The location is exceptional, with a tremendous view and very quiet. The room was huge, and had doors between the bathroom and bed that added quiet. The staff were amazing and helpful! The shower was just ok. It had a combined waterfall/hand wand, but the water pressure was terrible. The overhead shower was useless, and the hand wand was frustratingly weak. The bed was large, and relatively comfortable for two. It did have a worrying tilt where the feet were higher than the head. Breakfast was anemic. There were choices of juices, cereals, fruit, toast, and some packaged yoghurts. The fruit was in no uncertain terms, pathetic - a combination of children's canned fruit medley. The yoghurt appeared to be the same childish selections. I did have the porridge on two of the days - the first day it was fantastic, and the second it was pasty to the point of being inedible.

Fabulous location. On a clear day you can see most of Cardiff, the Millenium Statium, the Bristol Channel, Steepholme Island and Flatholme Island. Beautiful grounds and an historic mansion, converted to 21st Century use.

It took me over an hour, and 40 miles to find this place! The Post Code they provided on their confirmation bore little resemblance to their location. My Sat Nav kept taking me to a point on the M4 motorway, mid-distance between Cardiff and Newport. Very frustrating. Reception eventually provided me with a totally different Post Code which took me to a different location, approximately 100 yards from the hotel entrance. The hotel on first sight appears grand. However, a lot of it has been done on the cheap. They cater in the main for weddings.

From the moment we got there we felt so relaxed. The breathtaking views were absolutely stunning. The staff couldn't do enough for you made us feel so welcome and happy to help with absolutely anything. We had some lunch which was delicious. The staff worked so hard even in the heat and my god it was hot. Our room was clean comfortable and bed was huge. With again a little seating area outside with breathtaking views. I honestly am so thankful to finding this place. It was my first time in Cardiff going to a concert but honestly I could of just stayed at the hotel all night. It was only about 20poundish for a taxi into town so not to bad. Now.... the breakfast in the morning was probably the best I've had in ages. Lots of variety hot and cold. I can't thank the staff enough for making our stay so lovely. We will definitely be returning in the future. X

Really gorgeous views of cardiff. The reception staff were so helpful. We booked the hotel only a few hours prior to arriving as we got engaged spontaneously that evening, and we didn’t have anything with us so the reception attendant kindly lent us phone chargers and gave us new toothbrushes and toothpaste for free. They also gave us a free box of chocolate and a glass of Prosecco each.

The room was quite warm even though the radiators weren’t on and we didn’t want to open the windows as we were on the ground floor. The breakfast could also have been better considering the price. (I ordered the eggs florentine and the poached eggs were overdone and some of the spinach was yellow)

Fantastic rural location, with awesome views towards Cardiff Bay. Our standard double bedroom was so big and modern with again, fantastic views. Huge bathroom, everything was exceptional. Staff really polite.

The dining room was soulless in the evening. All the infrastructure is there, the room is actually very lovely, but no ambient music, no candles, so quiet. Staff were delightful but absolutely no atmosphere, would not eat there if we stayed again, which is a shame as it could be magnificent. No cocktail menu seen for outside and the views are magnificent and could be such a cool place to hang out. Could market this beautiful hotel so much more. Staff at breakfast very polite, but need more training.

The staff were ALL excellent, and nothing was too much trouble. The evening meals in the hotel were wonderful. The views were fabulous. My husband enjoyed his breakfasts.

Our sink was smelly so we had to keep the plug in; the TV rarely worked as it kept losing the signal; the towel rail in the bathroom, which was supposed to come on automatically each morning, never did (and it wasn't controllable by us in the room) and, as a vegetarian, my breakfast was very lack lustre - no muesli, not even boxed Alpen (the waitress said it was an error on the printed menu), the fruit cocktail had obviously come out of a tin, the fresh fruit had seen better days and there was no fruit at all on the Sunday.

View overlooking the city and beyond is second to none - best kept secret. The mix of new and old decor/buildings. Bedrooms were spacious. The variety of sitting areas internally and externally.

Too many stairs to get to different locations internally and externally which was a bit of a challenge for our limited mobility as no lift at property, as only one night we managed but it was not a deterrent. No cover from hotel up to external function room, heavy rain made steps unsafe and limited access to umbrellas so have to wait for weather to ease or get soaking wet on way back to room or taxi. Bedroom could do with some tlc in terms of wallpaper as some pictures were missing so dirty marks and holes existed, some paper ripped off and one part a wall edge seems to have been bashed by a door or something so needs some repair/decor.

Friendly and professional welcome at reception and in the bar. Very comfortable room with a good view, well-functioning heating system and openable windows for fresh air. Spacious and very clean bathroom with both a bath and a shower. Quiet rural location and easy parking. The staff were able to respond to individual requests at breakfast, for example providing plain yogurt and espresso coffee which were not offered as standard.

Some noise from people in the room above and from other guests - at about 3am on the second night of our stay which was a Saturday. Although there was a good range of cooked breakfast options, there were few really fresh and healthy choices for cereals, bread or fruit juice (eg no muesli) and the coffee was disappointing on the first day. Not really a problem though !

We stay in numerous hotels every year, and this was by far one of our best hotel experiences. The location was beautiful, the grounds immaculate, and the view of Cardiff in the distance was unmatched (weather was nearly perfect while there). The hotel itself was very charming, the room was very clean, comfortable and spacious, and the view from our room, especially at night, was probably the best we’ve seen in 2024. The onsite restaurant produced excellent meals with very friendly service, so we dined there 3 of the 5 nights we stayed. The hotel grounds were the best part as you can drink beverages while viewing the beautiful countryside with Cardiff off in the Horizon on a warm, sunny afternoon. I would, without hesitancy, re-book another visit when back in Cardiff. It’s a must stay location if traveling by car. If not traveling by car, I highly recommend renting one while in Cardiff just to stay at this location – you won’t regret it. Cabs also work but inconvenient for freedom of movement.

This hotel is an extremely popular venue for weddings and other events, so there were times when crowds took over portions of the hotel grounds and morning breakfast areas. However, that’s to be expected in such a gorgeous location.

View was amazing, the room was lovely, clean, and very large, the breakfast was really nice, we had dinner at the restaurant which was a lovely experience, lots of nice places to sit, and a suprisingly good gym. Lots of nice walks around the hotel. Very peaceful and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The cost of vegetarian meals for dinner felt too expensive - they were around the same price as their meat counterparts (which my partner said were delicous), yet it seemed like less effort was put into them, and they were out of stock on one of the options.
