Our room was the perfect size, and the bed was quite comfy. The view of the Montjuïc Fountains must be amazing when they are working. Even without the fountains, the view was still incredible! The metro is just around the corner. Breakfast was amazing—fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh juice, all kinds of milk, nuts, pancakes, omelets, yogurt, etc.

In February, it was very hot inside for us, and the air conditioning was only working on heating. It was also super noisy if we tried to leave the windows open overnight. I believe the air conditioning remained on heating mode until April. Nobody cleaned our shower at all. Towels weren’t changed, which is fine. The staff didn’t explain anything to us, such as the breakfast hours or how the lifts work. Breakfast is quite expensive because of the location. However, you can’t find anything better for the same price. We tried some nearby cafés—they were a bit cheaper, but for me, the quality was incomparable.

The roof top pool was very enjoyable. The location was excellent for sightseeing and the metro right outside the hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable with a nice view over the plaza. The breakfast was worth getting. The staff were accommodating with storing suitcases on our last day and offering to stay in the room past the check out time (12noon) for an additional charge and allowing us to continue using the pool area for the day.

Operating the lift with the room card was not straight forward resulting in many guests holding up the lifts (us included on the first day!) trying to figure out how to operate it or getting new room cards if the existing cards didn't work. We also booked half board, but recommend you do not do this. It is not worth it, as the menu consisted of three different options for starter, main and desert and when the food arrived it was sub standard. Not equivalent to a restaurant, more like pub food. After 2 days we decided to eat out, thats how bad it was.

Beautiful hotel with a fantastic roof top pool and bar with a stunning view. Easy to access the metro which was literally outside to get to the main tourist attractions. There are taxis also in front making travel to and from the hotel easy. I would definitely stay here again.

The Wifi didn’t work properly in my room on the sixth floor. It worked if I stood near to the door but not in the best area. Everywhere else in the hotel the Wifi was perfect

Nice hotel with very nice restaurant/bar/breakfast area.

In winter the airconditioning turns into heating only with no option to bring down the room temperature. Room was constantly at 25°C, went up to 33°C with aircon/heating.

I stayed at Hotel Catalonia in Barcelona for 3 days. The location is fantastic, with the metro right at the doorstep and several bus stops within a 5-minute walk. The area around the hotel is convenient, with a mall (Arenas) and several restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby, making it easy to find everything you need without leaving the area. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. We arrived at 1 PM, even though check-in was at 3 PM, and our room was ready, so they allowed us to check in early. Although I didn't try the breakfast, I had dinner and visited the bar on two occasions. The meals and drinks were very good. It's also a great perk that they offer 24-hour room service. The room had body soap, shampoo, a dental kit, a shower cap, and complimentary water, but it would be nice if they included Kleenex and body lotion in the amenities. There's also a minibar in the room. The views from our room and the terrace were magnificent!

I wish I had nothing negative to mention, but there are a few details that need attention: The bathroom design was inconvenient as the toilet area wasn't separated from the rest of the bathroom. The bathroom extractor fan didn't work. The shower had good water pressure and heated up quickly ( 4th floor room ), but the drainage was slow, causing it to flood. Additionally, I found towels and a bathrobe that seemed unclean, with visible stains. The elevators were insufficient for the number of guests, and the card mechanism for elevator access to your room floor was problematic.

We loved the location! Our room had a wonderful view of the Plaza Espana and Montjuic. The metro was very close and was also convenient to get to Monserrat. There is a mall next door with grocery store and eating places as well. The hotel was beautiful and the breakfast was top notch! So many choices and made to order omlettes. Taxi queue was right in front of the hotel which was a plus when we didn't use the metro.

Beds were a little too hard. As soon as we walked out of the hotel there were many smokers with an annoying smell of smoke! Wish they had to smoke further away from the entrance/exit to the hotel.

Modern rooms with good bathrooms. Ideal location for the metro and in a nice area. About 15 minutes walk to the main train station (Sants). Beautiful roof top pool and good availability of sun beds or chairs. The views from the pool terrace were beautiful. We took breakfast at the excellent deli on the corner.

Pool bar prices were a bit steep. The lifts were operated by room key card and so often they wouldn’t work properly. Some staff were fabulous (one young man in reception took time to mark up a city map for us and we really appreciated that). Some staff a little austere.

My room had an excellent view. Hotel lobby smelled good all the time and clean. Though it was not located downtown, the location is still good as it is surrounded by restaurants/mall. It was convenient too as there’s always a taxi stand outside the hotel if you don’t prefer to take the metro/train. The staff were also nice and attentive to your needs.

The key card almost always did not work in the elevator to get to your floor. This was also a problem with the other guests. We had to try and swipe the card more than two times for it to work. I feel like the walls are also thin that you can hear whatever business is going on the next room(s).

Amazing central location for visiting Barcelona for a weekend, the best transport links and beautiful walking options immediately outside. Hotel is nicely decorated and bar was good. Staff met every need I requested and we're friendly. As a female solo traveller I felt completely safe and comfortable. Hotel mostly clean and beds gave me a great night's sleep. I viewed a room on the 5th floor with a shower that had been modernised and it was good but I selected an unrenovated room with a bath instead, view into the courtyard wasn't good but didn't matter to me anyway. Pool is beautiful with great views and gym is decently equipped. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family without doubts and stay there again if I was in Barcelona.

It was a shame that the rooms that have been renovated and updated don't have baths, shower only. Pool wasn't heated so it was so so cold for me! The towel I'd used on the floor and dropped into the bath was hung back up again, instead of being replaced, like the card said it should have been. Tea and coffee and mini bar wasn't refilled each day.

We had booked a basic room on bed and breakfast with an inside view. We arrived a little early for check-in and whilst we had to wait a few hours, reception were very courteous and apologetic, when it was in fact our fault not theirs. They gave us a voucher for a free drink and did their best to keep us updated. When we did receive our room, much to our surprise we had been upgraded to an 11th floor suite. The suite upgrade was very impressive, lovely bedroom with huge double bed, additional arm chairs, table and fire place, Large lounge with sofas and dining table. Two bathrooms with ample space, walk-in shower, bath. A long hallway with plenty of hanging space in cupboards, fully carpeted, courtesy water and chocolates, dressing gowns and slippers. Incredible panoramic views of Barcelona city, double glazed windows and very quiet. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic, huge array of choices, cooked and fresh, healthy, fruits, breads, tea, coffee, juice. Almost as a good as one would get on a cruise.

Not much. If I really want to be fussy, then the complimentary conditioner in the shower had a broken lid making it impossible to use. There was a smell of sewage in the master bathroom and there was no toilet brush in either toilet areas. Our only other complaint is that we were only there for one night!
