The Alpenblick concept pleased us very much. We had really an apartment in a hotel room, complete with a kitchen (under a counter that lifts up - including a two-top range, a sink, a real refrigerator and a good coffee-maker with good coffee pads that were replenished without cost), a bar with stools for eating, as well as of course a comfortable bed and a bathroom - and plenty of storage. All to a really reasonable price. The Swiss restaurants we tried were excellent, but expensive for German tastes, so it would be great to cook in one night. Breakfast is a small continental breakfast in a basket outside your door, again for a reasonable price. (You might want to put some extra bread and cheese in the fridge, if you need more than a croissant and lots of coffee for breakfast.) There's also a common room - the library - which we saw used by a family playing games and someone working on a laptop. The associated Darling Restaurant we found excellent - one can think of it as a kind of sustainable Tapas bar. We shared four dishes, which apparently change frequently; an excellent kohlrabi salad, roast beef with a creamy horseradish sauce, grilled green asparagus, and new potatoes in a mustard sauce, together with good unfiltered wines. It's a popular place, but we were still taken care of very well. The Breitenrain neighborhood, where the hotel is, is very liberal and Akademiker-geprägt, and a really pleasant place to be - good restaurants and shops, pretty streets, political banners hanging from balconies.

One side of the bed was against a wall. For older folks, it is kind of hard to climb out of bed over one's partner...

Hotel has a garage which you can use at an additional fee and advance booking, we were lucky they were still able to accommodate us. Outside space is beautiful and hotel also has it's own laundry room. All areas are kept in pristine condition, very clean and beautifully decorated. room was very comfortable and spacious and was equipped with anything we could possibly need during our stay. Staff was also super nice and spoke great english.

Everything. The room was great for the price. It is great for people who are staying from outside the country who cannot afford the expensive restaurant prices. The kitchen was perfect. All pots and pans and cleaning resources are available. It was extremely cosy and really close to the centre, 5 minutes on the tram and very easy to navigate. The girl on reception was very, very nice and fantastic at her job. She made use feel very welcome.

Staff were great, the room was small but very efficient, and the amenities were great for a long-term traveler and seemed to be geared toward more social travelers - full laundry facility, library, etc. There were fun touches like the dry bag you could borrow to go swimming (and buy if you wanted). Decor was great. There were plug adapters available to borrow, and we were able to store our bags in a large locker after checkout. I was traveling with family this time, but I'd definitely want to stay here if I were returning to Bern with friends my age (which I fully intend to do - Bern is wonderful!).

There seemed to be no a/c in the hotel, and with high temps in the 80s F it was uncomfortably warm in the common areas in the afternoon. Each room did have a fan, and between that and leaving a window cracked overnight (lows in the low 60s/high 50s) the temperature was comfortable for sleeping. You'll get a card with your room passcode written on it; the code also lets you into the hotel if there's no one at the front desk. Take a picture of the code in case you lose the card!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, well equipped rooms. The rooms were small but well designed. We skipped the breakfast so can’t comment. Adrianne was awesome, Usha was also nice. I would return if visiting Berne again!

A very nice and stylishly modern design without being overly complicated or pretentious. I have stayed here several times over the past few years and the staff are always really great .

it’s about a 5-7 min walk to public transit. It’s not a deal breaker but less than ideal.

The rooms were very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The small kitchenette was a marvel. The mattresses were very comfy. The staff was very warm and welcoming.

The only issue we encountered was that the WiFi was unstable. It would stop working or disappear at times.

The staff was fantastic. Those 3 ladies at the front desk were phenomenal! They were super nice and helpful with all the questions we had. If we ever return to Bern , we'll look to stay there again . Kudos to all the staff!

The only thing i didn't like would be that the room we were staying was really hot...not even the fan saved us during day time. :p

The room was tiny but perfectly laid out, with two windows, a wardrobe, a desk and a bed. There was a coffee machine that used package-less pods, which I appreciated. The location was fantastic. I was especially grateful to the front desk staff, who loaned me her personal umbrella on the first night!!

Great location 15 minutes walk downtown or 5 minutes to the tram, nice restaurants within walking distance to the hotel as well. Appreciated the fan in the room as it was a warm few days! Also, the dry clothes bag for floating the Aare was unexpected but so nice to have and we definitely took advantage of it in the afternoons. Friendly staff & nice hotel. Would highly recommend!
