The location is marvelous, offering an amazing view of the city both day and night. The hostel was clean, and the room was great, with a view of the city and the castle.

To reach the hostel, you'll need to walk up a hill, either by climbing approximately 300 steps (a shortcut) or taking a longer route without stairs. I've heard there is a paid lift available, but I haven't used it myself. Be prepared for a lot of walking, and take care if you have heavy luggage. Alternatively, you can book a taxi to get there, as there is a small road leading up the hill, but no public transport is available. There were only two toilets for six rooms—one for men and one for women. However, there were also two shower rooms. There is also no kitchen as they have their own restaurant but it’s not open throughout the day and they close the restaurant at 8 PM. So you cant cook your own food.

For a relatively cheap stay, it feels luxurious to have such an exeptional view and privacy.

It can be a headache to find the place. The main problem is, the address given in the profile doesn't match the place where Google Maps will guide you. To find the place, i suggest following the map in Booking. We were also disappointed that the room lacked towels.

I was so ecstatic with the location of this stay. Though it was a long hike uphill to get there, the views and serenity was worth it.

The main thing was the other guests unfortunately being extremely anti-social and rude by coming in late at night and slamming doors, screaming down the halls and banging.

Amazing location - absolutely astounding views over the city! The staff we met were friendly and helpful, the beds were comfortable and the black out blind and peaceful location ensured one of the best night’s sleep in ages. A friendly cat greeted us in the morning, the bathrooms were clean and the café/restaurant looked great - but didn’t seem to be open at any point while we were there.

There was no way to make a hot drink, and absolutely no facility for preparing any kind of food. This would have been fine if we could have got a drink in the cafe, but it wasn’t open at any point when we looked. It would be really helpful to have some kind of facility available - even just a kettle that can be used only when the cafe is shut. We arrived in dreadful weather, cold and wet, and couldn’t face walking back down the hill to get a hot drink!

The beds had incredibly comfortable mattresses!! Beautiful location in an old castle like fortress with fantastic views over Salzburg, really got to recommend this place. Great value for a surprisingly affordable price.

The ONLY downside thjs place had, was the lack of some kind of "railing " or something on the upper bunk bed. Before falling asleep I was terrified about the risk of falling from the narrow uper bed while sleeping because there was nothing that would have stopped me from falling in case I moved a bit in my sleeps.

View was absolutely phenomenal, location gave excellent access to both sides of the city. Staff were very friendly and everything was very clean. I got a coffee in the morning and looked out across the beautiful old city below. Other people had gone on their morning walks to get to that spot and have glühwein, I had rolled out of bed. The whole stay was unbelievably good value and I was able to get to the hostel after a very short bus ride from the airport and 10 minute walk.

The lock to my dorm room didn't work, so that meant anyone could access at any time. This particularly made me a bit uncomfortable at night. There was also no room number on my door, so I was unsure for the first 30 minutes as to whether I was actually in the right room (especially because the lock did not work, so I could not test whether it was the right room by putting in the lock code). I would add however, that the hostel itself did feel very safe, and being on top of a hill rather than in the middle of the city also made it feel less likely that the lack of a lock would be an issue.

Great views and surrounding area on the hill to explore. Can get down to the old town quickly by walking down the stairs/pathway.

The only things we wished were improved were the showers (have to keep pressing the button rather than getting continuous water flow), and some sound proofing so that noise from the restaurant doesn’t travel so easily. Our first night was a Saturday, and so the restaurant was quite noisy from our room on the first floor. The second night was a Sunday so the restaurant was quiet as was shut.

The hostel is located in an ancient tower connect with a fortress wall and is not easily accessible because you have to take a lot of stairs, except if you pay to use the elevator inside the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, but it has a nice view. To get to my room, which was the cheapest one, I admit, I had t take a narrow step of stairs. There is just two showers for each gender in the entire hostel

Location is fantastic but to reach there is a challenge. This place is close to most of the popular things in Salzburg. View is beautiful. But be prepared to climb about 400 steps (one way) which is not difficult if you have no luggage. Else, just take taxi and it hits you right at the door. Staff is available only during day time and they are sweet. Special mention to Alex, who is really kind and helpful.

Bunker room is really steep to climb specially if you have heavy luggage. Wi-Fi is also pretty weak up there. Avoid reaching there after sun down , as it may be difficult to figure out the place and other logistics.

View outstanding, but of course a hike to earn it! Once you get used to those stairs it goes more quickly but the first hike up with bags was grueling. Clean clean clean, very safe feeling place, youth hostel vibe (but super clean!)

The system of finding your key with the code is lamentable - sign said to use 4-digit code, but code from booking.com was not correct. Finally realized there was a note with our name with another code, which is silly and not secure and also difficult to read. Just email us a code, secure, direct! It felt exactly like an escape room, but trying to figure out how to get IN instead of out. I can't even remember what finally worked... Same thing happened to next guest after us, whom we were able to help at midnight... It worked out, but seemed unnecessarily complicated.
