A perfect location in the heart of Zermatt. A quaint room that was very comfortable and beautifully presented. The staff were exceptional and very helpful throughout our stay! Excellent facilities as well!

We found the Hotel Walliseroff Zermatt while looking through options on Booking.com and it appeared to have everything we sought, particularly a convenient location that was easy to find and ratings that indicated a clean, comfortable spot to stay for our two nights in Zermatt. Both were true, but we were also rewarded with one of the friendliest front desk associates from our time in Switzerland - thank you, Maja! - a scrumptious breakfast buffet in the morning and accommodations that appeared antiquated because of memorable decor but were actually pretty modernized (there were “updates” we hadn’t seen at other spots, especially in the bathroom, which had a pocket door and a vessel sink.) We relish a room with a terrace, and that of #34 looks out over a neighboring rooftop. The room was clean and simply furnished with a chair, desk and another chair, and an area in the entry to hang a few items and place one’s luggage. It even had a mini-fridge. The twin beds, pushed pretty closely to each other, were comfortable. Wallpaper and black and white prints harkening back to an earlier time in town gave the room a warm feel

One notable characteristic: the ceilings were quite low. I’m around 5’4” tall and could reach up and touch it. It didn’t bother myself or my friend, who’s also short, but it could be an issue for a taller traveler.

Great location- 5 minutes walk from the train station, on the msain street of Zermatt. This is an old hotel, beautifully decorated and maintained, with graciously proportioned rooms. My room even had a little 'annexe with a sofa and a little balcony. The ensuite bathroom was unusually spacious, with a shower cubicle as well as a separate bath, gleaming chrome bath fittings, and lots of space to keep toiletries.

The ensuite bathroom, though spacious and modern, had a translucent glass pane as a door. An opaque, lockable door would be better, I think.

Highly recommended hotel! Excellent location right on Zermatt's liveliest main street. The train station is just a 3-4 minute walk away, and there are pharmacies right across the street from the hotel. During the summer goat tour activities, you can see the black-faced goats passing right in front of the hotel. Built in 1896, this hotel is over 130 years old and retains many classic furnishings inside. For instance, it was my first time seeing this kind of non-card hotel room key – guests are required to hang their keys in the designated key area next to reception when leaving and are not allowed to take them out. We stayed in the largest apartment (the Village Suite), which has two spacious bedrooms and a separate living room. In contrast to the hotel's historic exterior, the bathroom is surprisingly modern and well-designed, featuring a separate bathtub and a separate shower stall. The hotel also provides small bottles of shower gel and body lotion. There's a balcony overlooking the main street, equipped with a dining table and sofa. Check-in was seamless. Although the official check-in time was 3:00 PM, we arrived at the hotel at noon and were notified that our room was ready for immediate occupancy.

The replenishment speed for the hot breakfast items (scrambled eggs, bacon, boiled eggs) was rather slow. After they ran out, it took over 10 minutes for them to be refilled.

Staff were incredibly kind during the 2025 Easter long weekend snow storm. They allowed us to stay an extra night (since we couldn’t leave town as intended) at a lower rate. We heard from other tourists staying at other hotels that their hotels were not as flexible and understanding. Rooms are spacious for 2 people. Extremely clean. Although the hotel has been around since the 1800s, they recently renovated the rooms so they feel fresh and new. On the first 2 days without power, they still served a yummy breakfast (cheese, sliced meats, yogurts and bread) without hot food or coffee. When power returned, we were served coffee, eggs, bacon and beans which was a nice treat.

Not something I didn’t like but may be useful for those who go when weather isn’t great… the hotel is not on the emergency power grid so if you’re staying during a blackout be prepared!

✅ What we loved: The location is fantastic — right in the heart of Zermatt, within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the train station. The room was cozy, clean, and beautifully decorated in a classic alpine style that gives you that true mountain getaway feeling. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was warm and welcoming, with traditional charm and a relaxing vibe.

⚠️ Minor downsides: The breakfast selection was somewhat limited, and could use a bit more variety. However, the food was fresh and the staff were attentive.

Great location, room was comfortable, clean and had a good view which included glimpses of Matterhorn from balcony. Great access to town, and train station. Restaurant and restaurant staff were excellent, and good breakfast provided. Easy access to ski room.

It would be great to receive a welcome at check/in, and some information for example ski updates. Staff were nice, but lack of engagement. Significant step down from bath, no handles. Could be an issue if you have hip or knee problems. Spa facilities need an update, great sauna but hot tub questionnable.

The size of the room was big enough to accommodate our family of 4. Beds are comfortable. Very good location, just 3 mins walk to the train station. Love that there is a balcony overlooking the streets, it's really nice to sit and relax in the balcony during winter. Tried the jacuzzi and sauna, the place is clean and spacious. Nicely done up, would be good if the water temperature of the jacuzzi can be slightly warmer as the water gets cold easily. Decent breakfast and the lady at the reception was friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant stay for our family.

Would be good if they could provide us with the bathrobes and slippers in the room, instead of us collecting at the reception area.

The location was excellent not far from the station. The atmospbere was old world and very comfy. The building was very old and that was part of the charm. Lots of options at the included breakfast. Also a spa room in the hotel. Very close to losts of shops and resturants. Our view from the balcony was amazing of the matterhorn

No facilities for Tea and Coffee in the room. We could have received a kettle but we would have had to provide everything else. You needed to lift suitcases up steps into the foyer.

Everything! Staff were super friendly, we were able to leave our luggage as arrived pre check in. The room was lovely! Beds were really comfy, balcony with tables and only a few mins walk from the train station. Walking distance to everything, supermarket, river, cable car was 15 mins leisurely walk. Breakfast was a hit with the kids as you could make your own waffles. Nice food variety, warm and cold. Would definitely stay here again.

A kettle would have been great to make coffee and tea.
