We spent one night at the tastefully and stylishly furnished Hotel Johann in Berlin-Kreuzberg. It's a very nice, uncomplicated hotel in a remarkably quiet location. Yet, it's very centrally located. The rooms are beautifully furnished and modern. If we were to visit Berlin again, we would definitely choose the Johann instead of checking into one of the ubiquitous large chains as anonymous guests. We really enjoyed it. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, fresh, and lovingly prepared. Thank you for the wonderful stay we had at the Hotel Johann.

Beautiful room. Nice view out the window. Very comfortable bed, though a little bit stiff. Excellent breakfast.

Check in was really difficult. We arrived at about 6 PM as I recall. We we did get the message and had the icon to scan, but we couldn’t figure out how to get in the front door. While we were waiting, another renter came by and was nice enough tolet us in the front door. Then we were able to use the code and get our keys and room. It sure would’ve been nice to have had a warm body there to greet us. The next morning, the person who was available at the front desk was very dismissive of our needs, never made eye contact, didn’t smile, didn’t welcome us. She seemed like she really didn’t like her job very much. It would’ve been nice to have had a little bit more of a welcome greeting.

Small and friendly hotel in a quiet neighbourhood of Berlin surrounded by trees. - Details well thought-of, everything worked great - Excellent breakfast (one of the best-boiled eggs I've seen at hotels!) - Single room with big windows with everything you need - Not manned 24/24 but efficient communication and kind support make up for it - Near the market, coffee shops and authentic (not touristy) areas

Bed a little bit softer than my preferred (hard) type - No air-con (they provided a mini fan): I like warmer rooms but it happened to be one of the hottest days, so I left the huge windows for 10-15 minutes to let the cool air in but with that entered mosquitos ;-// and the night was tough. - 1 mini-bottle of complimentary water for a 3-night stay was too little, especially with the heat wave (and no air-con) - A bit far from public transportation (I used buses and subways) so need to be fit/willing to walk - Coffee/kettle in the room would have been nice (though kettles are provided in the downstairs self-service area)

Great hotel, albeit the rooms are a bit small. We had a Comfort double room which is comfortable for 2 adults. The staff are great, willing to help and answer any questions. We had a continental breakfast one morning which was also fantastic with a wide selection of breads, pastries, eggs and fruit

Our other room (we booked 2) was the Standard Double room - this was very small. Potentially OK for a couple, but for 2 adult male siblings (both over 6 foot) it was a squeeze. Also the hotel is in a very quiet location so need to explore a few hundred metres to get into the action. We liked the quiet aspect though

The room was great and comfortable. It was also super quiet and the view from the windows was beautiful! Breakfast was also delicious, even though it wasn't included.

It would have been nice to have even a little fridge in the room. Sliding glass door to the bathroom was also a bit weird choice.

Location and noice level were excellent. I prefer smaller Hotels like this over the 500+ bed Hotels.

My first double room had supposedly a queen size double bed. However there was a wooden pole in the middle (as two single beds were just put together) and hence the bed was not very comfortable.

I had an amazing stay at Hotel Johann. The staff was really helpful and pleasant, and the check-in was straightforward. The room was exceptionally clean with all the amenities you need for an enjoyable stay. Concerning the location, the hotel is just a short walk away from all the must-see attractions in Berlin. Also, I would highly recommend their breakfast :)

Cozy, modern, comfortable, quiet, and well-run hotel. Good wifi, modern room and bathroom, blackout curtains, and well-heated in winter. Excellent value for the price point. The location is good in a safe and quiet neighborhood in Kreuzberg. It's a 7-10 minute walk to the subway and 2-3 minutes from a bus stop with frequent departures to the main tourist sights. It's also super-close to some of the best döner and currywurst in Berlin by Mehringdamm station. (Handy for getting there early if you don't want to queue for 1-2 hours.) The staff is super-friendly—not sure if it's a family-run hotel but it felt like home. Although I didn't get breakfast, they had snacks and drinks for purchase on an honor system by the lobby, which was handy. I've been to Berlin many times and this was my first time at Hotel Johann. I will definitely be back!

Clean, quiet, friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast buffet, great neighbourhood. Hotel Johan is a perfect choice in Berlin. Close enough to most sights one would want to see and neighbourhood-y enough to make you feel like you are a Berliner.
