Just outside Plaza Mayor, the location and value for its amenities are unbeatable. It is styled with cute, hipster furnishings and decor that are appealing to young budget travelers. The staff were helpful and gave us tips and a city map to explore. The rooftop bar is nice, though since it was winter we didn't see it get much use and most people hung out in the lobby and the "Cave" (basement kitchen). We attended their free sangria hour which is a fun opportunity to mingle with other travelers. We also enjoyed the free walking tour they offered through experienced freelance tour guides. The beds are firm which we liked, and the blankets are sufficient for sleeping in winter.

We stayed in a 6-bunk room, and the room was long and narrow so our bed was tucked on the far short wall partly behind another bed, making it a little hard to get in and out of. For the price of the accommodations it's reasonable that the rooms are on the small side, but maximizing capacity in a room like that means a suboptimal bed layout. There were no tables or any other flat surfaces for your items except for a single chair (in a room for 6 people) so all your belongings would have to go on your bed, locker, wall hooks, or the floor. Also, the shared bathroom floor would get quite wet from the shower, and I wish they would've offered a bath mat for that.

Very nice place, well organized, clean, with a welcoming and super curated common area at the entrance, as well as a kitchen and tables in the basement (and a terrace and bar on the rooftop!). Room: The rooms are well distributed and I enjoyed a good sleep in the 6-bed female dorm (floor 0, facing inwards, no noises). It as an internal private bathroom. The bed (an upper one) was super comfy, with a small curtain (though not covered on top), lamps and shelves and hooks; I loved that the drawing to store your bag is very big, plus there is a huge shelf running along the wall in the room, which I found very useful as an additional place to keep one’s things handy. Facilities and mood The whole hostel is very clean and the staff always welcoming, should you need any extra support (a hairdryer, extra cleaning of the toilet, etc). I never had breakfast at the hostel but I think that the price is average compared to what you’ll find around in the city (never spent less than 5). Something to mention is the supermarket right in front of the hostel, open daily from morning to 23pm, great if one wants to then take advantage of the well equipped kitchen. Activities are organised daily, but I only joined the walking tour (with a non-mandatory extra fee, run by a dedicated company). The people in the hostel were a nice mix of ages, also including some remote workers, so I think everyone might find some other guests to join, while also avoiding the risk of a too noisy party hostel. The location is super and any place is walking distance, not only the must-see on a touristic point of view but also including Malasaña/Chueca for some drinks/clubs at night (20-25 mins on foot).

The Hat is as advertised - modern, trendy, happening. It is in an excellent central location in Madrid for tourists/travelers. Common spaces and shared kitchen were very clean and beautiful. The shared room (6-bed all one gender) that I was in was also clean but very basic. The private bathroom inside the room was clean but with some minor wear and tear. There are a lot of amenities and it is well thought out. There is a shared fridge/eating space. There are some dishes/shared cutlery but if you wanted to really cook you may need to buy/bring additional items. Everyone who worked there was helpful and friendly. I chose not to include breakfast with my reservation but did buy theirs one of the days of my stay. It was nice to have a wide variety of things and to not have to go anywhere to eat, as I wasn't feeling well that morning. There are probably better breakfasts for 7 euro in Madrid, but you would have to search for them ;)

The bathroom could be easily enhanced by a few more hooks! And just a small stool/side table/place to put items while you're trying to shower, etc. The room itself had some hooks but I think could have had more. The bottom bunks had curtains to hide sleepers from others' lights. The top bunks did not. All bunks had their own light, outlet, and a tiny shelf which was super useful!

All good. Comfy bed, clean room, nice people at the reception. Kitchen is small but has plates and cutlery, microwave and baking stove that you can cook pizza or pre-made lasagna from Lidl (5 min). Great location. Feels safe for a standalone traveler. Shower and toilet in the room. Elevator. Laundry 4 eur and drying 4 eur. A washing and drying cycles took about 40 min each. Terrace view. Towel not included. You need to have yourown locker.

Stairs to the upper bed not very comfortable. No cooking stove. One day there was no hot water (barely barely warm only).

I loved that they had female dorms, these rooms were clean, a lot of space and two showers in one room which felt very generous and useful! Easy and fast check in and out. Also a good location, close to most things. They also offered a nice tour of the city in the morning, could be worth it if you visit Madrid for the first time :)

The beds were ok, but pillows were too hard. They put a bit too high AC in the rooms so I felt I had a cold after

I loved everything about it! The location, the staff, the people who stayed there, the activities and that is safe. I’m always scared of staying in hostels with other people, but this was the nicest and safest hostel I ever stayed at. Also Javi was AMAZING!!!!! He made sure I was always comfortable and super helpful. I got pick pocketed in the bus from the airport and he showed me where to go to the police and everything. He is the best! Also I loved the activities they do where I met incredible people. I did the walking tour, the sangria class and the bar night out. Everything was worth it I even forgot about my bad experience arriving to Madrid. Also you can lock your stuff in the room and it’s super safe. It’s close to everything in downtown so I visited everything walking.

I arrived at 10 am after a transoceanic flight and they let me have my bed ahead of check-in time which was so nice. One morning I woke up at 4 am got dressed headed to the lobby and the 24 reception was glad to make me a hot Americano and I had an extra-creative morning of writing. They distributed the guests throughout the rooms, so I had the room to myself 2 out of 5 nights.

I had to use my key card to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. The rooftop is a bar and restaurant without a view. The seating for breakfast with everyone on bar stools and ledges with their backs to one another was not conducive to socializing

It is amazing place , I really feel like home , location is prefect , most of the staff is very nice , room is very big and so clean , sharing space is cool , I could prepare my coffee downstairs also and some people prepare their food ,Their breakfast is good , they provide iron machine and table also if you need it .

Sometimes guests didnt deal with sharing bathroom properly and didnt flush it and let it stuck by tissues , I hope if there is more choices of food for people from middle east at breakfast "This is not criticism just give advice to improve your excellent services ", for sure I would like to stay there again .

Perfect location, everything clean, very friendly and sociable atmosphere, can't fault this hostel - i stayed here twice already. Breakfast was great, a selection of sweet and savoury, juice, coffee, milk, and friendly waiters. Breakfast was served in a great time (7:30-10:30) so it suited my busy travel schedule. There was a toilet and shower in our room, as well as another two toilets and two showers that were shared between the floor. Never had any problems with waiting for one to become free. Beds and pillows super comfortable, and long enough even for tall people (185cm!). Little reading lamp and a small shelf next to my bed, plenty of hooks to hang stuff on. The receptionist was a local and was able to give me advice on how to get to the airport. Thank you so much for a lovely stay and I'll definitely come back!

I liked everything! Can't find any faults

Room and bed: - Very spacious and comfortable room and bed (4 x 2 bed bunk). - Bathroom was very clean and upkept well. - Wide and long bed with comfortable mattress and pillow. Lots of space in locker for medium sized luggage case and a 25L backpack. - Sound HVAC setup with good air conditioning unit and window ventilation. Amenities: - Both private and building level showers and bathrooms. Easy to operate laundry appliances. Breakfast: - Sound breakfast for ~8 euros (IIRC). Good options for pastries, cereal, cold meats, beverages, all whilst being on the rooftop dining area during the early morning. Location: - Centrally located a block away from Plaza Major, whilst being within walking access to the Royal Palace, the Prado Museum, San Miguel Market and the Madrid high street. Activities: - Pub crawl was great. Good value for money, free shots at each location, location selection was great and atmosphere amongst other hostel dwellers was fantastic.

Sound: - Main room window opened into central chasm where you can hear lots of noises from other rooms and areas of the hostel, including rooftop bar when busy.
