Property was very clean and tidy, hotel has recently gone through some redecorating our room was spacious and clean.
Our room faced the rear of the property. Deliveries and skips under Our window could get quite noisy if you needed the window open. These rooms should have a discounted price set against similar rooms facing the front or gardens.

All staff helpful and friendly, good selection of breakfast, good selection in the bar to, lovely old building, the grounds of the hotel beautiful to, the hotel was close to the town, I'm an Agatha Christie fan so it was nice to think I had stayed in the same hotel as her,

Elegant surroundings - fits with the location of Harrogate perfectly. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Breakfast was very nice. Good to see a hotel with so much history still active. Loved the link to Agatha Christie, as a fan.
As this is an older building, there were a couple of quirks, just to be aware of. The floors creaked a lot, which meant there was noise during the night from people walking the corridors and in the other rooms. I'd recommend some ear plugs, if you are easily disturbed by such things. The room was a little too warm at first, regulated only by opening a window, but this did help. On the other hand, the large breakfast dining room was a little too cold in the morning, so I'd recommend a jumper or sitting next to a radiator. The parking on-site is regulated by the local council and costs £12 per day, just so you know.

Setting in Harrogate. Rooms, views, staff were keen. It's an oasis of calm. Sitting out on the terrace at the front with a beer or a coffee is highly enjoyable. Plenty of great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The lift needs an upgrade. Some haphazard decisions and very slow to start moving. The breakfast is fine but bacon and sausages cooked a bit more would help. Restaurant was OK, but expensive. Some in our party were not happy. We eat out all the other nights. Not keen on paying £12 for car parking either. One of our group used a side Street. I'd go back though for the setting.

I loved everything about this property. The outside was like walking onto a set of Downton Abbey and it had lots of the same features inside. I loved all the information on the walls about Agatha Christie and how she stayed in the hotel when she went missing from home for ten days. The bedroom was really spacious and was really clean as was the en-suite bathroom. Tea and coffee were provided and the bottled spring water was a nice touch rather than water from the tap for your hot drinks. There was even a trouser press in the room.
I loved the glass cabinets on the walls filled with jewellery, bags and purses. The only downside was that you could only purchase items at certain times of the day and I had to leave before they were available. I will have to use this as an excuse to call back.

Room was excellent, came with a living room, which we did not use.. Bedroom was a airy and bright area and a Super King bed, which was very comfortable. The breakfast was a buffet but it was an excellent buffet it had everything and more that you could want for breakfast and the waiting were professional and polite. The location was right in the heart of Harrogate.
So.... the above room was the room we were moved to after I complained that our original room was right above a live band ! there was a wedding taking place, all that day and evening (so it was hard to get a rest at any point) I was not the only guest to complain ! As I explained to the manager you should have warned all guests there was a wedding taking place and there could be some noise ! The Wedding did look beautiful and ironically I would recommend it as a wedding venue. Our original room was old, small double bed, which was not comfortable and the bathroom had not had a proper clean, and some areas of the bedroom was very dusty.

The room service breakfast was phenomenal. It was delicious, fresh and beautifully set out. Compliments to the breakfast chef. The location of the hotel was excellent - all attractions were within walking distance. Staff were very polite, friendly and helpful.
Although the room was very clean and contained everything a traveller needs, I found it just a bit small and dark. My biggest bug bear was the shower. It was a small compartment with a massive shower head directed from the ceiling. There was nowhere to escape the water, so even if you didn't intend to shampoo your hair, you didn't have a choice. Those are just my personal issues though, I like light and brightness and prefer a roomier showering area. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Old Swan again because my little quirks didn't alter the fact that I had a fabulous stay and visit to Harrogate.

It is a very interesting place to stay and an enjoyable experience to be there. The hotel has a lot of atmosphere and they have managed to retain the character while giving the hotel a necessary contemporary style that is appealing and comfortable. The fixtures and fittings are mostly stylish and in good order, with the older features retained and clear to see such as the revolving doors, cornicing and staircases, mixed with luxurious contemporary carpets and seating, so it does not look tired or dated and depressing. There was plenty atmosphere and good offers at the bar. There were ample fresh options at breakfast and the area is close to the town centre in a lovely area, and surrounded by a garden. There were a lot of staff that were friendly and approachable.
I think the parking was too expensive- as a guest this should be free. A couple of older pieces of furniture were in the bedroom that looked dated and dreary and need updated with imaginative upcycling. There could be some magazine or newspapers there for guests to use. Shame there is no pool.

Very comfortable and elegant. I would stay here even without the Agatha Christie connection.
The menu in the restaurant could have been a bit more interesting but the prices were good.

Quiet comfy room, overlooked the front park, trees. a very tranquil environment. Apart from the lack of dairy free catering, which I had previously emailed about, the breakfast and the dining room were excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The tourist or visitor to the area, is in the mature age range, and especially for a lovely hotel like the Old Swan. I was very aware that the lift facilities were very limited. Fit myself, I passed people with wheelchairs, people with dogs or needing assistance all waiting for a good while for the lift to come to them, especially between the top and bottom floors who pass them by.
