lovely. We loved the added touches of the robes and slippers, complimentary water and Nibbles too. Very comfortable and relaxing
The only thing for me was the shower was only an over head which was a struggle for me not to get my hair wet. But my Husband loved it as he does wash his hair daily

Lovely location up at the top of the town, very understated just blends in which is lovely. Inside was absolutely gorgeous. It's an old building, but it is really nicely decorated and furnished, have paid a lot more, and got significantly less, so ten out ten. We had one of the larger rooms, which was perfect and had a lovely view across the city when the sun came up. The room was well presented with a lovely, comfy feel and one really nice touch some fresh milk in the fridge for the lovely coffee. The bed was firm but perfect for us, and large, well filled pillows. They only do breakfast but would definitely recommend it, and there is a lovely park across the road to walk it off 😀 Will definitely be going back for a couple of nights next time.
Nothing really did have a dripping tap, which we informed them about, and they said they would get it sorted out. Just a shame they do not do an evening meal because the breakfast was wonderful.

I always stay at number 38 as I love the relaxed quality nature of this boutique hotel. the location for me is perfect in quieter cliftonvile (yet still within walk of the centre if needed) overlooking the common and next to white ladies road for any dinner reservations. The staff are the perfect blend of attentive yet unseen. The beds are the comfiest (I always have a good. nights sleep) and the bathrooms decadent. at night the staff go home - and leave you the library and lounge to relax in at your leisure.
there really isn’t anything I don’t like!

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my sister in law's wedding night. They offered us late checkout at no extra charge plus rose petals on the bed and a wedding card. They also allowed them to check their bags in the day before, as they would be arriving straight from the venue. They advised that they loved the massive bathroom. There was a large comfortable bed. They loved the added touch of the rose petals. Plenty of storage. Lovely breakfast.
The room was very hot, but there was a fan provided.
