Everyone raves about how lovely Claire is. Well… They are right. We trvelled fora bout ten hours by train to reach negombo and after a long day travelling Claire is definitely the person you want to see. We felt so welcome! In addition tot his: the hotel is really nice. Our room was huge, had a huge and good bed with a good musquito net. We would definitely stay here again for a next visit to Sri Lanka. I think I would then go for one of the rooms on the groundfloor because the terraces there are in the shade. The pool is wonderful by the way. The beach is great but lacks shade so this is a great alternative fors ome swimming. Claire booked a lagoon boat trip for us. Good price and (most importantly) a great experience. Close to the hotel are some nice eateries which is very convenient.

The hotel is not right next to the beach but on the upside: it is in a nice and quiet neighbourhood because it is not right next to the beach. So this location has some great advantages as well. It all depends on what you find more important. We preferred this neighbourhood.

Staff were really friendly and helpful-claire gave me easy directions to a pharmacy when needed and followed up the next day to check I was ok (hayfever flare up-take antihistamines with you) . Room was good size clean, good bathroom with hot water .location was 5 min walk to the beach, yes there's a track that's not lit great but all the streets are like that(take a small torch)

Breakfast - was absolutely fine but would suggest mixing up the egg option daily ( omelette, fried egg, scrambled, pancakes) then you would get more repeat bookings and salt pepper on table would be good for a Westerns palette.

St. Claire's Hotel is a charming little hotel tucked away in a quiet side street, away from the hustle and bustle of Negombo’s tourist areas. It’s the perfect place to relax after arriving in Sri Lanka or to unwind before your departure. Claire and her family go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. She provides great tips and even helps arrange airport transfers. Without Claire, I would have left Negombo with the impression that it’s just a transit city that has lost its original charm. But thanks to Claire, I discovered a warm and welcoming side of Negombo that I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise. Meeting Claire truly enriched my trip, and I’m grateful for this wonderful experience. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice clean place to stay including swimming pool, friendly staff, good breakfast and good Wifi. It is not close to the center, but there are some good restaurants close by and near the beach (however don't expect many, the beach is quite quiet). We really liked the boat tour organized by Claire which includes the highlights of the center.

The bathroom looks good, but the water of the shower did not drain. So when you opened the shower door the bathroom became very wet We didn't get the upgraded room which we booked, because it was given to another couple. Claire gave a small discount for this.

Claire is always there and is great and helping out with everything. The hotel has a pool and you can walk to the main street/beach in like 10 minutes. The bed had a mosquito net and was very comfortable. The shower was also very new and nice.

The breakfast is in our opinion a bit overpriced. You will get sonething better in the city center for less money. The pool looked a bit greenish, not sure if it might need more chlorine.

Claire was the kindest host. She and her manager helped us out in the middle of the night when we were facing a potential medical situation. She was reassuring and offered to phone medical services. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The pool was a welcome addition and added a relaxed ambience. I would highly recommend this property for your stay in Negombo.

This won’t be ideal for those wanting to chill around the pool for the day as they currently have some extension works going on, this didn’t effect our plans in the slightest as you are 5 min walk to the beach and can relax anywhere else within the day

Amazing friendly owners, nice pool, short walk to the beach (but would recommend a tuktuk via night time if you travel alone). Tasty Breakfast, coffee is available all day. Room was huge with aircon, I really liked the place. Also a place for long term travelers- I just stayed two nights and got all transfer’s (airport) organised, also at 2-3 am ! An amazing place to stay for single travellers especially woman: it’s safe and owners are heartwarming helpful - thank you Claire for this nice start into my holidays.
