The position of the hotel is excellent, the historical importance of the building and the design of the hotel, the hygiene, the room, the comfort of the bed and pillows, the efficiency of the maids. we didn't have breakfast and dinner at the hotel (so many tapas bars and tavernas as well as Mercado de Miguel nearby 😄) so we can't rate that

The pool and spa are small but very nice, but require renovation (repair and expansion of the jacuzzi, installation of a Turkish bath - there is enough space, bicycles and other things in the gym - there is space)

The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was adequate. It wasn't rich, but it wasn't scarce either. The location is perfect and is great for tourists travelling not for leisure. The room was quite clean.

If you only speak English, explaining things to the staff might be problematic as there is a language barrier. The room is very small for that kind of money and the design is not practical at all. The shower is separate and the sink is located in the room, so when you go to wash your hands or sneeze, everyone in the room will see or hear it. The air conditioning works in a very weird way and if you set the temperature to 20, it could blow the whole night or not blow at all, regardless of the temperature in the room. Overall, I would say that if the rooms were designed properly, it would be a 10/10, but is 8/10 for now.

Location is amazing - right on the Plaza Mayor (while still very quiet inside), and therefore within easy walking distance of most points of interest. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Beds are very comfortable (we had the extra large which was probably 180x200). Quiet and effective air conditioning.

The toilet was difficult to flush, it kept running so we needed to flush twice each time (which uses a lot of water). Also you do hear the water running from showers and toilets in other rooms.

The location of Playa Major was nothing short of breathtaking! Every moment spent was a grand delight, and the scenic surroundings of the hotel truly amplified the overall experience. It was truly a treat coupled with the luxurious amenities of the hotel, made for the most rejuvenating stay ever. I couldn't have asked for a better place to work from.

On the initial night, the atmosphere in the room was quite sweltering, which made me unsure if the air-conditioning unit was functioning effectively. However, upon bringing it to the attention of the hotel staff, I was impressed by their prompt response as they took swift action and resolved the issue. In fact, not only did they improve the air-conditioning unit, but they also went over and beyond to compensate me for any inconvenience caused by offering a delectable bottle of wine. Overall, this experience truly exemplified the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff.

We had an amazing trip - the hotel was beautiful and in the perfect location. The staff were amazing and very attentive (eg provided us with great dinner recommendations). The breakfast was a highlight every day - so many options and great quality. Another amazing thing the hotel did was to celebrate earth day by turning off all lights for an hour in the evening in the communal areas and lighting lots of candles which was beautiful as well as being a great cause.

Everything was great - some small critiques - the rooms were a bit smaller than expected but everything about them was very good. The gym was small but the rest of the building was incredible.

Everything, from the friendly welcome from the gentleman who took my cases to the boutique look and feel throughout the hotel which was spotless. Location was just perfect, there is so much within walking distance, Royal Palace, Gran Via, Theatre Royal, Lots of restaurants, bars, shops. I upgraded to a superior room with the Plaza view. it was a bit pricey but worth it. The square is busy and great to people watch while having a coffee in the room. Spa was lovely after a long day. The heated indoor pool isn't large or deep but it's cute and very traquil and closes at 23:00. I didn't have any food at the hotel but both the indoor restaurant and outdoor cafe looked nice and inviting. Well done team for the great experience. I would definitely recommend.

I liked everything! The table in my room on which I could put my laptop computer. The tea kettle and the coffee machine on the table. The coffee capsules (usual and decaffeinated) and the tea bags (black, green, and camomile) in a box. The facilities: gym and swimming pool. The excellent breakfast! The nice and helpful staff.The location: 3 minutes by foot to Plaza Mayor, less than 20 minutes by foot to Museo del Prado and Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza.

The maids sometimes forgot to add coffee capsules, ot tea bags, or sugar, or milk. This is a small thing, however.

The entire staff was excellent and not only professional but extremely friendly. Pestana plaza mayor maintains the HIGH STANDARD OF THE PESTANA BRAND.. the suite # 101 is fantastic with 3 sets of French doors overlooking the ICONIC PLAZA MAYOR. ANNA WAS EXTREMELY ATTENTIVE AND PROFESSIONAL DURING MY 7 day stay. Look forward to checking back in for another week next week.. thank you Anna and your entire staff for what you Do. Pestana Plaza Mayor is perfectly situated in Madrid on one side of Plaza Mayor. - close to everything you want to see and experience. Close to all interesting small streets and alleys filled with life and activities. On Plaza Mayor itself something is going on every day to enjoy. The hotel must be one of the very best if not the best in Madrid. Very inviting and comfortable with a nice court yard, breakfast and dining room, all under a glas roof. And with many other facilities. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff always present and with a great knowledge of Madrid. We give our highest rating to Manager Mrs. Ana Serrato running Pestana Plaza Mayor so well.

This hotel is a gem. Although it looks grand from the outside it has a family atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We wanted to go to a flamenco show and they recommended, and booked, a less touristy one in an intimate venue; it was amazing. The restaurant café is in the covered courtyard leading to a cosy lounge. The breakfast has a wide variety of choices to suit every taste. We wanted to see the sunset from the rooftop and were taken up there even though it is closed for winter. Our room was made up daily to a high level of cleanliness. The swimming pool is in the historic basement with relaxing lighting, showers and sauna. Everything you would want to see in Madrid is within easy walking distance but taxis pass the door every two minutes if you need one. It's worth exploring other places to eat other than the ones in the square.
