Property was very clean and tidy, hotel has recently gone through some redecorating our room was spacious and clean.
Our room faced the rear of the property. Deliveries and skips under Our window could get quite noisy if you needed the window open. These rooms should have a discounted price set against similar rooms facing the front or gardens.

All staff helpful and friendly, good selection of breakfast, good selection in the bar to, lovely old building, the grounds of the hotel beautiful to, the hotel was close to the town, I'm an Agatha Christie fan so it was nice to think I had stayed in the same hotel as her,

Very pleasant atmosphere overall
On the fourth morning, I was rudely awakened by the TV in the room next door being switched on at full volume, which was very disturbing. I tried to get through to reception on the landline, which did not function. I endured this for 2+ hours, and then was forced to get up and go for an early breakfast. Having reported it, this experience was repeated that evening. The night porter came up and after knocking on the door four times, an elderly man eventually opened his door, and was requested to turn down the TV. He did in fact turn it off completely. Hours later, early the next morning, the noise started all over again. Fortunately, I had booked to depart, and was glad to go

Setting in Harrogate. Rooms, views, staff were keen. It's an oasis of calm. Sitting out on the terrace at the front with a beer or a coffee is highly enjoyable. Plenty of great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The lift needs an upgrade. Some haphazard decisions and very slow to start moving. The breakfast is fine but bacon and sausages cooked a bit more would help. Restaurant was OK, but expensive. Some in our party were not happy. We eat out all the other nights. Not keen on paying £12 for car parking either. One of our group used a side Street. I'd go back though for the setting.

Elegant surroundings - fits with the location of Harrogate perfectly. Bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Breakfast was very nice. Good to see a hotel with so much history still active. Loved the link to Agatha Christie, as a fan.
As this is an older building, there were a couple of quirks, just to be aware of. The floors creaked a lot, which meant there was noise during the night from people walking the corridors and in the other rooms. I'd recommend some ear plugs, if you are easily disturbed by such things. The room was a little too warm at first, regulated only by opening a window, but this did help. On the other hand, the large breakfast dining room was a little too cold in the morning, so I'd recommend a jumper or sitting next to a radiator. The parking on-site is regulated by the local council and costs £12 per day, just so you know.

Breakfast was very good...good selection of continental and hot food dinner was also very good and beautifully presented. Afternoon tea was excellent.. chef very kindly added extra sandwiches and cakes as we had a bit of a wait while he was baking scones. Staff were friendly and efficient especially Molly in the dining room and Jack in the bar.. Room very quiet and comfortable.
Only criticism would be the bathroom. There were several cracked floor tiles also the toilet was positioned right next to a long window and was only covered by a net curtain.. as we were at ground level we felt very exposed especially of an evening when we used the light to use the toilet or the shower which was opposite the window..really needs a blind to protect guests modesty!🙄

A beautiful hotel full of character and charm. Room and hotel was very clean. Breakfast even though was a buffet was fresh and tasty. Even the eggs to have with my bacon were still soft though I did attend breakfast quite early. The location is excellent. Very central ánd an easy walk from everything in Harrogate. Staff were attentive and lovely. Harrogate is great. My fourth visit there.
I did not realise about the £12 daily parking charges until after I booked. The car park seems to be ran by the council rather than the hotel as the fines are issued by them. Also I arrived 30 minutes before check in time and even then very few parking spots left.. Bed in room was much harder than I would have liked and experienced in other hotels and guesthouses but some people like a fiirm bed but still slept fine on it.

The hotel is full of history, from the everyday one, connected with the tradition of the city's spa, to the slightly mysterious one, connected with the mysterious disappearance of the famous detective novelist Agatha Christie, who was hiding in this very building. The room that was provided to me had older but solid equipment. Everything was clean, including the bathroom and toilet. The orientation of the room to the courtyard was at first glance somewhat disturbing, but it must be said that this did not cause any problems related to annoying noise at night or similar problems. The building has a single, not very spacious elevator, but considering that many guests choose to walk up or down the stairs anyway, the wait for a free elevator is not long or annoying at all. The breakfasts were very good, as far as the traditional English breakfast is concerned, on the other hand the continental breakfast consisted only of cereals, yogurts and fruit. Some salami or cheese was missing. But if you ask the waiter for them, he will bring very good and fresch cheeses from the kitchen, even three kinds of them! Dinners served in the beautiful, stylish restaurant (art deco) are made to order, but a seat is not that hard to get. The a la carte menu is somewhat limited in the meals selection, nevertheless the dishes served are wery deliciousness. The waiters are very helpful and pleasant. The same cannot be said about the restaurant bar staff, who tend to ignore guests. The people at the reception were generally very pleasant, with professional behavior, sometimes going beyond their normal duties (especially the receptionist who speaks Polish was absolutely fantastic, he even gave us printed materials about the history of the hotel on his own initiative!) The parking lot at the hotel provided ample opportunities to park our vehicle. The city center is less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
The staff at the restaurant bar tend to ignore guests.

The Hotel is ideally located in the centre of Town, ample parking was available, the Hotel is an old building but very grand with an intriguing history, the reception area set the tone for the rest of this impressive Hotel, the bar area and the dining room were extremely ornate . The Staff were polite, helpful, friendly and efficient, the room was well proportioned and comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and well laid out, the food at breakfast was of a good quality.
The breakfast was a buffet and not made to order, which meant the food was warm but not hot. The expensive price of the drinks in the bar was a let down.

The room was quiet and adequate for our needs. The shower en suite was small but adequate. There was no toilet brush! Overall the hotel had a feel of faded glory - with an old solid established feel and an excellent location in the centre of Harrogate. On site parking seemed a little expensive at £12 a night. However due to the location the variety and quality of adjacent restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner were manifold and we took advantage of this. We didn't eat in the hotel - though the restaurant looked very good and the food options reasonable.
As we were out for much of the day - during the Great Yorkshire Show - playing golf at Harrogate, Sand Moor and Pannal - we didn't really use the hotel facilities much. We did have a beer and sit outside in the deck chairs provided as the weather was excellent. The drinks were a little expensive in the hotel compared to the options outside.
