This is the second year running we’ve stayed at Boxmoor Lodge and we booked up for next year before we left. Perfect location for the floating market and live music at the fishery wharf cafe during late May bank holiday weekend. It’s right next to the train station to get into the centre of London and not far from the centre of Hemel for shops etc. The rooms are always comfortable and clean. WiFi is perfect and the room had everything we needed. The staff are always friendly, happy to help and are very accommodating when it comes to asking if we can check in early after a 6 hour drive. I can’t recommend this place enough. Looking forward to next year already!

We had a lovely stay at this lodge. The staff were very good to us throughout our visit—friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with a nice variety and a relaxed atmosphere. The lodge grounds were especially pleasant, and we really appreciated being able to enjoy the outdoor space in the warm weather. After we checked out, we realised we had forgotten something. The team couldn’t have been more helpful—they kindly offered to post it to us. In the end, we were able to return and collect it, and they had it safely set aside for us. All in all, a really positive experience and we’d be happy to return.

Check in was over the phone to access a key safe outside the main building, but only took 2 mins. The rooms were of a good size but were just a bit dated in terms of fittings and decor - a light renovation would be good. This applies to the bathroom as well. The room was nice and warm and had usual facilities. There was some noise from the room, above in terms of footstep’s, until midnight. There is a short walk across a courtyard for breakfast and both full English and continental were very good. Would definitely stay again when visiting Hemel Hempstead or London (25 mins on train to Euston) from nearby train station (500 yards).

Convenient location. The room was comfortable with a desk/with mirror, tea & coffee making facilities with one packet with two biscuits. The breakfast included juice, croissants, cereals, fruit salad, and toast. A cooked breakfast was an additional charge.
There were two pillows, but we found them 'lumpy' and not as supported as we are used to. Luckily for my husband I could not eat the biscuits because it contained milk. Some other have started to offer plant-based/vegan offerings, e.g. Bourbon biscuits. The room was largely clean, but the hairdryer was dusty, probably because it hadn't been used, but the lady we met was a lot of rooms to cover, seemingly on her own.

The facilities and the staff were amazing. The room was exceptionally clean and I loved the under floor heating in the bathroom. The breakfast staff were exceptional. The front of staff waitress was so kind and friendly, not only to me but to all the guests.
The curtain fell completely off of its rail when I opened the window curtain in the morning. I could only have a bath because there were no instructions on how to get water out of the shower? I needed a good nights sleep, which was why I stayed over. But unfortunately I was kept awake until 1am by the nabours talking! Better sound insoluation between adjoining rooms would help to solve this. For me, my bed was a little hard.

The staff who welcomed me (Sonia and a colleague) were amazing and the breakfasts were wonderful. I couldn't have asked for more. The lady who looks after the Dining Room and breakfasts from Mondays onwards was superb - she was absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for the guests. My hotel room was spotlessly clean and had everything I could have asked for. The complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee were greatly appreciated also. 😀 I loved the setting of the hotel as, in spite of it being close to a main road it was tranquil and had a small garden when I could sit and hear the birds singing. The main building is old and very quirky but absolutely charming.
Nothing. The only thing I would have liked was a full-length mirror in the bedroom.

Really nice and well kept grounds, rooms were nice, staff were lovely, breakfast was included and was fine. There were also options for cooked breakfast at an additional charge which seem very reasonable.
Was all pretty good, I did want to be able to have a drink in the bar but the info said that is was now bed and breakfast only, from looking on the internet I was lead to believe the bar was still open, I must of read a historical post, although I was told by a staff member at breakfast that if we phoned they may be able to open the bar, things in the room were a little dated but not a problem

Fantastic breakfast and lovely staff. The location is great and the rooms are extremely clean. Plenty of parking spaces. Fantastic gastro-pub nearby: the Fisheries Inn.
Very limited number of power points. My partner needs electricity near the bed for his respirator, and we had to pull an extension through the room, which is not very safe. Only one of the bed lights worked, which was no big deal but it would have been nice to have both. The area is a bit noisy, on a very busy road, but this was not too much of a problem. No one in the premises in the evening although they do leave a contact number. No possibility to have a nice evening drink there as they shut mid afternoon.

The lodge was clean and tidy the owners welcomed you on arrival and said enjoy your stay any problems please knock the door we are here to help,The lodge is in a good situation for public transport to get around if you don’t drive town 5 minutes drive away and for what we used it for was to go to Warner brothers studio and whipsnade zoo both about 30 minutes away witch was nice. They did continental breakfast but to up grade to a full English breakfast was just £8 pounds well worth it gave you a good start to the day.
Nothing bad at all to say was very good.

The continental breakfast included in the price was excellent with a good selection of food. All of the staff were helpful and pleasant. The hotel itself couldn’t be in a better position so convenient for the train station of Hemel Hempstead and also by car which I used.
Some of the decoration was a little bit tired. The hangers fell out of the restraining section. But overall the room was excellent - big bed, very clean and with everything you needed for a short day
