Motel 6 was the perfect base for our 4 night stay in Whangarei. We especially appreciated the upgrade to the apartment which was spacious and had a good kitchen. The staff were incredibly friendly and responsive, for example replacing blown lightbulbs as soon as we mentioned it. The apartment was lovely and clean, with a retro vibe. The location was excellent, with a great supermarket almost next door and we walked to town several times. Thanks for a memorable stay and we would definitely stay here again.

The shower was okay but water pressure not the best. Otherwise everything was pretty good

We booked last minute to be able to stay in town for my nieces school ball. This was available short notice for a reasonable price. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size for 3 adults and a teenager. There was plenty of heating. Love the fact there was disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste. I have stayed at a lot of hotels and motels and not had that before and I have r moments i forgot to pack one so that was great. The location was so handy and for a low cost accommodation it was perfect for our needs. Would definitely recommend for a person or family on a budget.

Not so much a dislike and not the fault of the accomdation but the parking can be a bit tight if the motel were full but something just to check beforehand. Rooms has some older styled finishings like duvet and curtain styles but were clean just could use a modern touch in future but overall still good value.

Easy to find and access. Was able to park outside the door of a ground floor unit. It was on a busy road but was still quite quiet. That is, there was little traffic noise. Separate bedroom was good. Close to the city centre. Short walk to major supermarkets. Great service from staff, particularly with laundry. Sliding door to outside chair and table seating next to grassy lawn. Full cooking facilities.

The room lights were strong and harsh. Options for dimmer, warmer lighting would be better. Maybe some bedside lamps, or change the bulbs in the wall lights over the bed to warmer (yellow) lower wattage.

The owners at Motel 6 were professional and sincere in welcoming us on arrival, the same can be said for the staff, happy, polite and accomodating to our needs. The accomodation was a little dated, but very clean especially in the bathroom and toilet area, the shower was excellent, good pressure, and plenty of hot water. Plenty of tea and coffee with a couple of cookies thrown in too. The bed was super clean and comfy. On a personal note, we have re-booked for two nights this week, so yes we would have no hesitation in recommending Motel 6 to all travellers. Des & Alison

It was in a great location, close to two big supermarkets and in the centre of Whangarei. We wanted to visit the Kiwi House and the waterfall and both were really close by. The property was easy to find with private parking. The staff were really friendly and helpful, they kept the general noise down which was lovely. The facilities were great for a nights stay, we were able to have dinner in the room using the kettle and microwave which was a plus. It was winter when we visited so the added heater and the hot shower were amazing!

The bed was cumfy. An excellent availability of cutlery and kitchen appliances considering it is a kitchenette Despite it being a curtain shower, the shower was really good. The TV had sky sports available. We couldn't hear any people from other units. A heater was available for each room.

The booking system says 2 bedrooms but the second bedroom was actually the lounge. However the motel gave us an additional unit without us asking to give more space which was much appreciated.

Probably the best Motel I've stayed at. We stayed here to break up our trip from Northland to Auckland, and were very pleased we did. The owners seem to be new and have transformed the place into a comfortable and clean place to stay. The accommodation is well worth the price we paid. The added bonus is the service and generosity of the Motel's staff. They went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasurable one.

My only suggestion would be to update and post better photos of the rooms on booking.com. The rooms actually look much better than the photos.

The lady in reception was friendly and welcoming.She didn't just hand me the room key and point me in the direction of the room. She actually walked me to my room and unlocked the door for me, before handing me the key.The room and bathroom were very clean and tidy. My room was at the rear of the property and I experienced no noise disturbance from the busy road. Several options for food were available near by. I would stay there again.

The host couldn’t have been more welcoming. Her statement was “you are my guests so I will do anything for you” We had some wet weather so our washing was done for us and dried and folded at no extra charge. The room had everything we needed including little treats to make us feel like a home away from home. Everything was cleaned and fresh daily.

I liked the lovely owners and how kind and accommodating they were. Location was close to the all places I needed to go.

Rooms were dated and a bit worn, especially the carepts. It was mostly clean but there were a couple of hairs on the bathroom and shower walls. There was an odd smell coming from the fridge/microwave area and one tiny red stain on one of the sheets. The kettle was also a bit worn.
