The staff (Anna & Ana as well as Damian) were very helpful and nice. The location was second to none. The hotel certainly has a charm to it and is indeed very neat and clean.

I wouldn't call these complaints as we knew these while booking. I am writing this more to help those reading this review. Due to the location, age of the building and space restrictions, the rooms can be a bit crammed and there is no wardrobe or sufficient place to unpack. There was no kettle or coffee machine, comforts to which travelers are so accustomed to nowadays that we expect as default. The bathroom's size means it is near impossible to keep the floor dry. This is more than compensated by the location, charm of the hotel and the friendly staff though.

Location is awesome, in the middle of it all! Tapas bars surrounding the hotel. The bed was comfortable. Staff at check in were super friendly and helpful. The bar downstairs has breakfast and snacks/wine. You can walk to a lot of places since it's in the middle of it all. We loved the balcony room! I would def recommend upgrading to the balcony. We loved Madrid and staying here!

If you are a light sleeper I would bring ear plugs. The shutters on the balcony shut out most of the noise though. The bathroom is inside the bedroom with the toilet exposed with a small door. The shower is also not in it's own room. So make sure you really know who you are sharing the room with!:) There was some dirt/dust around the nightstands and behind them. Also weird disc things on top of the nightstands that we ended up placing under the bed.

The ambient of the hotel is nice. Historical building, tastefully renovated. The room was small but quite stylish - white, silver, and purple. I liked the combination of hotel and bar - fits the historical origin as an inn. The location is excellent. Right within a popular area of Madrid, and really close to the Plaza Mayor.

The only problem is the noise inside the building. The room air conditioning, fresh air supply, and bathroom ventilation were so loud that even with earplugs, it was impossible to sleep. The remaining option was to sleep in a warm room. In the morning, things got even noisier - people talking, music playing, and especially doors slamming.

The breakfast selection was very good, taking into account my dairy-free dietary needs. A small salad or some fresh cucumber would have been a welcome extra.

If it had been clearly stated during the booking process that breakfast is only available from 8:00 AM and that no takeaway option is provided, I would have chosen to book breakfast on-site rather than in advance. On the day of my early departure at 7:30 AM to the airport, I was unable to use the prepaid breakfast, and unfortunately, cancellation or refund was not possible.

We arrived in the middle of the power outage stressed out to the max and they were marvellous even though nothing was working and they were operating by candlelight. Friendly, helpful, very tolerant of my attempts at Spanish. Room was on the street side but minimal street noise despite being a popular street. Location was excellent. Breakfast was very good and the meals also good. Their signature dessert, the jabon or soap bar is worth trying!

Nothing to dislike!

I really wanted to find a hotel that had a great location but was good value for money. There’s a lot of choice online, but I really think this is an excellent Madrid hotel and would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. Being located on Calle de la Cava Baja, you have a whole street of tapas bars to choose from and it’s close to the Metro stop so you can easily get here from the airport. You’re also in close walking distance to all the main places that you’d want to visit. We paid for an upgraded room with a balcony and I would recommend paying that little bit more. We didn’t have a problem with noise at night either. The bed is really big and comfortable and the shower was also a very good size. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful too! Can’t recommend this hotel enough for a Madrid stay.

The location of the hotel was great. Close to restaurants, San Miguel Market and museums. Although there were outdoor restaurants across the street, it was very quiet in the room.

The design of the room was odd. The bathroom sink was the first thing you see when walking in the door, then the shower stall is immediately to the right, then the toilet stall, before you get to the bed. So there was no bathroom. Just separate stalls and a sink in the open. Not very private, and awkward layout.

My friend and I stayed here for a couple of days before we were going to travel to Cordoba and Malaga. Unfortunately the power went out in Spain, Portugal, and France so we couldn't get on our train. The staff here was so helpful in letting us stay an extra night with the power out and helping us book two more nights to stay in Madrid. I couldn't be more grateful for such helpful and kind people. Great location, amazing food, and really nice rooms and facilities. Gracias por todo!!!!!

This hotel is located in an excellent position on the main street in the La Latina district which has a lot of restaurants and bars. Despite this the room was still quiet even though I attended during a festival weekend. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was of an excellent quality. The staff were very helpful, with some great advice about locations to explore around the city.

The hotel is colocated with a restaurant so you need to walk through the restaurant to your room each time you leave or enter. Your keycard does enable after hours entry and exit, but it can still be awkward at times moving through people who are having a meal to get to your room.

Great small hotel, made even better by the fantastic staff. Unfortunately I cannot remember all their names. Juana (?) on the afternoon/evening staff was friendly, professional, with a great sense of humor. Sarah, who worked in the mornings went absolutely out of her way on the morning we checked our to try to get us a cab to the airport (it was the day of the Madrid Marathon). We loved the neighborhood - many fun tapas bars, very fun and also close enough to the center of Madrid by walking or metro. The breakfast was excellent, the best we had in our month in Spain.

Other reviewers have complained about rooms without fresh air and based on those reviews, I reserved a room with a very small balcony/terrace with plenty of fresh air. I'd recommend doing that if rooms are available. Despite the fact that we had a room facing the street, and the liveliness of the neighborhood, our room was quiet and night and we slept well.
