We had a lovely stay! Big shout out to Louise at the front desk who was just wonderful and went above & beyond to make our stay memorable. We had a standard double, and quite frankly the room looked like a dorm room outfitted with ikea furniture. The furniture & curtains were quite drab at first, but grew on us. The beds were stupendously comfortable & awesome comforters & pillows. There were big windows & one that opened which is rare in hotels & we enjoyed the fresh air. The bathroom had a nice big shelf for toiletries & nice big towels. Louise brought us awesome robes for free after we asked for some; note that generally you must rent them. There was enough sis e to hang things, but barely room for one large suitcase to open. We had 3! To solve this we asked to remove the desk chair & moved another big chair near the door so we could configure the suitcases so we could leave their open to live out of them since there were no drawers. It worked out in the end. The restaurant is open until 11 pm which was fantastic b/c we got in very late & ate there. The staff was great & service excellent. What the property lacks in ambience in the rooms, it makes up tenfold in service. The location is on a quiet street between 2 T stops & from it one has a lovely 15-20 minute walk along Birger Jarlsgarten (a nice shopping spot street) straight to Nybrogarten (pedestrian street filled with fab restaurants & stores) and the waterfront. 2 stops from central station so very easy after taking express airport train to the City.

Rooms were spotless but no style & standard was small.

The hotel location is great - metro and bus stops with transportation to different parts of the city are really close, and when the weather is nice one can also just walk to Gamla Stan and other central areas. Check-in was quick and easy, and so was the check-out. We also got to enter our room earlier than we were supposed to. Staff was always kind and polite. Breakfast was great - it's typical buffet, but it also has some local bites, sweets and even pancakes! Mini-croissants are delicious! Food stocks are constantly refilled and everything's always fresh no matter when one comes to the breakfast. Room was big enough, clean and warm. Beds are comfortable and pillows are nice and fluffy. All in all, it was a great experience staying there!

We loved our stay there. The word I would use to describe the hotel is thoughtful. Things that are useful for tourists such as renting umbrellas, having a water machine for both still and sparkling water in the lobby, a shoe cleaner etc. The location is great too, close to public transport. The breakfast is excellent!! All the staff are friendly and helpful.

It's really no big deal but may be helpful for other guests to know. It gets a little warm at night. But it's Europe where AC is not expected. Our room has AC just not your typical super cold AC room. We took the duvet out of the cover and slept with just the cover and we were fine.

I basically only have good things to say about Hotel Birger Jarl. It is a topclass hotel very central in Stockholm. I had booked well in advance, but it turned out that my daughter could come and stay with me for three out of four nights, and it could be done without any problems. We only payed extra for her breakfast. The breakfast was fabulous, a huge selection of everything from several kinds of eggs, cheeses, yogurt, bread, cold meats, fruit and everything else. The bed was very comfortable with top mattresses and really a good quality bed, although a little too small for us in our lovely little double room, but it worked. It was very quiet, the staff were ok and friendly, the food at the restaurant was also very delicious, although I felt nauseous and sick the day of my departure, but that could be due to so many things. We also got an extra duvet and an extra hard pillow for my daughter welpur, very good service.

The pillows could definitely be better. I prefer feather duvets and feather pillows and there were none

It was a very pleasant stay and the price is pretty reasonable for the quality! 1. Hotel is located in a calm and nice neighborhood. It's about 15-20 minutes from the train station, so it was comfortable to get there. And about 40 minutes to the old town which is also fine. Metro station is also really close, so you can speed up :) There are many supermarkets and stores close to the hotel. 2. Staff was super nice! Thanks to the cleaning lady and to the lady at the reception, so welcoming and lovely! 3. Room itself was very good, we had enough space, the bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed including free water bottles and tea with a kettle. 4. Breakfasts are incredible! Super delicious pancakes (crepes), scrambled eggs, sausages, meatballs, herring, smoked fish, ham, cheese... Wow! Thanks :)

I have only 2 complaints. 1. The shower was not very comfortable, as it's not a classic shower or bath, you literally have a hole in the floor where all the water goes (and it's not a room for people with disabilities), so you need to be extra careful so that water goes there exactly, otherwise you'll swim in the bathroom as the water will cover the whole floor :/ However, we managed to do this without issues, but it was tough. 2. The lady at the kitchen (the one who's serving omelettes and stuff) was super rude. I understand that sometimes people can drive crazy, but it was not nice. But still, these things are not so significant, as other things were wonderful :)

Fantastic breakfast - so much choice and plenty for my two year old to eat. We also ate at the restaurant on both evenings of our stay (not included in the price of our booking) and it was wonderful - steak was beautifully cooked, great service and good value for money. We also appreciated that there was a little playroom set up for children - my little one enjoyed playing with the cars, doing some drawing and running around a bit in there. Rooms were very clean and the triple room was larger than expected.

The shower screen was a bit annoying and small but the shower itself was a great temperature and pressure. Nothing that we were disappointed with really

Some of the staff at the reception desk were less motivated than others to assist Showerroom quite small and the step into the showerroom should be made more visible (made me stumble several times) Seating situation at breakfast: first morning at 7h30: nearly impossible to find a free table(for2) as one third of the tables were reserved for conference participants. The 'table not available'- card-system only works if people respect it which isn't always the case (we got our reserved table 'stolen'), I would recommend to maybe put the roomnumber on these cards

Great location, friendly and super helpful staff, nice hotel, cosy lobby area, clean rooms. As a solo female traveller, the surrounding area felt safe and quiet whilst also being central to many popular cafes, restaurants, nearby attractions and transportation. The room had an easily accessible hairdryer, iron and safe which was useful.

My double bed was 2 single beds together, so there was a gap in the middle and the mattress was very thin, more like a mattress topper, so i think the beds could be more comfortable. Slippers are not provided in the rooms, you need to ask at reception for them if needed. It would be great to see more food options in the hotel’s restaurant to cater to wider dietary needs and preferences.

Warm welcome. Allowed early check-in even though we'd have been happy just to drop-off our bags until proper check-in time. We selected simple room but it was great and still big enough for two grown men. Room was aesthetically pleasing with good bed, tea/coffee making facilities, lots of plug points for charging devices. Breakfast was great(something for everyone). Staff worked tirelessly at clearing tables to make them available at all times (busy breakfast area).Bathroom was perfect although would have been great to regulate the hot water up just a little in the shower. Room cleaned every day. Will most definitely return to this fine hotel.

Liked everything

The room was great for us as a couple with all the necessary amenities to make our stay in Stockholm amazing. The staff was very friendly and helped with information about the public transport and sights worth visiting. The breakfast buffet had a varied and rich selection with enough to choose from for everybody. The hotel is close to the metro with connection to the main station and other central spots. All in all we had a great stay in Stockholm and will definitely stay at this hotel, should we ever visit the beautiful city again.
