What can I say, the Backstage hotel is an exceptional hotel that is easy to get to, spotlessly clean, gorgeous rooms, ridiculously comfortable bed, and the breakfast was to die for! Special shout out to the breakfast team who went above and beyond to make our anniversary stay so special and memorable, and to Rowland from the breakfast team, who we genuinely delighted in our morning conversations together, so many thanks, Sharon & Moose!

The only thing I would say that was slightly troublesome, were the blinds were slightly see through, and linked to both rooms, so when you closed the bathroom one it also closed the bedroom one, but this by no means spoilt any part of our lovely holiday at The Backstage Hotel.

Perfect location. The hotel is right next door to the ABBA museum and across the street from Grona Lund (but we didn’t experience any noise in the evening). It’s also a stone’s throw from Skansen, Vasa, the Viking Museum and the ferry over to Gamla Stan. The staff were all lovely, breakfast was gorgeous and we also had a meal in the restaurant which was great. It was nice to relax in the bar in the evening with our 9-year-old and play cards. The area is really relaxed and there’s so much to do within walking distance - we were glad we stayed here with the option of a quick ferry ride over to the old town, rather than the other way round.

Would have liked to be able to make a coffee in our room. You have to book breakfast so we didn’t feel like we could be spontaneous in the mornings, but it’s only a small restaurant area so this is understandable.

The hotel is located in a great area, surrounded by many attractions and entertainment options. The interior is uniquely designed, giving the place a special charm. We also enjoyed the breakfast options. The hotel staff was helpful and professional. Our special thanks go to Vaidrius for his outstanding service during our stay. From the first moment, he was incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely warm in his communication. His positive attitude and professionalism made us feel truly welcome and comfortable. He is a real treasure for the hotel! The warm and positive attitude of all the staff made our stay very enjoyable. Thanks to everyone for the excellent service!

In my personal opinion, the beds were a bit softer than average — but of course, that’s a matter of individual preference.

Location was EXCELLENT! Staff was AWESOME! Room was great and very comfortable. Best hotel in Stockholm!

The staff was exceptional especially the following people..... Patricia and Agnes @ the FD were very professional and knowledgeable and very friendly. Great customer service. Janes in the Breakfast Area was the BEST!!! She should be the Breakfast Manager. She took care of me each morning when I arrived @ 7:30am. She always had cold milk for me...she was the GREATEST! Chimngee, my housekeeper was AWESOME, she found me a perfect pillow for my sleep. She deserves a big raise. Every staff member were AMAZING!!!

I loved everything about this hotel, from the moment I walked into the lobby until we had to check out. The hotel has a great retro vibe. All of the backstage crew (staff) that we interacted with were friendly and very helpful. Everyone had genuine smiles (not fake "hotel" smiles). Breakfast offerings were absolutely fantastic, but as a wheelchair user I found that since much of what was on offer was on high tables or on upper levels that I needed assistance to reach things that I wanted. Luckily, my husband knows what I like for breakfast, so after I took a quick spin around the breakfast room, I could give him instructions. I strongly recommend the cinnamon buns at this hotel, by the way, they are absolutely unique and incredibly delicious!! Our room was a superior double, and overlooked the amusement park. This brought me indescribable joy. I loved watching the rotating carousel horse, and people on the rides, listening to the screams of joy of people on the roller coasters and sudden drop rides, and seeing the fireworks on Saturday night! Our disabled-friendly bathroom was equipped with everything that I needed to have a safe and comfortable stay. I could easily have rolled my wheelchair into the bathroom, had I chosen to do so. The room has the same funky retro vibe as the rest of the hotel, and I was really sad to check out. If you get a chance to eat at the Brasserie, the food is delicious! Oh, and if you are an ABBA fan, the hotel is attached to the ABBA Museum!! Fantastic!!

Not the fault of the hotel, but it is a little tricky to get to. We accidentally drove down the tram tracks (which the tram drivers did not appreciate at all!!), and pulling up in front of the hotel when we DID eventually get on the right road was incredibly difficult because of taxis, buses and pedestrians (it was a Friday afternoon in summer). Once we figured it out, my husband offloaded me with my wheelchair and the luggage into the lobby of the hotel, got the directions for parking from the hotel (which is nearby, but is an adventure with luggage), and parked the car. So the ONLY negative thing I can say is that getting to the hotel and parking is very tricky.

The View

I was very sad that when I accidentally booked a room, I accident chose 2 rooms & then I immediately tried to contact Bookings & got no reply back to help me cancel the unnecessary room for my Husband & Me. When we arrived in 30 minutes the nice receptionist said she couldn’t help me with this. I did realize my mistake in route to the Backstage Hotel & cancelled the room we wouldn’t be using, thinking it would open up a space for someone else?!?! So I’m Still hoping Bookings.com will credit me for the room we did not use? We are retired & & on a budget. Please review this situation we were put in & give us a credit for the room NOT USED🙏. We otherwise thoroughly loved our 2 day stay!! Thankyou, Kathy Rechsteiner

Great location for the museums. It’s easy to walk around the city, or jump on a tram right outside the hotel or a ferry a few minutes away. Staff were friendly. Food and drink in the restaurant, bar and cafe were great. Breakfast was delicious. A few things they could improve on… I told the hotel it was a birthday celebration but no effort was made which was a shame. For the price I’d like a coffee machine in the room, but there was just cheap dried coffee and one creamer sachet, which is disappointing when Sweden does coffee so well. Also no sufficient shower screen so the water goes everywhere! Overall 7.5/10.

Our room was excellent and looked out over the entrance to the ABBA museum (you get a discount on the entry price). Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. We had dinner too one evening which was good. We had free bikes and cycled for miles around the Stads national park.

Because of its central location for Skansen and other museums, the area was busy and sometimes a bit noisy. But this added to the atmosphere and didn’t bother us. Bars played music but it was quiet by 10.00pm.

We were very happy with our choice of hotel. Excellent location to explore town by bus, tram, ferry, or on foot. Vibrant neighborhood, restaurants and museums in walking distance. The room was spacious and I loced the mattrass (on the softer side). Breakfast was fantastic and all staff friendly and easy to talk to. Would definitely book there again. Just be informed that due to the location next to busy Tivoli it can be quite loud outside, which we knew in advance and we had no problems with.
