Room & food was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful!

On the Sunday we requested to have our coffee at the table by the window after breakfast before we checked out as the table was empty. We were told that we could not sit there as it had been set up for lunch at 12, this was only about half past 10 therefore felt these tables were more for outside reservations rather than for hotel guests relaxing.

Staff were very, very kind – I love the kindness and politeness in the UK! :) The hotel and the room look just like they do in the pictures, which is great, but I think they could use some modernisation. Room was clean, especially the bed (which I always check due to the bedbug issue in the UK). Price/value ratio is OK, especially as the neighbourhood is lovely to walk around if you enjoy that typical old Scottish vibe. The hotel is a bit far from the city, in Richmondhill, but the bus ride takes just 10 minutes to the centre, and the bus stop is right next to the hotel. Breakfast doesn’t offer much choice, but the food is good quality – and again, the staff were amazing! I liked the ambience, the authentic furniture, and looking out through the big windows. Even though there were a few things I didn’t like, I would definitely come back next time.

The room was a bit small, and there wasn’t much space to – for example – lay out my clothes before wearing them. The bathroom was also small and had two separate taps for hot and cold water, which made it a bit difficult to avoid either burning or freezing myself. I understand that the hotel is deliberately designed to feel as authentic as possible, but this isn’t really a pleasant experience after a long day in the city. Same goes for the room: there was no coat hanger, no power outlet next to the bed, the carpet was torn behind the bed, and the windows don't seal properly.

Easy to find and plenty of safe parking behind the hotel. Staff were friendly, helpful and hospitable. Food was really lovely, I had smoked haddock and rowies for breakfast, and I was able to take a breakfast tray over to our room for my daughter (she struggles with anxiety, the staff were understanding and accomodating). We both had a full evening meal downstairs at a quieter table, great food and dessert menu and I really enjoyed the Highland coffee to finish. Receptionist was really helpful, taking time to explain where shops were, and what route was best to drive. Lovely tea/coffee tray with shortbread biscuits. Clean, safe, and friendly, great location, would recommend. Even after we'd checked out, we were able to stay for coffee (to meet family before leaving).

I stayed here for business one night. The property felt traditional, and welcoming, and the staff were excellent. I ate in the bar area on the first night; I had the chicken Caesar salad which was tasty but had way too much dressing. The glass of wine I had it with it (house white) was lovely. The bed was comfy and the room was nice, very pleasant for a one-night stay. The breakfast the next morning was varied and delicious. I had an omelette which was cooked to perfection and a personal touch that not many chain hotels offer, so this felt very homely. Overall a great stay, would stay here again for business, and would recommend to others.

The dressing on the Caesar salad was overkill, the room was a little dated and dusty in the corners, but comfy. It was a bit far out for me to walk to any amenities.

The hotel looks exceptional, like a small castle. Very welcoming and nice staff. The room is superb, large, and spacious with many facilities. We had two heaters in the room, but they didn't quite cope with the full size of the room, but even so it wasn't extremely cold. We stayed one night and the price is very good for what the accommodation offers. The neighborhood is quiet and safe.

The petit de jun is acceptable, but I would have liked some vegetables considering that other nationalities visit, not just English. There were different options on the menu (it is not Swedish buffet), but all revolved around the traditional English petit de jun.

It was easy to get to without going through any LEZ zones, the hotel was beautiful and while the room was somewhat dated it did actually match everything else so that's not a complaint. I got room service and it was quick and all the staff were so professional.

I didn't have any big complaints, maybe instead of telling visitors their room number it could be an idea to show them the room number on their cards and tell them the route, there are signs for room numbers but on a safety aspect this is something I often wonder about as a newly solo traveller.

Very friendly reception staff, and very straightforward. Lovey little ‘turret’ room with nice view and nice en-suite. Delicious dinner that I could eat with my dietary restrictions, and everything extremely reasonably priced. Heating in my room also very easy to adjust, and TV easy to work.

A couple of things needing attention in the room I was in: 1. Shower nozzle could do with being replaced as the jet goes in all directions! 2. Having a skylight over the bed is lovely for adding light to the room, but it does add a bit of a noticeable draught over the bed. Perhaps better insulation round the edges, or a thicker blind, would help with this? 3. The room is quite rattly at night, especially in high wind, which I think is just because it’s not a modern building. Would be worth seeing if sources of the noises could be muffled somewhat

This is a well managed city hotel with very good dining and exceptional staff who are both well trained and caring. Traditional feel, privately owned, refreshingly non chain and a good quality dining venue (much liked by a slightly older local demographic for a genteel get together). No one is dialling in their shift here. It’s a traditional Aberdeen building with extension providing good quality accommodation, off street parking and a convenient location for business, the hospital and leisure travellers.

Minor fault would be the intelligent lighting in the bedroom corridor which was slightly reluctant to illuminate as I left my room. I was almost down the corridor before the sensor worked. Perfect coming the other way so it’s just a minor issue.

Very friendly staff, rooms were nice and comfy enough and breakfast was very nice - though mainly the cooked options. The cooked options were delicious. The non-cooked options were a bit limited, but good enough for a basic breakfast. Location was good enough - We didnt mind a walk to the city center. But we were there for an event.

Landscaping activities were done in the morning, which is a strange time for a hotel I guess. But I think this was a one off. I prefer windows that open a bit more so I can air the room but also control the temperature a bit more (no thermosthat).

We have stayed at the Atholl om a number of occasions often to attend frequent hospital appointments. It is only a short distance from ARI which is very convenient. That said we like the Atholl for its 'old fashioned' genteelness, comfort and value for money. Staff are attentive aand helpful. Breakfast is excellent and prepared freshly on demand for cooked requirements. Dinner has a good range of offerings being quite eclectic but also providing staple Scottish dishes such as 'mince and tatties'. It is always a good sign to see it as a popular dinner destination for locals as well as residents! Rooms are comfortable and warm. Excellent parking available.

There is little we could complain about. I suppose the bedrooms might be bigger but there again that might seem like nit-picking and is not an issue given the very reasonable accommodation rate.
