All the staff at the hotel were very friendly. When we arrived we were personally taken to our room where the staff had left us a box of chocolates and a card in celebration of our 35th Wedding Anniversary. The room was large with a queen size bed and 2 high back chairs in a "cowhide" print. Breakfast was a sit down affair (no buffet) with a choices of eggs and full English with plenty of tea and coffee. We had dinner in the hotel on 2 evenings and on both occasions there was a good selection and very enjoyable. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely go back.

There is no lift in the hotel so suitcases had to be carried up stairs however they did tell us in advance and there was the offer of help if we so required.

Quiet location. Mostly pleasant and friendly staff. Nice bar and restaurant.

One evening my wife did not feel 100% so we decided to stay in our room that evening and just eat some sausage rolls we had purchased in the village shop. My wife went to reception to ask for a couple of plates to eat them off in our room. This request was denied which was very disappointing considering we spent over £700 at the hotel that weekend. The same person failed to ask me how our stay had been on checkout. This particular staff member needs some customer focussed training. The rest of the staff were amazing. The gardens patio area is great but unusable during the day due to the huge numbers of wasps. The hotel are taking steps to control them but its not working so we had to stay indoors in the bar during our stay.

The hotel and staff were possibly the best one i have encountered over years of travel, i genuinely dont have a single complaint. We arrived hot, sweaty and thoroughly exhausted, the receptionist produced an ice cold bottle of water for us within seconds of seeing us, showed us to our room and made us feel very comfortable. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly, polite and helpful, the room was big, comfortable and very modern. The food was excellent, with a great choice on the menu and the product was cooked to perfection.

The only thing i didn’t like was that i didnt book more time there

In quiet location well situated for exploring north Norfolk. Decor is fresh and tasteful. We had room no.1 which is large, dual aspect with luxurious drapes & well equipped. Beds were comfy with warm duvets. Spacious bathroom with big efficient towel rail. We chose to dine at 8pm & had the restaurant to ourselves so service was quick by friendly waiter/barman Joseph. Food hot & tasty washed down by smooth Wherry ale. Good choices for breakfast which was also tasty. We were the only guests staying & found ourselves alone in the building overnight which felt odd but wasn't a problem.

Although the bedroom had 2 good sized radiators the room never felt warm, but then it was a cold night in February. There is a small passage between the inner & outer doors which has a radiator but this was not working.

Good sized car park. Spacious bar/restaurant area and outdoor seating. Excellent selection of quality, well presented food. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Lives up to its name as a “country house” hotel,as it is set on the edge of a small village, but easy access to local attractions such as Sandringham and Houghton Hall.

Only criticism was that the carpet in Room 4, could do with a freshen up, mainly due to coffee drips etc from previous guests. Not a property issue, but we booked this via Booking.com and unfortunately had several spam emails attempting to defraud us from the moment we booked until the day of arrival. Despite reporting to both Booking.com and the hotel, we even got a spam when we got home. So in future, I would only book direct with the hotel itself.

I wanted to be in the middle of the North Norfolk coastal area and the hotel is very well positioned. Plenty of easy parking the place was spotless. No lift but stairs easy and reception helped with my case. It was an unusually cold June but the heating was still on so when I needed it I could put it on which was great. All the staff I met were lovely and my breakfast table was laid out in the bar each morning as I had a dog with me.

Breakfast was great and with a great choice of hot food. A tiny niggle was that the filter coffee was rather weak and the expresso machine was broken - unfortunate but really any decent hotel should have a working coffee machine.

The staff are fantastic and couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable. This is a very well run hotel. Excellent breakfast with wide choice of cooked meals. Excellent dinner (we dined at the hotel twice as the experience was so good the first night). Large, comfortable room.

The bedside lights were too faint for reading a book easily (though OK if you just wanted to look at the screen on your smartphone).

The breakfast was outstanding. Plenty of choice. High standard abd hot breakfasts were always hot and served on hotplate. The staff could not do anymore to help. The hotel restaurant has a good menu and the food was always good.

We had to have the electric fan on all night due to the heat of the room. It seemed to be from the constant heat under the floor in the bathroom.

Excellent staff in all departments. Extensive high quality breakfast menu, served by courteous staff. Main menu having a diverse range of dishes suitable for all tastes. Good wine list and bar. Restaurant/Bar staff very professional providing more than excellent service. Rooms clean, spacious and atractive, excellent Housekeeping staff. Reception efficient and above all friendly and helpful.

Room lighting could be a little brighter for autumn/winter months.
