I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Royal Plaza Montreux & Spa, and it was a truly memorable experience. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—right on the shores of Lake Geneva, with breathtaking views of the water and the Alps from both the lobby and many of the rooms. Waking up to the sunrise over the lake was a highlight of my trip, a fabulous location right on the lake, with a bar and restaurant located lake side, with very large rooms, and onsite parking. Ideal for exploring the town. The room was spacious, elegantly decorated, and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities (including a Nespresso machine and luxury toiletries) added a nice touch of comfort. Service throughout my stay was impeccable. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with recommendations or bookings. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient. The hotel also offers onsite parking.

Breakfast was pretty disappointing, the worst we had in any of the hotels we had stayed in Switzerland during the 10 days we were there. Not particularly good value for money, especially the European option in the lobby lounge at CHF15 which was very primitive. The American option in the Café Bellagio at CHF30 was better, but still not great. No iron & ironing board in the room, which seems to be standard in Switzerland, even for 4 and 5 start hotels. Unfortunately we had a city view and not a lake view with a private balcony, as were travelling with a child, where cots cannot be accommodated in the lakeside rooms which are smaller due to the balcony, well not within the Booking.com system anyway.

The location, the view, all the staff, Sinatra restaurant, free bus passes. Staff were great, brought me extra pillows. Very accommodating.

The hotel had a large number of guests who lacked social graces. For example, they came to breakfast barefoot, were extremely loud, discourteous to other guests, spoke loudly on their phones. I saw the staff doing their best to keep these people in line, which wasn’t easy. The breakfast area has big beautiful windows that show the peaceful beautiful nature of the lake and the mountains. These guests totally spoiled this hotel’s beautiful setting.

Location was amazing, room overlooking the lake with a stunning view and ease of access to the path along the lake for a walk/run. Hotel was clean and tidy.

The hotel was 5 star but felt like 5 star from previous decade. Whilst hotel was clean and tidy it was 'older' and much less modern than other hotels but that was probably reflected in the price. We were wakened before 9am on Saturday morning from a member of staff wanting to restock the mini bar as we'd not thought to put on the do not disturb on the door but it was v early and unexpected. The bar downstairs was quite cold. The staff were super polite and the food was good but it was a bit slow to be served.

The location is astonishing. It is very clean and well maintained. The staff is polite and patient. The room was specious and very comfortable. The linens were impecable. A hotel for lovers of classic elegance. Not appropriate for lovers of modern design and gadgets.

Yes, it needs a little recarpeting and maybe some refurbishing here and there, but nothing that will ruin the experience for a couple who loves beautiful views, comfort and are not a particular fan of modernity.

This is a well established classy hotel with excellent facilities in a superb location. The breakfasts were very good. Car parking was available on site.

The rooms are just beginning to need a little updating e.g. the basin in our bathroom was cracked. We were disappointed with the food and the house wine in the restaurant so we only ate there on our first night.

Location and stunning balcony views

Room a bit tired and had two single beds with single quilts pushed together, not a large double as advertised

This was our favorite hotel we stayed at in Switzerland! It was nice and spacious, super comfortable, and it a really great location right on the lake! The waterfront area that you can walk along was so cute (we saw swans!) and lively! There were great restaurants at the hotel and nearby, along with ice cream, outdoor bars, mini golf, and more! They even had a designated dock/ swimming spot in the lake for hotel guests which was so unexpected and nice— we got it all to ourselves too! The front lobby was very nice— they have lots of seating and even a little place to play board games. The staff was so kind and helpful! It was also in a great spot close to bus stop which we took into Vevey which loved! We came for our honeymoon and it was the perfect combo of lively, romantic, relaxing, and fun!

Pool set up could have been better it was kind of gross walking through the foot water thing! And a little tight to sit by pool. But outside rooftop area near pool was very nice just wish you didn’t have to go all the way up/down the stairs to get to/from the pool.

The view from our room was excellent, the lake, swans, ducks, snowed mountains and boats were amazing. The location was extraordinary, we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The front desk staff were amazing. Artemisa, Leandro and Bruna were very kind and helpful, they went above and beyond to help us and gave us what we needed and everyone from room service helped us as well. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work in making our stay so welcoming and wonderful, we really appreciate it. I truly recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Montreux, believe me, you won’t regret it ❤️

Nothing, we liked everything. No complaints at all

All the staff that attended to us were very helpful, but one

When we arrived we were approached by a mature man asking what we needed. Then suggested that we have the wrong location we must have got the name wrong and it would be across the road. I then explained that we were in the right location and could prove it he then left us to be attended by reception. We did arrive wearing back packs and small suitcase. We had just done the train trip. I felt he was judging us by our appearance, what he should’ve realised was, we had already had payed for our accommodation one month prior. Next time he shouldn’t judge people that are helping pay his wages.
